Will you showcase the devil claws and what you recommend there? I especially want to understand how it can deal with armored enemies.

-get a Mk IV sword with 60+% damage and very high finesse (Mk VII is an okay substitute, but IV is best) -get a lot of crit chance (reciprocity, shred, 5% chance perk) -get either weakspot dmg, crit dmg or +carapace perk (weakspot + crit is overall best IMO) -shmack a crusher with a push attack + heavy 1 a couple times while dodging his attacks (MkVII would be push attack-light-light-heavy) -riposte his attacks ~0.25 of a second before it hits while looking at his head -?????? -PROFIT Congratulations, you've just nae nae'd on the Scab only-Melee-enemies-No ammo "Scuffed Vermintide" Maelstrom side note : block efficency is good as training wheels until you get the hang of riposte timings, as riposting late drains A LOT of stamina, desperado is always a good pick, since only non-finesse weapons Vet has are shovels and chain weapons

What the other guy said. I'll just add that it helps to have the stacks of brittleness talent when playing vet. Then you can spray the carapace Ogryn's with a few shots before you go in with the claw.

Yo Tanner, loving the Mk7 Shovel as well! Gonna try that Skullcrusher thing out. Because that thing does not give an f, neat little combo of the moveset that I noticed: Push attack >> light >> light -- skips both the horizontal hordeclear lights, just straight-up following the push attack with the strikedown lights, becoming a surprisingly hardhitting, fast single target combo.

Man the other one (other new shovel)lacks the horde clear but it has more reliable head shots. Underrated aspect of this weapon is the skills u save avoiding melee nodes, you dont need alot of the right side tree to be effective

How much does the weakspot damage node contribute toward damage/waveclear? Not to assert the mk5 shovel is bad based on any potential dependency since that node is presumably being taken most of the time.

im curious, why do you recommend the vii shovel over the iii shovel? the iii has a way faster special heavy with a more precise overhead animation, is the iii moveset bad enough to justify the vii over it anyway?

Heavy attack on the 7 is a constant horizontal pattern meanwhile the 3 mixes in a overhead strikedown for some reason (something you already have for the alternate attack)

I might give the MK VII another try, still on MK1 as it has better horde clean and I don't melee elites with most Vet range weapons.

If you're just going for horde clear, why even run the shovel then? Why not run the devil's claw?

The 7 is a straight upgrade from the standard issue shovel, everything is identical but the light pattern and the lack of a stagger special attack that it trades for the flip attack, why stagger when you can just outright kill it?

The mk1 does not have better horde clear. They have the ssme heavy which is where 90% of your horde clear comes from

Thrust + Take A Swing actually can be made to work, but it's clunky as hell. You either need to Shove then wait for the Shove combo to decay, then charge the heavy, or Shove into a purposefully whiffed Shove Follow Up, then immediately charge the heavy. There's enough time to make it work and it will one-shot Crushers very easily, but it's very technical to do in the middle of a horde or while facing multiple targets.

Hey, thanks to you i’m getting better with the mechanics of my combat knife, so i will stick with that or claw sword and get good enough to dodge and control a horde/melee (Veteran) consistently and every time (Console)

I got a good mk VII shovel with decimater III Skull crusher IV and unyielding+carapace.Will recommend change into Decimater IV or one of the perks?

I think it depends what ranged you're using with it. If you're running a boss killer like the plasma or columnus infantry then change unyielding to flak, if you're running a las weapon or something get decimator IV.

Speaking on the blessing limbsplitter being kinda butthole on this.. you may have mentioned and I didn't notice, but it procs the power every 3.5 seconds or whatever but as long as you chain attacks, or input any melee attack BEFORE the cool down is refreshed- it resets the cool down. So in higher density horde clear you get even less value than you emphasized from limbsplitter. I've had it be on cooldown for 3-4 minutes in certain rooms just because you keep restarting the cool down on swing you don't get alot of value out of the blessing even without this wierd quirk.. but knowing what I just said.. it's the worst option as 80% of the time itsnot even active, and you're actively preventing it from being proc'd for 2 or 3 mins at a time. Much rather have the power on chained attacks. Way more value and utility. Night and day. Literally might as well not have a second blessing if you want to run limbsplutter because it takes up a buff spot on my screen that something more valuable could occupy (he 1/100 good console player( (no custom ui)

Because devil's claw has shred and headtaker. If you run crit chance and weakspot/elite/carapace/flak on it and build your talents around crits it deals fine with armour. Bonus if you're playing vet and take the brittleness stacks talent. Old shovel is even worse against armour by default and is slower than devil's claw.

If you're going to do deep dives into a weapon, I would expect a bit more detail than "uncanny sucks here." In my experience, uncanny is one of the best blessings in the game, especially on the new shovels. Some kind of explanation of your rationale or showcase of TTK comparisons would make this content much better.

It should be self explanatory no? It has an alt attack that one or two shots every sibgle armored enemy in the game. You need to hit atleast twice for uncanny to do anything at all.

Tanner, just at least consider the viability of uncanny regarding scab-only faction modifiers, its actually pretty competent where you dont need much commitment to build stacks of uncanny, you can just go light attack city on groups of maulers and flak trash and crushers...and also count for the viability for using the flipped shovel light on flak based enemies.

the flip attack already has very high armor pen, extra rending on a high amor pen attack has little impact

The pickaxe glow up is real, just had to happen in another game Also probably the first time I've seen Skullcrusher being viable One thing for Limbsplitter is that you will reach a 1shot BP with it for both Crusheras and Maulers, if you got fucked by Hadron

More people should avoid showcasing horde clear with the weakest enemies in the game. Nevermind the frequencies of infested packs, or flak packs, or a mix unarmored and everything else. I see it so many times on vids

this is done for several reasons. 1 convivence newly infested are the first to show up in creature spawner lol 2 consistency. testing a million what ifs is kind of a waste of time since the goal is to optimally use weapons. in which case it doesnt matter what the horde is mixed with

I personally prefer the Mark 3 over this one but I can't deny that this one is really good. The Mark 3 pulls out and does the 2 damage ticks when you connect with a hit much faster than the Mk7, and I think it might do a wee bit more damage with the pickaxe attack comparatively. I can fairly consistently one shot gunners with the mark3's pick strike light where the mk7 struggles a little there. Mk3 benefits more from limb splitter + thrust cos you're mostly pulling it out for the pick strike then swapping back to your ranged than to deal with a horde. The standard issue's push attack is a hard strikedown that does a lot of heavy lifting for the weapon. All or nothing grants stacks going up to the listed max value as you lose stamina blocks rather than a flat bonus when you reach 0, So something you're using a lot of push attacks with benefits from that more than something you're rarely using stamina for like the flip shovels. The alt attack poke serves a similar function to the dueling saber stab or ogryn cleaver punches where it's your high stagger interrupt on maulers/crushers that are readying an attack. I don't use it that often, and need to see what situations it's actually really useful for.
