I’m a massive fan of iRig HD 2. Also, AmpliTube iOS is very much my bread and butter when it comes to my tones nowadays. Especially the SJ50 Amp. It’s basically a model of Joe Satriani’s 1st gen Peavey 5150 that he got when it first came out. That thing is an absolute beast. It does everything I want it to, and not just the. chugga-chuggas.

Hi, I just saw your very helpful video. I just bought the Irig HD 2 to use it for practise purposes but I am a little bit disappointed. A noticeable latency on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. On my MacBook Pro using a budget interface (Behringer 404 hD) my guitars play without any latency both through Logic Pro with amplitudbe 5 or with the standalone Amplitude 5. I have connected Irig hd 2 to my Mac and it doesn’t have any latency. The quality of the sound also (using the same headphones) is not so great as through my Behringer. I thing the settings are correct (there are not a lot anyway)

So can I come out of my amp with my pedal tones and everything into my iPad with this? I love my tone w my pedals and stack and want that recorded into GarageBand
@DarkRoastRecording Жыл бұрын
To get the tone from your pedal chain AND amp, you’ll need a DI output or single output from your amp after the power amp (not a Send). The only way to capture the tone of the cabinet speaker though would be with a microphone, and the iRig HD 2 isn’t really designed for mic’s. therefore, If you want to capture the tone you are hearing from your amp, best would be to mic it and use a USB audio interface like the Arthurian MiniFuse, or Scarlett 2i2 or Solo into GarageBand. To use the iRig HD 2, connect your guitars to your pedal chain, then go into the irig from the pedals and record that onto an “Amp track”. Play with the different amps to find one you like the most, while sending a cable from the iRig HD2 “amp output” to your Amp input to hear it back into your amp. Switch the toggle on the iRig to “Thru”. Again the best way to get the True Tone from your chain would be to use a USB interface rather than the iRig HD 2.

Hi again, this is great. I just got the iRIG HD 2 and I love it. I have a question, sorry for the many questions, but I just bought the iLoud Micro Montitor speakers. Can I connect a cable from the headphone port of the iRig HD2 to back of the iLoud Monitors? I am running the guitar simiulation software TH3, Amplitube 5 and Tonex. On my ipad 10 there is no lightening cable, just the USB C. Is there a Camera port for the ipad 10 similar to yours? Thank you.

@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
You could, but the drums will only cme through as a Mono signal, you won't get stereo seperation which makes a great full sound. So, yes, its doable, but not ideal. You could get an iRig 2 in like the iRig Stream for that, would solve the issue for stereo recording drums. Also, any 2 in 2 out usb interface will work, and probably have better usability with computers as well if you go between ipad and computers for recording and mixing. just saying, for the money to record drums, I would get a focusrite 2i2 or a Bandlab Link Digital 2 input. or even a Behringer UMC

connect a cable from the Output of the drum module to the input of an audio interface like a Scarlett 2i2 or Arturia minifuse 2 or an iRig HD input like in this video. That interface will be connected to your device by USB. This will record the sounds from the drum module in a mono signal cause the iRig HD is a Mono input source only. for stereo signal, you would connect 2 cables (Left and Right) out of drum module into the other interfaces referred to earlier.

Oh well, found this video to check if I'm an idiot. Never used apple products much and got this to test if I'm moving to Apple for less hassle and frustration. I just want plug and play, but not having that dongle for charging might be the reason mine is blinking blue? Seems like it's not getting enough power from the ipad 6th gen... The guy at the store dropped the irig box on the floor as he was about to give it to me, but I knew the thing was small and inside a lot of cardboard. Garage band sees a guitar is connected, but no sound comes and the irig hd 2 has never turned green when connecting the guitar plug. Tried several cables. Everything on the ipad is updated as otherwise I wouldn't get garageband to run at all. Edit: Must be a power issue, the LED is feintly lit on my pixel phone, blinks kind of randomly on the ipad and is only stable when test connected to a PC. Ipad was charged at 84%. Sorry for moping, but I bought this thing exactly to avoid troubleshooting like this :D

What kind of iOS device are you using?

@@DarkRoastRecording Hi, thanks for replying. It's an ipad 6 I believe, borrowed if from work. My issue is still relevant as the thing just sits there in its original packaging and I lost motivation, again. I think we tested it on a mac at work and it seemed to light up properly, but that was at work so nothing more could be tested. I see others plug in and it lights up fine, the ipad also gets slow as syrup and just stutters..

@@DarkRoastRecording demoed the issue at a store and got my lightning cable replaced as the one following mine had faulty connection issues so the ipad would just keep connecting disconnecting indefinitely.

Hi can you switch effects using iRig HD2? is there like a way to have a pedal? thank you
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
there are iRig pedals that work over Midi, but they aren't connected to the IRig HD 2 rather they are connecting to the app controlling the guitar amps

for a beginner coming from acoustic to electric, would the irig2 (non hd) be enough to practice plugged in to an iphone with garageband? Also can you output the monitor sound to a bluetooth speaker connected to your iphone instead of using the headphone jack on the interface? Thanks, great channel!

its a great practice tool for sure, nice and small. You would not be able to send the audio to bluetooth though, the iRig controls the audio processor and doesn't have built in bluetooth. you would need to connect the headphones or amp output or both to hear the guitar.

@@DarkRoastRecording hi there, I don't know if you added effects to make it sound like that or if it's an audio issue, but I find it like pretty low quality, is that how the final production with the irig will sound? Do you recommend it now in 2022 😂 I'm an amateur and wanted to record something cool to make some videos of me playing to keep a record of my progress but I want a good enough audio

@@yisus2056Did you get it? Your comment is 1 year old, so I was wondering. I agree - it sounds pretty bad here, but it's not iRig's fault. I use AmpliTube and the sound is way better.
@yisus2056 Жыл бұрын
@@xanperia I haven't got it, but thanks for the info. When I said iRig I mean the device you use to plug in the guitar to the PC. Do you use Guitar > iRig > PC > AmpliTube?

can you use this setup then connect to a big speaker as if its a guitar amp?
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
For sure you can,? Just run a patch cable from the amp output jack on the irig hd 2 to your pa system. It’s a mono signal.

Love your iRig Videos I play bass; you have proven iRig will send bass to Garage Band on iPhone . For recording ideas along with Garage Band this is great . Also what I want to do is record my bass alongside tunes or snippets of tunes let us say from a source such as Pandora or what have you. Can I record “Pandora” on a track and record my bass on another? Importantly I want to SEND my ideas to music friends : Bass into iRig: Garage Band: save /Send via iPhone. Is this possible? Thanks in advance !

You can do all that, as far as I know! Sorry no one answered you faster!
