Regarding the timeline of 2 and 3, I agree that Death starts his quest before Fury, but I'd argue that it does take him 99+ years to finish his quest, or at least way past Fury's quest. Death is only briefly on earth on his quest, the rest of the time he's in different realms/worlds, who said time passes the same there as on earth? We see Archon looking at The Destroyer (a scene from Darksiders 1 ending), and then when Death sacrifices himself (after going to another realm and time travels there, then goes on to fight Absalom), the cutscenes do indicate/suggest that it happened simultaneously as the first game. I think for Death, Fury and War it takes as long as it takes us the player to finish the game, but time on earth and other realms are different.
@TrueMastersandMorons5 жыл бұрын
Ah dimensional and temporal travel, so prone to screw with any attempted timeline, lol. These are legitimate points, that we had considered, but there's never any mention of temporal displacement in the media so we don't have anything to work with if that's the case.

I literally wanted to write practicly the same. But i think its not all worlds, more the world of the "Afterlife" were a not small part of Deaths journey took place. This world is inhabitet by Souls and creatures with out ageing. It is here were i see the potential that far more time has passed than we noticed. As for Fury i think her Quest ended far before Deaths did but she just spended the rest of time protecting humanity
@jackal2535 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with this since yeah time could be slower in the realm of the dead and death did spend quite a bit of time there possibly even more time then he spends in any other realm in the game and also we cant exactly tell how much time passed when he is knocked out in the veil and when he wakes up in the forgelands
@FatalFist4 жыл бұрын
I think Fury’s path ended much earlier. The Destroyer has not acquired his seat of power and we see him leading the assault on Haven before Fury disappears into the Portal Pool. Death, like you said, ends up completing his journey just as War and Abaddon fight in the finale of Darksiders 1. Fury is... we don’t know where and Strife’s existence is unknown due to him staying behind so that Fury could escape. I assume, because Ulthane survives - Strife does as well and somehow crosses into the realms because Death acquires one of Strife’s pistols, Redemption. It is entirely possible that Death could have been unconscious in the Forgelands for quite a while and the flow of time is undetermined at this point. I’m willing to bet it’s fifty-fifty, that Death could have been asleep for some amount of years and then, upon waking, his journey takes another amount of decades until Darksiders 2 and 1’s finale sync up.
@blackoni57094 жыл бұрын
Oshri Getreuer In the case of Death i always believed that location of Shadows Edge is where the time shenanigans begins. Not only because of Phase walker and time portals but also for the fact that when Death first arrives in location that world is very close to the Abyss. It looked like a black hole (i think is a very good representation of what abyss should be) and maybe the force of this abyss made time to go faster like it was in Interstellar.

"Death had already peaced out" XD I love it! He heard the news about War, went "Bullsh**. Imma fix this," then up and left without telling anyone anything. (though it does seem a little weird that it took ten years. Is Death just so out of touch with Creation at large that it took that long to get the news?) I would argue that the novel takes place before War loses his arm because when Death comes back after the 500 years, that's the first time anyone has seen him with Dust. So he gave the amulet to the Crowfather during that time, and it makes the most sense to me that Death would have done that immediately (or at least soon) after Eden. (also what Javier Zaragoza said about Chaoseater) I concur about the pacing of games 2 & 3. Fury's especially definitely doesn't take 90 years; those humans are way too young for that. Plus the Dark Tower is still under construction, and I would expect it to be finished well before the events of the first game. Great video, guys!

Actually, there's no sign of Dust in the comic when War loses his arm. There are a lot of crows helping themselves to the carrion, but no sign that any of them are attached to Death. That's not to say Dust isn't there - he has a talent for making himself scarce when the fighting starts. That said, I do think the Abomination Vault takes place before War loses his arm for a few reasons. First, howeverlong it was that Death kept hold of the amulet with the Nephilim souls is how long he had to hide it from the Council, since I'm pretty sure they ordered it destroyed. Second - and this is from the wiki, so take with a grain of salt - that battlefield where War loses his arm is supposedly on Earth. Which would mean after humanity was created and then driven out of Eden. During the Abomination Vault Eden is vacant, waiting for humanity to claim it. We know that's before humanity was created and not after they were driven out of Eden because in the first game Azrael says he hid Eden rather than destroy it - an idea it is suggested came to him after hearing about how the Nephilim hid the Grand Abominations in their pocket-dimension vault.

According to the devs of the first Darksiders, they came up with the name Ruin by pondering the question "What follows war?". The answer being "Only ruin". Then they used the same method to name Death's steed and I assume Gunfire Games did the same with Fury's steed. So, what follows strife? I don't think it's discord because discord and strife are actually synonyms.

