I grew up listening to Burt Bacharach’s hits and my favorite female singers were Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick and Jackie DeShannon. In my opinion, we had the best music of the last century!

I would agree, that Dusty looms more significant now than in actual life. Why? Because she was taken away and no longer with us! RIP

What a brilliant deep songwriter and man. Glad Dusty recorded his songs. Just was in Spain and Dusty's version of The Look of Love was playing in several places. The version with the tenor sax. Pure bliss to sit by the sea with a drink and hearing it. ❤️🥂❤️ Thanks again Darren. T

Saw Burt in 2015 in Melbourne. Had 2nd row, just off centre. The people in front knew some of the musos in his band. at the end, they had a quick chat to the people in front of us two. I regret not pushing in and inviting Deb and myself to meet him. RIP Burt . . legend then, legend now and forever.

It's wonderful to see this. He mentions, briefly, Dusty's re-recording of The Look Of Love. I always wondered how he felt about that. His comment indicates that he was involved, though I wasn't aware of that. I think his recollections of being with Dusty at The Grammys are not entirely correct. He talks of encouraging Dusty to release Wishin' And Hopin' when he won for Alfie, but these release were 2 or 3 years apart.

It's unusual to not have an interviewer. What interview is this from? Is it part of something bigger where he talks about a lot of other singers and/or industry people, not just Dusty? This kind of insight with his experience is golden. Now I have to go and try to find what he talks about just in this excerpt, like the 'Nashville' album (not sure what that is), and Elton with Paul Buckmaster (or meister), and The Bacharach Sound, The Hitmaker, the Albert Hall video, etc. all the things he mentions that I don't know what they are or where to find them. He's kinda difficult to listen to like that, but it's just his personality.

The album Burt talks about is *Dusty in Memphis* (1969) . But in 1963 with her former folk/pop group *The Springfields* , she recorded *Folk Songs from The Hills* in Nashville.

I'd like to know who was the sax player on the look of love!
@RBS314Ай бұрын
Was either Dennis Springer, or Teddy Wilson...I think.
@jrileycain916Ай бұрын
@@RBS314 Turns out there are a couple of different mixes of Dusty singing The Look Of Love. One has an extended sax solo. The other mix was the one we heard on the radio in the USA. The sax solo was short and totally different, sounds like a different player, maybe Bud Shank?

I only first knew this guy's name from the Gieco commercial many years ago. But I had already known the music. Same for Dusty before KZbin. I knew the music. I didn't know the names or background.
