Psilocybin is converted into psilocin (4-ho-dmt), which is what's actually psychoactive, so 4-aco-dmt is an analog of psilocybin in a roundabout way. I remember seeing the liquid mushrooms and knew it was some RC.

I am not sure of this but it could be that James was not cited for his "mushroom"/analog sales because of its legal status at the time (idk where i could check this), so they could only get him on laundering and weed sales. Idk, might be an explanation for the suspicious light sentence

This is a very good prediction/suggestion. That said, his case was transferred to a different district, and even if it was legal on a state level, they are illegal on a federal level (from my understanding unless it's on an Indian reservation). That said, with him using USPS to ship them, they are crossing state lines, so it at best would still be a federal charge. But I was seriously impressed, with the possible alternate theory.

Awesome podcast! I just did 6 years on a drug charge and will be on parole for a lot longer. I try to not get bitter when people get ridiculously light sentences but I am one that knows the system and somebody either got real lucky or they gave info. 9 times out of 10 they have gave info. Not saying he did. Like mentioned in the video, I have no proof but just sayin.

Great story! I'm actually surprised he got that little time for running that business for 10 years. Surely the fact that he was a decorated Vet had something to do with that no? It's crazy that how strongly we assume that big/significant players on darknet markets are at that level due to also having super tight Opsec, but then you hear stories about how they got caught and their shit was actually comically bad lol.

This is absolutely true. And Yes, I think that him being a vet was a really big point in his sentencing. Which begs the question can any vet make 100 mill this way and get away with it? No....Right? Their would be a lot of variables to that question.

So basically this guy got a light sentence because his lawyer was able to market him as doing his stuff for the "right" reasons? How much $$ do you think his lawyer cost? I'm still curious what has been your experience with the effect of $$ on people's sentences(being able to afford more expensive lawyers, bribes etc), espec in cases like this where they made enormous amounts, I remember asking about this in more detail in a previous vid.

Hi Jay, simply put from my understanding the concept your talking about is nonsense. Secure deletion, or "shredding" of files takes time - in some cases DAYS depending on the type of secure deletion and the amount of times you are having the data over written. So this is only relevant if you're discussing what you said and everything being deleted when you close the computer. You could use full disk encryption, and encrypt the entire hard drive with a very long key in order to ensure that if you did do a hard shutdown (pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off, as opposed to a soft shut down where you do it the proper way through the operating system) that your adversary could not recover the data on the hard drive unless you gave them the encryption key. If you are just looking to make the screen go black you can set your screen saver to be a black or blank pitcher that's black, and depending on the operating system initiate a keyboard shortcut in order to make the screen go dark.

4-aco-DMT is very similar to true psilocybin and i believe it is also called O-Acetylpsilocin But you are correct it os not actual "liquid mushrooms" which is odd due to the fact that ove only come across powder forms of the chemical. It is also a relatively rare substance although it is much more available today than ever before. It is also not a scheduled substance believe it or not but it has to be clear that to sell or possess it there is no intent for human consumption which would therefore be considered a violation of the federal analogue act. So as long as you clearly state that human consumption is not your intent than you are in the clear to get your hands on some.