I personally think the ending of DS2 is like this: Death revives the souls, crowfather is the storyteller, all the loading screens after u quit the game are said from the future as a story of the past. Thus i believe crowfather is refering to war after the rest of the time needed for the 7th seal to break. It will be anticlimatic to just say: But death's journey didn;t end, it took 100 more years and a lot of fighting on his brothers side but he eventually revives.

Great Video! I love being able to see especially the books in order, and the placement of lilith etc I'm pretty sure that in Darksiders 2 they claim that humanity has fallen already, but in Darksiders 3 there are still clearly numerous humans alive in hiding. Because of this I'm pretty sure that Darksiders 2 takes place after Darksiders 3. I can imagine that it took Death a while before the opening scene of Darksiders 2 to get to the crowfather. So Probably Death Leaves -> Darksiders 2 Happens -> Last of men are slain or leave to where fury is -> Darksiders 2 happens Not to mention that The Destroyer had already shown himself during Darksiders 2, whereas he only came to be the Destroyer during the events of Darksider 3
@FatalFist4 жыл бұрын
Hapmaplapflap gap Death’s arrival on Earth and fighting Belial could also suggest that the Hunter (human) Death meets has given up the location of Haven to Belial who informed the rest.
@The_Raven_1685 жыл бұрын
I think Darksiders 3 takes place BEFORE Darksiders 2. It would explain why Strife has both of his pistols in Darksiders 3 but Death got one of them in the beginning of Darksiders 2. Maybe something happened to Strife after the end of Darksiders 3 and that's why his brothers each got one of his pistols. Also, at the end of Darksiders 3 we see The Destroyer starting to lay waste of what's left of humanity (a task we see completed in Darksiders 1) and during Darksiders 2 when Death goes briefly to Earth, he sees it already in ruins and very few humans are left alive (well, we only see the hunter and for all we know, he could be the only one left alive... until the end of the DLC that is). I think it is possible that Darksiders 1 and Darksiders 2 end more or less at the same time, or at the very least Darksiders 1 ends shortly after Darksiders 2. That's how it seems when the Crowfather narrates it anyway - Death sacrifices himself and the souls of the Nephilim embedded in his chest to ressurect all of humanity, then shortly after Uriel destroys the Seventh Seal (the Crowfather says it was War, but it was actually Uriel), ressurecting both War and Death and summoning them to Earth, along with Fury and Strife.

I kinda feel like it was 3,1,2. Furys quest initiated right as war was killed by straga initially and finished before War officially met Ulthane. #2 took place partially during Wars quest but ended very long afterwards given the state of the earth. I sumise based on the ending death jumped into the well of souls just before War broke the seal and officially began the apocalypse. With strife on "other business" he probably was set to investigate Lucifer and his high ranking demons since we know abbadon instigated alot of crap and strife was sent in too secret to ensure there would be no further advantage taken by the demons and Liliths trickery

The devs have confirmed that the order is, beginning section of DS1, 10 year gap to DS3 some time later DS2, Some time later DS1 main game. :) Death died long before the final seal was broken. :) We didn't have this confirmation at the time of the writing of this video hence us having DS2 and DS3 mixed up. :)

