Hi James, we went to Chatsworth last weekend, cost £40 per person for the market, light trail and house tour, expensive. The food was really costly, a pasty £8, brisket and cheese in a bun £14.00! But it was packed and I thought money was tight. Plenty of barbour jackets and wellies (know what i mean) with hounds trailing along to trip you up. That's my rant!

@jojoynes4823 I can relate! I've spent the last 10 years caring for my Dad. He had Vascular Dementia and needed 24 hour care. He died in May. My head is still all over the place but like you, I watch an episode of By the Curb and I feel better! They are so relatable and refreshingly honest. I also feel like I've been on a journey with them (such a wanky phrase!!) But it's true! I remember when he had the old set-up, if you think how far he's come from there, it's fantastic! Jo - I hope your luck is changing for the better, and there are happy times ahead 😊✌

It got me teary this one - especially when you were in that pub with the DJ. It was touching to see people doing their bit to bring some cheer on a quiet afternoon. We’re all trying, and it’s so hard not to feel absolutely heartbroken about what the UK is dealing with. But here you are, keeping us connected with real communities, our history and heritage. For all of that, much respect to you James. I have seen a few of your videos and like the ones of the north-east I am proud to be from Stockton (a Teessider), very much into culture (British and East European) social history, architecture etc I am interested in something you mentioned in this video about starting set of videos on North Yorkshire coastline and villages.... If you start at Redcar and include Saltburn, Brotton.....Staithes, Whitby and beyond I would also like to recommend you Guisborough (it's a small market town up and coming) about 20mins drive inland from Redcar. Lovely little place, very close to Cleveland Hills. Something which I will also like to mention, in Billingham every consecutive year there is a famous (only one in UK) International Folk Dance Festival (dates 9th to 17th August 2025) whereby folk dance groups from all over the world come for one week to perform their traditional dance in costumes and live performances in Billingham Town Square every day and some performances in theatres and surrounding towns. It might not be your thing, but it is very unique and something different to film, I know its a canny way off yet, but something to consider for next year. Preview videos here Indonesian Dance kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4e9d2uuf69_b9k Dance from Tahiti (South Pacific) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWXWi2l3hK6WqKs Dances from Chile kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIm0qJmXlrJ-j6M Dances from Colombia kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqeyZmiHiNBmpK8 The festival has been going for 60 years - next year August 2025 is 60th anniversary festival. Your Darlington video is not all that bad, I liked it, I think you did one of Hartlepool (just down road from me) which I enjoyed, and also Durham. I enjoyed that vlog James! Honestly...I've thought from the start (which weirdly for me...was the SOUTHEND VIDEO!...I watched it purely by chance because I used to live in Southend)...that YOU don't really know WHY your channel is so popular! So...I'll tell you (from a well-OVER 50s bloke!)...😂... Two things... 1. We get to see places that we may have never been to before. And... 2. YOUR unique "Yorkshire Blunt"...TAKE on these places. It's actually a simple, but also very hard to achieve recipe! It's the same reason that we love... Whitehouse and Mortimer Gone Fishing... And... The Detectorists... And... Salvage Hunters etc etc Just...middle-aged "blokes" take on the world around them. Highlights of this video for ME, were... 1. Seeing that Stephensons Rocket bridge!...because I own a copy of the original biography of Robert Stephenson printed in 1864. 2. Did you notice that the woman you spoke to in Boyes...was a SOUTHERNER? 🤔 I wonder what her story was? 3. Just seeing another majestic northern Georgian industrial town (City?)...which I'll almost certainly never get to myself. So...as much as you think the video was cr@p... It most certainly WASNT mate. 😊

@@Megavector2022 Ah, now Property - you talk my language 🏠. Depends what u r after ... but actually the North East is pretty run down and certainly does not have the kudos York has . . . A 2bed miner's cottage in Darlo, if in fairly good condition will cost around £70k upwards, in very bad condition and needing full refurb then it's about £40k to £45k (don't pay more!). But every town has it's low end and high end, and in the "West End" area they are anything from £350,000 upwards to perhaps £900,000 ?? (maybe more, for a 3/4bedder.) If you live in York or outskirts then don't come up here unless you are skint - they don't increase in value that much.
@Megavector20223 күн бұрын
@@joline2730 You would be suprised, a lot of the York indigenous population want to get out of here, no kudos, that's a bit of a myth and very clever marketing by the Council so they can charge higher rates. I live on the outskirts in a 3 bed, bit of a waste really as there's only me lives here. I guess the way forward for me is a bit more research and a drive up to assess the areas.
@joline27303 күн бұрын
@@Megavector2022 I can give you ideas of good and bad areas, covering all of County Durham : GOOD: Durham City (expensive) or outskirts (cheaper) - it's a University Town so lots of Rentals. Gainsford, Spennymoor, Heighington, Whitby, Sedgefield, Middridge, Newton Aycliffe, Houghton Le Spring. BAD: Horden (the worst!), Peterlee, Shildon, Bishop Auckland, Close House, Coundon. I came up from London, but I spent TWO YEARS researching the whole of the county first! On R/move search the minimum price and you will get a good idea of what the areas are like. I enjoyed this vlog. It’s real life. I absolutely hate fake people. You are authentic. The town is very cute. Thank you for taking us there. When I was in Camden Market in London last month on a Sunday it was so crowded. My daughter and I walked different directions when shopping and we lost each other for over an hour and guess what…neither of us had phone service. Thank goodness she’s tall and had a bandanna on her head so I was able to spot her head bopping around way off in the distance. But it was pretty weird to be such a busy area had no service. Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great time celebrating.

We've been watching and enjoying your videos for ages but we're not sure we're welcome as Southerners on your channel! It seems very aimed at Yorkshire folk. Come down to the South and stay a bit longer than a couple of days. There's loads of history and beautiful places down here
@bythecurb3 күн бұрын
You're definitely welcome it's just I try to stay near to my daughter as I spend quite a lot of time with her, but I promise I'll come down south really soon.

It's not about not being welcome, it's a lot more of a headache to drive down south from up north these days, too much roadworks, too much traffic on the roads and long journey times.

I live in Darlington and enjoyed the video but you probably need to do a bit more research before you visit because you missed a load of interesting places some of which you literally walked past.

To be fair not many people watch tv now as they watch things that resonates with them on YT and streaming services. This channel is relatable and real because if something is good you say it but also if it is crap you say it's crap.

As a 35 year old male in a 66 year old body and someone who has never been to Darlington. I loved it as it was very informative. It has a Santander bank which are like rocking horse **** to find. Loved the indoor market, The fresh looking fruit n veg looked awesome. So they would be on my to do list and a fab pub with a DJ in the afternoon. Great for us young at heart old gits who are asleep by 8pm lol. The Boot and Shoe if I remember rightly. I will research further. So for every troll saying boring there are probably 10 of us who get something from it but don't normally say or comment..The no1 info was good to hear too. R.I.P old drone, you served James well. Keep on doing what you do James, its worked up to now.

Still love the rants James. Great town Darlington, One of the few towns in this country that hasn't been decimated by out of town retail parks
