I have a subscription to Ultimate Guitar which incidentally now has branched to singing as well. When it comes to using an android device With an Irig2 or irig2hd it has quite a bit of latency and that's even using a Samsung with professional sound. However,I have used it on an I phone and was impressed with the latency disappearing.ive never had any success with the amplitude series on any cellphone or computer but I use the Tone bridge app from ultimate guitar ,and that app is free for me and I absolutely love it being able to get the tones I want without having a bunchnofnmoneybtied into effects pedals and delays etc. So I run my guitar into tonebridge on my iPhone and then atraightway from the ŵ1

I was looking to get one of these for my iPad Pro and band practice. I’ve been using BIAS AMP 2 and FX 2 for my practices and it works great. Only issue is that I have to lug around my only interface which is a Roland Rubix22. The product is great but the only issue is bringing it around with me back and forth between home and band. My question is, would the iRig do a decent job for live processing? Since I’m using an amp sim for my tone I need next to no latency. I don’t care for quality so much (besides, I’m running my other interface in to my iPad at 44.1k) Hope that wasn’t too long of a comment 😆 Thanks!
@DarkRoastRecording4 жыл бұрын
No worries my man, I would say if you're going for lowest latency on an iPad, you may want to try finding the iRig HD 2 as its a USB connection instead of using the headphone jack. But really, test it out first with the irig 2 if you have it, if not go for the HD 2. I did a video demoing that as well here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKSQmYyhf9yHp5o. That said, the irig 2 in this vid doesnt give any real latency either, on Android devices is a totally different story. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes you can do that on your amp as well. You can use them together to get really cool sounds, experiment with it. I don’t know about Spire as i haven’t tried it yet, but i assume it will work just fine as the irig is just sending an audio signal to the app

+lucifer it'll work with any DAW because it's just an analog interface. just load any audio track in your DAW and select the input you have the iRig 2 plugged into. but honestly, if you have a digital interface, there's tracking no need for the irig2 as any interface will take a line input from a guitar regardless

Specially if using Garage Band to practice against recorded backing tracks. For some reason the original headphone Jack on the original IRig will only power Headphones? Thanks John
@DarkRoastRecording4 жыл бұрын
That’s right. It will send the audio to anything amp or powered speaker. If you set the switch to fx, it will send what you hear headphones after being processed on the device, “thru” will send the signal before any app processing

Could you also add a microphone to it if you want to sing along with your guitar playing? Or would you have to go back and do that later on a separate track? I’m looking for a device such as this where I can plug two microphones into it.
@DarkRoastRecording4 жыл бұрын
You could do separate tracks, but not 2 at once since this is only a single input. Try adjusting the EQ on the guitar to get rid of some noise, and then yes, try sending the sound from the 1/4" amp output to the Bose instead of the headphone jack. the headphone jack is low powered. So can I plug this straight into an iPad, with just the guitar and guitar cable, and play the guitar through the iPad speakers using garage band? The amp I haven’t isn’t very good but I have an iPad. I basically just want to use the iPad as an “amp” Is all I need this device then?

Technically, yes. But it’s recommended to play with a speaker or earphones.

@suspicionofdeceit i assume that the adaptor has a 3.5mm jack unless it’s something old.

only if you are using a device that doesn't have a headphone port on its own.

best to use the "amp output" 1/4 connection to a set of powered speakers. even just a decent set of computer speakers would be better than the iPad speakers. but technically, yes that will work.

Does it work with a Windows computer?

Hello!! Does it work with iphone 12?
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
it does, just have to use a headphone to lightning dongle. the iRig HD 2 would be better, or the TC helicon GoGuitar Pro

It is work on classical guitar?
@DarkRoastRecording2 жыл бұрын
Only if the guitar has a 1/4” output from a pickup. Otherwise if it’s straight acoustic, you would not use this irig, but rather an irig mic

connected the electric guitar & earphones on the same side of the irig2 and connected my ipad pro to the other end with a 3.5 to type C dongle. doesn't hear anything from the earphone. garageband recorded the outside sound not from the electric guitar. please help

I think the issues you are having is related to the dongle. It has to be an apple certified headphone dongle for it to work on the ipad pro usb c. Also, i think (read this right) you have the headphones connected to the amp output, but they should really be connected to the headphones jack same side as the 3.5mm cable going to the ipad. Hope that helps!

@@DarkRoastRecording you mean i have to connect the headphones jack to the apple certified dongle? because theres only one 3.5 jack in irig2 and thats on the same side as the guitar jack. can u also recommend an apple certified dongle, what do u use in your setup (if u have one)?
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
@@8regz3 sorry, i was thinking the irig hd 2, the irig 2 does have the headphones same side as guitar input. So that’s good. Yes the 3.5mm going into the ipad needs to use a certified apple 3.5mm to usb-c dongle or you will have issues

Is there any latency or delay using this on iPad?
@unaffected954 жыл бұрын
I have a huge delay with the usb c dongle connector to my ipad pro that I don't have nearly as much of when I connect to a device that can use the native 3.5mm connector in the headphone jack.
@DarkRoastRecording4 жыл бұрын
There will always be a slight delay, but typically as unaffected95 mentions, its pretty minimal using the headphone dongle as there is no extra processing.

Can you plug your iRig into an amp? Thanks!
@DarkRoastRecording3 жыл бұрын
You can, just connect another patch cable from the iRig "Amp output" to any amp and use the volume dial to send audio.
