When using darning foot #14, you're supposed to pull the needle thread below the foot, not pull the bobbin thread on top of it. When both threads are beneath the foot, you don't get the loose threads trailing within your foot and getting under your stitches.

Why have two feet that do the same thing? I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm really curious as to why.
@MadamSew6 жыл бұрын
They have their own set of differences :) Some people prefer using #14, others 23. Foot number 23 is transparent, 14 is not. The needle opening of 14 is more circular. Foot number 14 is pushed down by the needle bar, 23 has a spiral spring. But they can definitely be used for similar projects! I prefer using #23. Hope this solves your query :)

Your finished quilt sample is covered by your foot name header so the work is not visible.

What stitch length and tension should be used with these feet please?

I still don't really understand which I should choose. Is it just preference or are there some circumstances where one is better than the other?

I think it is just preference!

These are called Darning Feet, how do you use them to actually darn? That is what I am searching for. Are there any videos on that topic?

The bar on the spring loaded foot that is to go over the needle bar broke on my first use🤬 and the #14 foot doesn’t even touch my quilt at all. So now what can I try. I have a quilt partially quilted.

MadamSew I have been in contact with customer service and they are sending me a new #23 darning foot. I am wondering about the #14, is it to hover over the fabric or should it sit down into the fabric. Customer service did send me information and a photo of how it is to fit on the machine. But my foot hovers over the quilt and does not touch it at all.

I wish you would get rid of the banner as it interferes with the tutorial and you can't see what you're doing. Also, you should take the camera out just a bit to give a better scope of what you're explaining. This is just my opinion, but I notice it on all of your videos and they are hard to watch with it there, that's all. Great tutorials by the way!

Yes, I so agree! There's not much point in watching these as the focal point always seems to be just behind the banner.
