Hey everyone, what did you think of this passage from the two books? Would you be interested to see a video on Luke's thoughts as he was being shocked? He actually never even knew such an ability existed. I find it odd how Yoda never mentioned this to him...or Obi-Wan from the other realm for that matter. Thanks so much for watching, I hope you're having a nice day today :) MTFBWY

I found it went a bit far, I didn't buy into it as much as your other videos - the main thing being him remembering Qui Gonn and the talk of the One who will bring balance. Yes Anakin is buried deep but I think what's happening is more simple, more immediate - just what was in the video about Luke being his son, Padme's son, his son who loves him. Absolutely. I can imagine he had a flood of (thoughts and) feelings but that was well covered by the montage at the beginning. He wouldn't be thinking about prophecies and I think it takes away from the scene to imagine him considering that sort of issue at this time.

I saw RotJ in theaters when I was 5-6 (1983?). Even though I was very young I can still remember bits and parts of it. Like my Mom reading the scroll to me. I tried to understand what was going on, I'd seen the other two movies, of course, but being so young, it was kind of confusing. I *do* remember the end when Vader kills Palpy and I remember there was a lot of applause and yelling when it happened. I guess you could say everyone was surprised. Being an 80s movie, you knew the Rebellion was going to win in the end but the actual way that it happened was still a surprise, I suppose. I especially remember the uproar when the Executor SSD slammed into the DS! I think that got more applause than when Palpy was killed! I'm happy to have had the experience, since I'm near 40 now, it's a treasured memory.

Vader had lost so much in his life. In fact, he lost everything he had ever known before he became Darth Vader. But this one boy, who hardly knows anything about Vader, treats him with the utmost compassion, especially after having learned of their relation to each other. He was the only person, besides Padme, who believed that Vader could be redeemed, and he persevered in his attempts to bring his father back to the light. How could Vader not save him? "A Jedi shall not know love," my ass. Love is exactly what brought Anakin back.

I think the beauty of this tragedy of the Sith Taking over and the Jedi falling was essential in restoring balance. The jedi's intent to maintain peace and assist around the galaxy is good and noble, but their defiance of human emotions made it impossible to sense evil. Not that one should toy with the dark just to try it, but to have light, there also has to be dark. It seemed a lot of the jedi relied on the idea of a force user to just remove the sith and things could remain as they were. But love is what redeemed someone with power to crush the face of evil. I think the union of Anakin and Padmé was essential as it incurred because of love and brought about peace restorers and defenders who basically salvaged the efforts of prior generations to restore light. Intricate stuff.. but I love it

I Much more understand the movie now in my 40s. Good stuff. Annakin simply couldn't believe he had produced such a good hearted offspring. This kind soul totally lacking in malice. With no resentment at his father whatsoever, despite his absence from luke's life. Annakin basically becomes ashamed of himself. And looks with disgust at Palpatine sadistically torturing the boy. And thats it. Nobody got through to him. Not Obi won, not yoda, not his wife, but Luke got through to him for some reason. To some degree anakin had always been treated as an instrument by everyone in his life. Obligated to some duty. But not luke! Luke doesn't want anything from him. No duties or obligations, or missions to save the galaxy. Just wants his dad

Anakin skywalker and darth vader are the same person despite what everyone including himself would say through out the saga, this was vader's final realization, by knowing this he had to kill the sith which was emperor palpatine and himself. This is why he let himself die in the end, finally fulfilling his destiny and bringing peace, but not before taking one last look at his son who he loved for redeeming him and showing him the light, for once in decades he had finally felt love again and it was from his son, a love which connected him to padme and anakin finally died happily a fallen sith lord and returned jedi. The scene before Vader threw Palpatine over the edge was waaaaaay more powerful without the screaming "no" added in the new version. This one actually brought tears in my eyes. Anakin was always there, but Vader had suppressed him for so long. But the love and compassion of his son ultimately brought Anakin back. Palpatine had underestimated one of the most basic human emotions: love. Both the Jedi and the Sith view love as a weakness, but for different reasons. The Jedi believed any form of attachment, including love, would lead to greed, which would lead to jealousy, which would ultimately lead to the Dark Side. The Sith believed love was useful for feeding the very things the Jedi warned against, but they also viewed it as a weakness that could soften a Sith. Therefore, it wasn't uncommon for ancient Sith to murder their lovers, after giving birth to an heir that would carry on the legacy.

This scene, showing the son born from the love he shared with Padme was being tortured and he might lose another of his loved one really bring it full circle

I've thought about what Vader thought as he destroyed Palpatine too. Anakin's been manipulated by him in Revenge of the Sith and was in Palpatine's clutches for so long. I think it was a turning point for Anakin personally in a way that he refused to let the past and his guilt control him anymore. Even letting Palpatine control him as well, and he had the strength to overcome the Sith, Palpatine, and overcome himself. ... Got emotional there. In a way, Luke saved him and he saved himself. Gotta say, the Star Wars universe is full of Gary Stus, but hehe... to have something this deep, to come back into the light and realize that you were good after suffering for so long must be a relief.