Ok so there’s a few things that show that while some parts may happen at the same time..most of Darksiders 2 happens AFTER Darksiders 3. 1) the tower of Straga. In Darksiders 3 the tower is in the midst of being built and is very bare bones and half done. In Darksiders 2 , during the earth mission to get the rod, as you fight your way along the last zone where the bridge is, you can see the tower of Straga in the distance. Not totally complete but further along than in Darksiders 3. 2) the intro. In the Darksiders 2 intro... it states that during deaths journey, the destroyer and the chosen are more or less already somewhat established. In Darksiders 3, the destroyer hasn’t fully revealed himself as the general behind it all until he attacks the sanctuary of Ulthane. 3) the Darksiders 2 DLC. In the DLC death finds the last human on earth and eventually slays him upon request. So all other humans have gone with fury by that point in the game. 4). The Darksiders 3 epilogue. Lilith is told by lucifer that corruption will take care of everything and that corruption/absalon hadn’t really made a major move yet. This makes me think that there could be a time lapse when death is pulled through the gate at the beginning that the crow father opened upon his death. Death was sent far to the edge of the dying universe and that could have taken decades via time warp and space physics/worm hole effect. Once he’s on the old ones world it seems corruption is in full swing. 4 ) the seeing pool of the archon. This one is unfortunately not very reliable as the seeing pool that corrupted the archon seems to have the ability to see through time. The first time death meets the archon , he is viewing pre fallen abbadon. ( the clip is from when he convinces azrael to break the seals) when next we see him peering into the pool we see post fallen abbadon (the clip is from when he’s talking to war with passed out Uriel in his claws). Now whether he is seeing those events or whether it was just a way for the studio to save money by reusing old clips that were meant to be brand new scenes... is unclear. Obviously the prefallen scene is before the game so definitely isn’t happening at the same time death walks in on the archon and the scene with the destroyer is the end of the Darksiders 1 game , and death still has a 1/4 game left at that point. 5) strifes guns. Death gets a gun from the makers that might be a copy but also might not be a copy. It might be strifes. We know that strife was with ulthane in D3. Ulthane gives war the other gun (or replica) but it may actually be his other gun and we know Ulthane was with death. But even if strife and Ulthane had met on the makers home world before Ulthane traveled to earth ( they could have traveled together) that doesn’t make sense cus strife still had his guns. My thought is that strife leaves a gun with Ulthane and Ulthane makes a portal to the makers home world for strife to escape the destroyers army. He then leaves his second gun on the makers home world after D3 ends and takes off before death arrives. 6) Darksiders 3 dlc. The serpent holes are needed for vulgrim to travel to the makers world to offer wares to death in D2. And he can’t until fury clears it out. So... essentially... the only thing that makes sense timeline wise is : Darksiders 3 prologue, Darksiders 1 prologue, war imprisoned, death goes on a journey and searches for answers and takes years tracking down the crow father ( traveling the universe without permission or help may take time) , Darksiders 3 happens, during which death find the crow father defeats him, gets knocked out and sent through a portal that causes a time lapse, Darksiders 3 ends, death wakes up on the makers world, the rest of the events of Darksiders 2 happen, death dies in the well of souls and either stays dead for many years or the time in the tree of life also has different rules, the rest Darksiders 1 happens, seals break. 4 horsemen resurrect and reunite at full power. The end

Well done. EDIT: The only change maybe is DS3 may end before War is sent off for his revenge by the Council (I know he was not in the chamber chained up but he could have been elsewhere on the Charred Council world as it would make more sense that he was sent after the rebellion of Fury... also the state of Earth in DS3 would indicate that it was after as the Spire was not as high and Ulthane didn't leave his tree post until after Fury left to fight Envy and the Council).
@serielmcleod19005 жыл бұрын

Seriel McLeod see I think Ulthane was in the process of replicating Strife’s Mercy at Strife’s request to better arm humanity. But the Destroyer getting to Haven interrupts all of that. This could be why Ulthane only has Mercy and gives it to War in Darksiders 1.

With regard to the end of DS2, we dont know how long Death stayed dead, or how long it took for humanity to re-appear fully. The narrator says the ‘seeds of humanity were re-sown’ so it could be decades if not centuries before humanity returns properly or at least to the level they were at the beginning of DS 1. so Death’s journey may not have taken 90+ years.

Due to the seals reviving all the horsemen that could’ve/would’ve died I don’t really have any prove with most of these though, I don’t know how most ways of teleportation works in that universe and just based it off of death not really keeping track of down every time he’s knocked out, he doesn’t necessarily have to fairly,

Crazygamer1995 War doesn’t have Strife’s gun. The description on Mercy is that it is a Replica and not the genuine model. We don’t know what happened to Strife after The Assault on Haven but it’s entirely possible that, because we know Ulthane survives, Strife did as well. This would provide him opportunities to traverse the realms and eventually loose Redemption to the Forgelands so that Death could acquire it by the female Maker.

Great video, but something bugs me. Not just that you guys didn't think about it, but that I didn't see any comments giving the same idea. What makes you think all the realms have the same time flow? Is it possible that one day in one realm could be a year in another? That could help with Death's journey taking the 100 years that War was imprisoned. If there's something that says "Time in all realms is the same" then I apologize. I'm an outside observer to the Darksiders universe.
@TrueMastersandMorons2 жыл бұрын
Honestly? We are firm believers in Occam's Razor. The idea that the simplest answer is usually the correct one. While it is possible that the various realms function on different timescales. There is no indication of that possibility anywhere in the lore. There isn't anywhere that says it isn't true either, but it would unnecessarily complicate the world building. Also, we try to theorize as little as possible, lol.

