For the few people not aware, there are essentially two primary sides to every speedrunning community: the ones that feel _anything_ that decreases time is fair game, and those that prefer optimizations that don't rely on exploits. The two sides are constantly butting heads, particularly when a new strategy is found. These debates are often what cause new categories to be formed. The speedrunning community for GTA V is actually very unusual for only having three main categories.

Joujoubox Modding while doing speed runs is generally considered unwise. It’s possible to hide other things inside seemingly trivial mods. Games like GTA SA aren’t even allowed Graphics enhancement mods during speed runs for this very reason.

With all these different contested methods, I tend to think the more different categories to accommodate them, each with their own different leaderboard the better. So each one follows a different set of rules.....maybe also a free for all category where anything goes. As for what has already been recorded, they should be kept but have disclaimers about how they were done and put in the appropriate leagues or something.

With how long consoles have been around I'm surprised there isnt just a completely separate speed running category for consoles and PCs. If you’re speedrunning you’re not using a map. You likely already know where everything is