Is there, or is there plans for a video regarding what all that lightening did to Luke? I mean taking all that energy full blast for that long a duration could have left some lingering effects, at least. Also, I;d love to see a video about Roka Gepta, the sorcerers of Tund, since I enjoyed the Lando books.

That re-edit of the scene at the beginning was perfect! I'm not a big fan of the prequels after seeing the original trilogy, but I did see the prequels first so that re-edit really got me in them feels, seeing the whole series unfold to that moment. It even made that "NOOO" feel really authentic, instead of cliche, which a multi-million dollar director made it feel. Great work man! Subscribed!

I think when Vader watched Luke be electrocuted, a lot of thoughts and personal regrets raced through his mind. He ultimately betrayed and struck down Mace Windu. He betrayed the Jedi Order and murdered so many of them from old masters to the younglings. He ended up killing Padme and his best friend, Obi Wan. A big part of him regretted those choices because he thought he was doing what was right, but ended up making himself isolated, alone, and he ultimately was responsible for his wife dying. But when he saw Luke, a glimmer of Anakin was reawakened to an extent. He thought he could save Luke by turning him to the dark side, but failed. When he saw Palpatine, the man he trusted to be the only one to save the ones he loved, torturing his son to death, it was a revelation for Vader. He was about to lose another loved one, but not by his means, but by the man he trusted and stayed loyal to. In that moment, Vader was no more and Anakin was reborn. He refused to let someone he cared about die again, especially to the man who manipulated him for so long. As he was being electrocuted, Anakin knew his suit was going to be crippled and that ultimately he would die. He didn't care though as he mustered every last bit of his strength to save his son, and kill Palpatine. Once he threw Palpatine over and felt him die, Anakin most likely thought to himself that he had finally done it, and that he wasn't a prisoner anymore.

Should've used the original footage where he didn't say no right before he killed the emperor. His silence and body language was so much more powerful.

Also, another thing you can note was that Anakin was not able to save his mother, he tried to save Padame but failed, but at that moment he realized he could save the last person that still loved him and it was his son.

It's interesting to have the perspective the books give to some of these scenes. I agree that, in essence, Vader and Anakin were 2 different entities, or the flip side of one another. Vader represented the hate, the grief, and the rage and Anakin represented the love and compassion. I see it a bit like the greek God Atlas. Anakin was desperately trying to hold up a planet to stop himself getting crushed under it, while Vader was the planet. Eventually Anakin was able to let go of the planet & rise up once again & it took the near death of his son to do this. At this point, Vader was no more, the last remnannts dying with the Emperor.

Hello there! I love your What If series. I've been thinking: What if Anakin Skywalker was injured before his fall to the Dark Side? The scenario has Anakin receiving injuries similar to the ones he got on Mustaphar. The event occurs BEFORE Skywalker pledged himself as Palpatine's apprentice, and Obi-Wan is NOT the perpetrator. Furthermore, I see it happening before Anakin met the Chancellor at the Opera, so he never hears the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise and his life-saving powers. I also think the accident would occur in a steel foundry or something of the sort at Coruscant. More importantly, the event would be beyond Anakin's control for all intents and purposes, so he would not share the blame for his own predicament. Also, no copouts like "his opponent had the high ground," "he let his anger and arrogance control him," etc. I see three possible endings: 1) Subsequent events lead Anakin down the Dark Side and the rest of the story plays out just like in Rebels, Rogue One, and Episodes IV-VI. 2) Anakin does fall to the Dark Side, but manages to return to the Light before or after Palpatine enacts Order 66 in time to help the remaining Jedi and hopefully undo any damage he might have done while under the influence of the Dark Side. 3) Despite the odds being stacked against him, Anakin does not fall to the Dark Side at all and pulls through his own pain and suffering in time to stop Sidious, destroy the Sith for good and end the Clone Wars. The aftermath from 2 and 3 would have Anakin coming to terms with what happened to him and what he did before he pulled himself together. Would the Jedi Order (assuming it's still around) expel him, grant him the rank of Master, or do something else entirely? Could Anakin still become the greatest Force-user of his time after losing so much of his power so traumatically? How do you think that would've played out?
@jesseoreilly17922 жыл бұрын
In scenario 1, it's possible that Palpatine would use Anakin's injuries (and a false promise of fully healing them) to lure him to the darkside. I have no idea what you were visualizing in scenario 2, so I can't really comment. In scenario 3, I think it's possible that Palpatine drops him as a prospective apprentice due to the new limitations on his power. However, this rejection coupled with Padme's unconditional love toward him, draws him fully into the light. Once Anakin realizes the extent of Palpatine's evil, he sacrifices his life to destroy the Sithlord and fulfill the prophesy. The Jedi and The Republic are not destroyed.
