Saw Ms Bell a few months ago, on her 81st birthday. She remains an electric performer!

Madeline came to New York with Dusty many years ago and called me and asked to speak to my late Mom. Madeline put Dusty on the phone also, and my Mother was blown out of the water to speak to Dusty! Dusty greeted my Mom with:"Hi Mom!" Yes! my Mother almost fainted! Madeline did this sweet thing for my Mom. That's why she has a place in my heart... I may never see Madeline again, but I wish her the most beautiful health, wealth, happiness and love...

The more old clips I see /listen to of Madeline the more I think she should have been a huge international solo star . She had it all , a powerful and sublime voice , a warm engaging charisa and she always dressed with such innate style - not always easy to pull off with 60s & 70s fashions I think! But Madeline always looked great .She nailed it every time . She should write a book about her life . She has worked with truly amazing people ...and of course they were lucky to work with the truly amazing Madeline Bell too !!

Thank again for this insightful post Darren. Always loved Madeleine. Seen her perform and she's brilliant. I was also introduced to her at one of the Dusty Days in West London by Julie Felix. They sang Goin Back together. ❤

Check out Bell's A Poppin' and Doin' Things, two great albums by Madeline imo. Gives Lesley and Kiki a mention too. Lovely interview :)
