I've been a Wrexham fan for over 40 years. Not a single person I spoke to believed we were going to beat Sheffield UTD at our place let alone in the replay. I was astounded at the way we recovered from going a goal down and losing 2 centre backs in the first leg and actually deserving to win by the end of the second half. I, like everyone else expected that to be it and on the first half at Brammall lane I was even more convinced we'd lose. UTD missed chance after chance though and we all know how that can end up. In the second half we were getting well on top which is amazing given the gulf between the 2 clubs and we'd made 6 changes to our team ourselves. We went all out to try to snatch a win in 90 and got done on the break twice, that's football and neither club wanted extra time with everything else we've got to play for. I was just shocked by the interview and attitude. In fact it put a downer on the whole thing when we'd all been treated to two classic cup games. They complained about the ref in the first game as well yet we were denied a stone wall penalty and they guy who snatched their equaliser should've walked for the professional foul. I didn't see anything wrong with the reffing in the replay at all save for perhaps the foul for the first pen started just outside the box. I'm sorry, I'm a straight talker myself but Billy Sharp has made himself look silly there. It's caused a hatred between the clubs which will probably last years and there was no call for it. Their fans bricked a supporters coach with kids on it as well... I mean... they'd won the game and there had been no trouble between fans 🤷‍♂️ I don't think it's Wrexham that's disrespectful tbh. All over a post on Twitter? Do me a favour, that's just excuses for bad sportsmanship.

As a Blade, I know what Billy is saying but think he'd have been better not to have said it. I've always applauded the underdog off the pitch at Bramall Lane, win or lose and understand the support for them from neutrals. But the antics of Wrexham, some of their fans and the media over the two games got up my nose a bit. They behaved like they are superstars, believing their own press and maybe playing to their Disney series which made it a circus. It's always great as a fan and an underdog to have a cup run and take a large away following, but they were obnoxious throughout.

Hi ttblade, Ryan Reynolds is a superstar and media follows him everywhere like any other Hollywood celebrity. If you'd have watched the Welcome to Wrexham series you would have seen the football matches were, on the whole, not at the forefront with the show tending to focus on the behind the scenes issues of running the football club, stories from Wrexham's past, fans experiences of the club and background to some players. (with the exception of the playoff game against Grimsby). I'd be interested to hear your opinions on the 'Wrexham antics' you have mentioned and please don't say about the tweet from the club of our players doing the Son celebration because if you haven't heard/read the background to said photo, then you should as it will clearly explain for you how it was not a slight against (or looking past) Sheffield United. Also, would there be this much hate or disrespect if it was another club from the National League that had done what Wrexham have done against Coventry and Sheffield United this season? Woking or Aldershot for example?

Wrexham have been stuck in the National/ Conference league for 15 years, the longest team to be in there. We nearly went bust, but saved by loyal fans paid a tax bill, kids donated their pocket money. Football like life has lots of ups and downs, Wrexham have been down for a very long time. Generations of their fans have never even seen them play in the football league proper. So why begrudge them their stroke of luck in getting two wealthy fabulous owners and enjoying the current upside.

Wrexham pushed a team that is 70 positions above them and likely to be in the Prem League next season to the brink of an FA cup knockout, salvaged only by goals deep into stoppage time in both matches. You can only play the teams on your schedule and Wrexham have at least shown the talent to at least be midtable or better in the Championship. It's just sour grapes if you get annoyed at their players or fanbase who are excited about that prospect simply because they are getting some publicity.

The truth is that Wrexham FC put out an official tweet insinuating they were playing Spurs after the draw was made. In retaliation a supposed Sheff Utd fan (NOT the club) put out a tweet that SUFC were already selling Spurs tickets. Another point that hasn't been mentioned is that Phil Parkinson has alot of history with Sheff Utd and Billy Sharp. Parkinson was manager of Bradford and Bolton when both clubs were challenging us for promotion and many years ago we had to put up with PP's touchline antics complaining about ref decisions and playing very physical long ball football, with James Hanson used as a battering ram for Bradford and Gary Madine used as a battering ram at Bolton. Sharp has a fantastic record against Phil Parkinsons teams and always scores against them. Anyhow congratulations to Wrexham, helped create 2 entertaining games. Hope and expect both team to be promoted this season.

WREXHAM FC are a much bigger club than Sheffield utd in the current modern day world. I guess Billy boy is just a jealous guy, wishing he was 10 years younger and playing for a real football club. It’s all from the officiating as usual. The referee made the game frustrating for everyone involved with Sheffield United; if the referee hadn’t got everything wrong all evening, and got drawn into the circus, I don’t think Sharp or anyone else would’ve spoken negatively in public. The referee wouldn’t have given half of the decisions in Wrexham’s favour that were clearly incorrect if it wasn’t for the Disney+ series - that’s where the frustration came from on the night; and Wrexham’s fans and social media team were disrespectful before the game.

