The solution to keep the paint lasting longer: Clean it, then put a layer of clear coat paint on it, whether it be from a spray can, or brush applied. Even clear nail polish.

That thing is tinier than I expected. I'd think it have a bit more chunk but it's a four thirds lens so it makes sense how small it is.

Spread nail hardener over the painted-on numbers, which will create a transparent coating that will keep the numbers from rubbing off

Meike got the designs from what used to be the Veydra Mini Priemes. Which were practically Panavision Primos for a fraction of a fraction of their price. The Veydras used to sell for around a thousand bucks and had perfect quality control and much better markings. The Meike are not as well made although they’re optically the same. I have a set of three Veydras and they’re the reason I’m not gonna move away from MFT anytime soon. There’re no lenses for Super 35 or Full Frame that can compete with the Veydras or Meike for under 6K.
@DarrylCarey4 жыл бұрын
never owned a Veydra, only used one once and you are right about the build being better. The MEIKE on the GH5 feels really comfortable and really fits the MFT system well. I have a S1H but handle use it because the MFT camera is much easier to use and the S1H can shoot 5.9K but you can not use a monitor while shooting in 5.9K. MEIKE have an 8mm T2.2 coming soon, that would be a great lens for the MFT system.

@DarrylCarey interesting what you say about using the GH5 in preference to the S1H. I love the colour science of the S1H/S1 but the size does put me off. I have a GH4 currently which is still a great camera, and it's even slightly more compact than the GH5. I've been thinking about upgrading, mainly for better low light and preferably more dynamic range. I'm keen to wait for the GH6/8 before deciding, but I'm still thinking a GH5S would be a good choice for me and enough for what I need. Anyway these Meike lenses look great. I've been shooting with Nikkor AI/AIS glass and a metabones for several years, and pleased with the images I get. What sort of image quality difference would I see? And yes please explain T stops versus f stops at some point...

Same! Got the whole set apart from the oddball 19mm T2.6. Mount swappable as well (though... with the company belly up, good luck finding swap mounts (I purchased E-mounts for them); but a bunch do cover APS-C). They're tremendous value. Real cinema primes. Adam Wilt and Noah Kroll got good stuff on them out there. The Vazen anamorphics have a similar footprint as well, would love to add those sometime. And those DZOFILM zooms... Gotta love MFT. Hopefully GH6 will be beast!

I would definitely like to see an extended explanation of t stop vs f stop. Great content, thanks for this !
@randomgeocacher4 жыл бұрын
T-stops: light transmission. F-stop how open the lens is. Assuming perfect optics with zero light loss, they are same, but in real world you get less T than F. F-stops tell you how big your bokeh balls will be, t-stop how lit your picture be.

Hey Derryl. Great video. I have that Zeapon slider and that small pano photography head. I hadn't even considered combining them. 🤦 Thanks for the tip, my friend.

Hope you and the family are well, crazy times right now. The Pano head is great because of the size and price.

Nice video. I am wondering whether I need this lens as I have a Leica 10-25mm F1.7 in my arsenal though. I have never used sliders, how do you control the head and make sure it behaves as intended for the shot? Tk u

Hi Darryl, just checked my online retailer here in China, found their 12, 16, and 32 versions (all T2.2) but not the 50. A bit of a shame but didn't realize there were so many options from them. Works out about 530 NZD retail. Might work out cheaper grabbing it from Alibaba.

Wow that it cheaper, let me see if I can cancel my order with Amazon.

Great video mate. I wanted to see how this lens performs on the gh5 and I ended up looking at the slider. I actually saw the review you were mentioning in your video, glad that the slider works fine on a table. Did you try to use it on a tripod? Does that work well?

How do you find the Meike lenses do on the GH5 in low light conditions? I'm looking to upgrade my GH5 from the kit lenses it came with and I've been bouncing in between the idea of getting these Meike's or Olympus' series of MFT f/1.8 primes.
@DarrylCarey3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, the Meike lenses are full manual which will give you more control on you focus and T-Stops. T2.2 is about the same as F/2 on photography lenses so not much between them.
@DerrykSchieck3 жыл бұрын
@@DarrylCarey Gotta be careful there, they also have a fullframe equivalent in apurture. It is darker by the cropfactor in stops. So it is more like a 4.5/5 on a ff phtography lens say an EF L glass. This might only apply to the" bokey" or DOF you get, I am not 100% there.
