This was an awesome enrichment walk & dip in the creek!! I have rescued & trained several animals, who have had some issues to work on. To help the alpaca's adjust to, the halter, it might help them, by giving them a high value treat. A special treat that they love. For instance, get the halter out, & just show them, say Halter & Treat, then treat a small amount. Reward with praise, if they're calm only, then Treat & say TREAT. Put halter on face, give more praise & treat. ( Saying Treat & Halter) When it's on fully & they are calm, give larger amount of very special treat. This special high value treat, should only be given, when working with them, & training them. I love Houston, but he needs to be quiet & stay still & out of the way when these "Donkey Poodles" are being trained. For now, I would recommend that ONLY an adult, work with the Donkey Poodles, on new tasks, until they are calmer with the halter process & walk to the creek. I truly love Houston, he just needs to learn how to be QUIET sometimes. Especially when dealing with an animal, who could seriously hurt him or someone else (accidentally). The DP are learning many new things, all at once. I think the Donkey Poodles did awesome, & loved the walk & creek. It was a challenge for Rufus to trust you, Daniel & let go of his fear. I'm so glad that he eventually did!! You have a quiet, calm, but firm disposition & it helped Rufus to do every thing you were asking him to. God bless y'all.

Daniel - just a piece of advice - when you have animals on a halter lead- Don’t loop the lead rope in your hand like Houston is doing. Possible to get rope burns or a hand caught in the rope if the animal pulls away. Talking from experience.

The Alpacas love, love, cool, fresh, water! Both the creek and the sprinkler. I think the sprinkler is the bigger hit since they will get to use it every day and the cool, wet, ground will continue to keep them comfortable even when the sprinkler is off. Excellent idea!

Mind you it most likely wont be icecold ( depending on the strength of the sun, the quicker the water evaporates the cooler the drink will be ), but its a handy way to cool your drink on the beach if you dont want to lug arround an icechest. 😎👍🏻 That is how our bodies regulate our temperature, its not the sweat that cools us, its the evaporation of the sweat. Pigs for example cant sweat, therefor they roll arround in mud as the water evaporates slower from the mud. That way pigs stay cool for a longer period of time. Did I mention I am a science teacher 😉? Ps. Water is the only element on earth that can be in all three stages at the same time, solid-, liquid-, and gas form. And you can observe it on an early spring day. Go to a frozen lake that just started melting, when the sun hits the water on top of the ice it evaporates in to its gas form. Tadaa all thre forms in one go. 😎👍🏻