We don’t know yet exactly how that works, we don’t even know where Fury went. Spoilers!!!!! I actually love how Genesis takes place just after the four have slain their kin at Eden. The references too, eastereggs... the studio paid close attention to the lore material. Case in point, you fight Belial in Genesis but he isn’t killed so that he can go on to face Death in Darksiders 2’s DLC campaign. It also takes place just before the seven seals are constructed and the treaty is finalized. War and Death had just committed the genocide - a reference to the Book of Genesis - due to Lucifer’s corruption.

@TrueMastersandMorons2 жыл бұрын
For the how would he know? Theoretically War was able to successfully interpret his earlier vision of the future, but that's mild conjecture. As to why Uriel attacked the Watcher, that one is actually really simple, she's an incredibly honorable warrior, the Watcher was anathema to everything she stood for, so when the watcher strikes down War, someone who should be the Watcher's ally. Uriel leapt to his aid for the sake of honor and justice. Personally we doubt she was aiming for the seal so much as trying to kill the Watcher, but we could be wrong there.

Thanks for the video guys Its very complex storyline with alot of plotholes and weak creative writing The devs didnt think that darksiders would be so popular so they didnt focus on the storyline entirely plus the fact that thq went dead in 2012 gave it an extra reason for not having a strong writing in the first place Let me explain: In the begining of ds3 we see war in chains and warning fury from the conspiracy came upon them right? Then Why he didnt mention her after 100 yrs imprisonment or tried to find her? Sooo much plotholes and confusing events They need to work this out Either in a book or a solid game They need a good writing team to solve this if they wanna continue this saga
@TrueMastersandMorons5 жыл бұрын
Actually it makes perfect sense that he wouldn't mention her or look for her. She was on a counsel mission almost 90 years ago by the time he gets to earth. He knows his sister, There is no reason that it would take her 90 years to do her job. Either it was done and she moved on (either to a new council mission or just to chill) or she was dead and there was nothing he could do (to be fair I doubt he would assume either of his brothers or his sister dead because he knows their power and abilities). Besides he was busy getting revenge. :P

One thing that you guys didn't notice that also suggests when Death's Door takes place, is Abaddon's appearance. He lost his eye during the Abomination Vault novel, and Death's Door features him with that eyepatch. So Death's Door would've come after The Abomination Vault timeline wise. As for when War loses his arm, Death's Door shows us an interesting small panel when Abaddon inquires if Death would use proving his strength in combat as a reason to kill his 'demon'. Death simply remarks that he's confusing him for War and has a flashback to when War seemingly doesn't have that new arm. Now the flashback for when they got their mounts does confuse things a bit I will admit. Either the arm being there is accidental, or they just drew a gauntlet that could be mistaken for that arm. I'll have to go back and check it out real quick.
@UnseelieFaelass5 жыл бұрын
Ok so I checked the comic, and it appears War DOES have his new arm after all. In the minor flashback Death has in his conversation with Abaddon, if you look closely, you can see the design of the left arm is the same as the one in the game. As for the flashback to when they got their horses the hand looks about the same size as the other. And while it's hard to tell, I don't think the gauntlet design on the left hand in that panel is the same as his prosthetic. It's smaller and the finger armor isn't as prominent or pointy looking. So War didn't have his new arm when they got their horses, and doesn't appear to have it when the Abomination Vault happens but does have it when Death has that flashback in the comic, I'd say the Abomination Vault novel was before and the comic occurs after that point where War loses his arm. The Abomination Vault occurs before Death's Door if Abaddon having his eyepatch in the comic is anything to go by. Beyond that I can't say much else. Valiant effort though. One thing that'd help big time, is knowing what year on Earth was happening when War had attacked the human soldiers. I think the comic for the first game said they were a human army. Regardless knowing what year Earth was in would've helped tremendously. As we get Earth's year when Death goes there in his own comic, that being during an outbreak of the Black Death. Of which there were actually several throughout history, and they had different names for each outbreak that occurred depending on where it started.
@TrueMastersandMorons5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, War's comic doesn't say anything about who that army belonged too. But you can see our issues in trying to figure out whether that was his prosthetic in the death's door comics, lol. Thank you!

They should make a 5th game (on the ps5 so we get the graphics that the 5th game would deserve) that features the end war. Hell is still on earth, just the destroyer is dead, and heaven still has warriors and the obvious reason is the other 3 horsemen (horsepeople..?) arrive at the end of the 1st game. Samael is still kicking it somewhere aswell What the actual aim of the horsemen (horsepeople) during the end war is still confusing mystery to me though...they work for the balance but during the end war, theres no need for balance so i dont know what their role would be..maybe they work for the 3rd kingdom? Or just take a side all of their own Edit: plus the fact War broke the 7th seal to summon the rest so the end war would actually start
