I've just binge-watched the 5 episodes, more or less in one go!. I got to end of episode 4 by 2 am this morning, and have just finished the last episode now! All I can say is Wow!. What an adventure Darren and that heat looks brutal !!! Absolutely loved watching this. I follow your channel as well as the pubcast and the individual guys on there too. You did a great job of editing this, and you really captured the beauty of the landscape. You got some superb photos each day that you must be really proud of. Kudos to you for completing the walk in that heat and carrying all that gear. I bet you enjoy looking back on this as a lovely record of your achievement. On a side note, I did the Shropshire Way last year, which is also a superb walk through beautiful / gorgeous / lovely / superb 🤣 countryside. But you have given me an appetite to do the Cumbria Way. I love Wales and I love Scotland, but the Lakes do have that certain something don't they?. Thanks for this series of videos Darren, I wish you did more, as they are such a good watch. All the best, Phil

A great ending to your adventure! There is no glory in heatstroke - you did the right thing. Those hills will be there in better weather if you feel you must climb them. I’ve enjoyed this trip with you very much. I’ve only seen England through films, so it’s a treat to be out like this. Thanks for sharing!

No walk of shame.... Doing the right thing under the prevailing conditions. Can see me taking the more responsible route when I get back out there. Enjoyed this episode ... (of course). Thanks for sharing Daren

No walk of shame here Darren. Common sense served you better. What a brilliant end to an epic series. That stream must have been freezing. Really enjoyed your adventure and commentary along the way.

No walk of shame there. It would have been shame if you'd gone up and had to call out the emergency services. If you'd gone up you would have missed out on that wonderful pool, which looked so much better than a shower. There's always a benefit to doing the right thing. The good walker is the adaptable walker. Its been an absolute pleasure to follow along with you on this wee adventure and I'm sure it won't be the last one.

Great ending to a brilliant series Darren - I think I remember you saying on the pubcast that North Wales was your favourite part of the U.K. - I get the impression that you may now have changed your mind about that ? Thanks for the laughs and smiles along the way 👍

Bless you Darren you made me properly laugh at the end there getting in that pool. I was sad that you referred to the change of plan as a 'walk of shame' no-one would question the common sense of protecting yourself. Imagine if you had carried on and collapsed from heat exhaustion. It has been an absolute pleasure watching your journey. Stay safe 🙏☕

I'm not sure if I've commented on your previous episodes (apologies I have been very lazy with commenting recently) but I have to say that I've really enjoyed following your adventures on this little series. Even though you didn't get as far as you'd planned, hats off to you for what you did achieve and thank you for sharing it with us all :-)

You did far more than I did in that heat. I didn't even go anywhere for a walk! A wise decision to bail out. You have to be sensible in those conditions.

Wainwright described Catbells as "a family fell where grandmothers and infants can climb the heights together" - Well I have dragged my wife (who is a grandmother :) ) up those bloody wet rocks near the summit and I can tell you that it was not enjoyable ;)

Not the walk of shame, it was a sensible decision, in that heat with no water not a healthy combination.

No shame in not going with plan A, B or C in those conditions, buddy. The hills will still be there for the next time. And being told about that secret spot by a local was justification. Everything happens for a reason.