Hi Sam, not here for an argument just to give different viewpoint to what happened. Wrexham themselves could have complaints against the officiating time at points during both games. The most standout one in their favour being the clear penalty missed for the handball in the first game before Wrexham hit the crossbar at 2-2. IMO both teams benefited and suffered from refereeing and different points of the tie but on balance probably has the same amount of wrong decisions go against them. A silly point I think to bring up the Disney+ series because if you had watched it the focus on the actual football is low compared to Amazon's All or Nothing series for example. I wonder do referees do everything for Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham so they can get on the doc? Majority of Wrexham fans were not at all disrespectful (although we have some idiots just like Sheff Utd did). Please read up on the social media team post (or I will tell you) before the game after the draw if this has upset you and you will see it was not disrespectful in the slightest. As always there are two sides to the story and were Sheff Utd not disrespecting Wrexham by not announcing the away attendance at the replay? A courtesy that is given in every football match across the country in my experience. Was it not disrespectful from their fans before the games predicting 4 and 5-0 wins because you are nearly a Premier League team and Wrexham are National League?

Fully agree that in the first leg Wrexham were very unlucky not to get a penalty for handball against Anel; I would caveat that with saying that I think the small decisions across both games went Wrexham’s way (probably due to the crowd intensity on their side and the Hollywood story), and the sending off of Jebbison in the first leg doesn’t sit well with me at all - a fourth official getting involved in that way was bordering on ridiculous when it wasn’t a blatantly violent action which could’ve done serious damage; a tussle with a small flick out of a leg should never result in that type of intervention. I think (and I’m not trying to be over argumentative either) comparing the Wrexham series to the All or Nothing documentaries is probably a little naive; the officials are in charge of games at the highest level in those scenarios, and are on television most weeks - being on a documentary is next to irrelevant for them, as they have a platform and generate reasonable wealth. The officials in charge of Wrexham games, even in the instance of these cup games, are of a much lower standard, and really get their moment in the spotlight - hence their failure to manage their own performance. As far as announcing away attendance, I’m not sure that’s ever happened at Sheffield United - we never do that, and in truth, I don’t see why any club ever would. That’s one that possibly happens more at the lower levels, or has stopped in recent years, but I’ve had a season ticket at Sheffield United for 20 years and haven’t noticed it once. I don’t think it’s majorly disrespectful of fans of higher league clubs predicting healthy wins against non-league opposition; that should be expected - I’d say more naive, because Wrexham are a non-league club in name only. Their finances, set-up, playing and coaching staff, and owners, are anything but that level. In terms of our fans, I’m sure they were disrespectful, there are lots of incredibly stupid Sheffield United fans who I argue with on a weekly basis; we still have fans who think that Sander Berge is “average” just because he plays with elegance, and doesn’t rush his decision making.

@@WannabePlayer18 I agree with most of your arguments above tbf - The Jebbison red was a strange one and was surprising to me mainly because I have only seen a 4th official get involved a handful of times in 20 years. It was petty and footage of what happened wasn't great however he did kick out and the way the game is today by the 'letter of the law' was probably correct although I fully understand from a Sheff Utd point of view you would be frustrated. I do find it telling you didn't appeal the decision as I guess more angles would have been made available to clubs to analyse. Your point about my comparison on referees is fair and I agree with the point you made. However the ref for the 2nd leg (which I guess is the game the majority of your fans were annoyed about his decisions in) is named Leigh Doughty and for the past 2 years has refereed mostly in the Championship meaning he will be getting scrutinised by the bosses to gauge whether he can handle the next level as the new wave of refs come through. My point being as you say they may be above worrying about a 30 second cameo in a Disney documentary. If Sheff Utd don't announce away attendance then that is fair - just in my 18/19 years going to Wrexham games across the country it is always done and both sets of fans applaud each other as a sign of respect for the effort and cost it may have taken to attend the match but if it is not normal higher up then fair enough. FWIW I thought Sander Berge was one of the biggest difference makers between the two ties - I thought he gave Sheff Utd so much more control in terms of possession and attacking prowess in the replay considering I though midfield was controlled by us 1st time around. His goal yesterday vs Swansea was technically fantastic and looked effortless and you could see why there is interest from above in him. Good luck for the rest of the season. It looks more likely every week you will be earning your place back in the prem and you'll be hoping you can have a season like your 1st season back there a couple of seasons ago. Got no problem with you at all mate just seen loads of comments from Sheff Utd fans (and rival clubs) hating on Wrexham for having good owners (which everyone wants - not R+R just good owners in general) and for having positive press.
