connect a cable from the Output of the drum module to the input of an audio interface like a Scarlett 2i2 or Arturia minifuse 2 or an iRig HD input like in this video. That interface will be connected to your device by USB. This will record the sounds from the drum module in a mono signal cause the iRig HD is a Mono input source only. for stereo signal, you would connect 2 cables (Left and Right) out of drum module into the other interfaces referred to earlier.

So can I come out of my amp with my pedal tones and everything into my iPad with this? I love my tone w my pedals and stack and want that recorded into GarageBand
@DarkRoastRecording Жыл бұрын
To get the tone from your pedal chain AND amp, you’ll need a DI output or single output from your amp after the power amp (not a Send). The only way to capture the tone of the cabinet speaker though would be with a microphone, and the iRig HD 2 isn’t really designed for mic’s. therefore, If you want to capture the tone you are hearing from your amp, best would be to mic it and use a USB audio interface like the Arthurian MiniFuse, or Scarlett 2i2 or Solo into GarageBand. To use the iRig HD 2, connect your guitars to your pedal chain, then go into the irig from the pedals and record that onto an “Amp track”. Play with the different amps to find one you like the most, while sending a cable from the iRig HD2 “amp output” to your Amp input to hear it back into your amp. Switch the toggle on the iRig to “Thru”. Again the best way to get the True Tone from your chain would be to use a USB interface rather than the iRig HD 2.

You could, but the drums will only cme through as a Mono signal, you won't get stereo seperation which makes a great full sound. So, yes, its doable, but not ideal. You could get an iRig 2 in like the iRig Stream for that, would solve the issue for stereo recording drums. Also, any 2 in 2 out usb interface will work, and probably have better usability with computers as well if you go between ipad and computers for recording and mixing. just saying, for the money to record drums, I would get a focusrite 2i2 or a Bandlab Link Digital 2 input. or even a Behringer UMC

I’m searching a ton of reviews to see if I can use this for my Keyboard (microkorg xl)……. You mentioned keyboards for a second. I’ve been advised to get a focusrite interface (which is more moola)

Usb interfaces will almost always be better then the mobile ones, if you plan on using a computer with garageband, get the focusrite

Can I use the Irig HD 2 on Windows without amplitube?

I think the donner interface is better for a pc or mac. Basically because it does not alter the sound too much and has its own Asio driver with Windows 10 support. But it will not work with android or ipad because it is USB powered, and needs more current then the hd2. But the hd2 does alter the sound considerably almost like it has more reverb and delay, which was the same problem with the hd1. But it should connect to pc but the problem is it is an old device meaning are the pc drivers being updated. Whereas the donner one was just released a few mknths ago. You are probably more confused now. :-(

You could, but with any Mac or PC uses, its better to have a USB interface. the iRig line is designed for iOS devices specifically

Sorry if this is a silly or obvious question but can you use this device to record on to a track provided by somebody else?
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You wouldn’t be able to record over top but you could load up their track into garageband and add another track for you to record into. Once that’s done you share the track to wave or mp3 and that will combine all tracks into a single audio track. Mixing down to a stereo file. You adjust the levels of each track with the volume fades to the left of each track before mixing it down to file.

@@DarkRoastRecording , thank you for the great advice. I’m quite a novice to home recording and have only recently acquired an IRig HD2 so that advice is very much appreciated.

I'm guessing by the way you were using this, that it has zero or very low latency ?

I recently bought irig hd2, I'm using the paid irig recorder 3 ios app. I create my own bases /Backing tracks in GarageBand. I can not import the audio of this playback in irig recorder 3 . can anyone help me to solve this? I want to post videos by playing bass on top of my playbacks . Just iPhone , no computar . Thanks

Is this will work fine with not preamp piezo pickup, I tried the Irig 2 and the signal from my acoustic guitar is not enough when listening from Garage Band? Thank you. Do you suggest something else?
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
I have found that the usb interfaces such as the irig HD2 and the bandlab digital link offer more gain, those may help. Also, maybe switching to a small mixer with built in preamps like a Behringer xenyx 502 usb may be a good choice. It’s still a USB stereo interface with more inputs available and built in preamps to increase your gain and volume

@@DarkRoastRecordingThank you for the answer, I bought the HD2 and it works very well for my passive pick, do you have an EQ profile to suggest me on GarageBand to get natural sound?
