@rogerwagner69406 жыл бұрын
Unless you have extensive training, you probably aren't going to be able to help much, if at all. In most cases you can easily and likely make things worse, particularly if you are in shock and not thinking clearly. If someone needs help the best option to "help" is to call the professionals as quickly as possible, and their first priority will be to keep you occupied on the phone and out of the way. That you are scared when people are careful is an irrational response and quite reckless. Immediately running out of your car without thinking is probably one of the most stupid things you can do in situations like most of the ones in the compilation.
@@rogerwagner6940 is right. Unless the person is bleeding/the car is on fire/the person needs CPR straight away, you won't be able to do anything anyway. Your number one priority is keeping everyone safe. The Danger part of DRABC is huge when you're in the middle of a busy street.

What’s the likelihood that they’re all on their phones texting and oblivious to what’s going on around them?
@thetimekeeper9556 жыл бұрын
The answers to two questions (and their follow-ups) can explain most of it for you: 1.) Are you [driver of car that doesn't stop to help] able to dedicate your full time and attention to assisting others, so that everyone can focus on being safe while helping those directly involved in the collision? For example, are you alone and not in a hurry to get somewhere, and/or not with adults/children who have special needs, are very young, might be extremely upset to see blood and possibly corpses, or have been traumatized by a previous vehicular incident they were involved in? Have _you_ been traumatized by a previous vehicular incident of any sort, or are you hematophobic or the like? 2.) How many people are already stopping to assist? If there are several, do you have any special skills or equipment-such as medical knowledge, super strength, or a knife for cutting seat belts-that justify your presence, or would you largely just get in the way of them and other road users despite your desire to be useful? How fast and well can you process a situation and make decisions, or at least take orders and be a cooperative set of hands? If you stopped, would the situation be such that you would be blocking the road and possibly contributing indirectly to chain-reaction collisions farther back? A driver who only just got done with physical therapy and has gotten back on the road after a severe collision but who's still trying to mentally process the injury/death of a loved one might choose to keep driving to avoid the memories, and I see no issue with that. A hematophobe who stops to help might end up vomiting everywhere and would inadvertently draw attention from the people who need it, so they actually help by just driving on carefully. Someone with a young child who's easily frightened may choose to drive on because the sight of a bloody human face will give the child nightmares. Someone who's very anxious in stressful situations may become indecisive and paralyzed when faced with an emergency, meaning their presence does more harm than good. Obviously, if no one else is stopping or can stop (i.e., a remote location), then even a person who would be negatively affected by a collision scene in some way should at least call for help and do whatever else can reasonably be done to assist. But for the remaining (and majority of) situations, speed and safety are key. People need to be able to focus 100% on a situation where the lives and health of others are in danger; if they can't for some reason, they increase the existing danger level. To avoid that, they should keep driving. Scorning people who can't stop, without knowing why they aren't stopping, is setting up these situations to be even more confusing, distressing, and possibly harmful.

Upon seeing on the National news that two teens were involved in a head on collision that killed two people in a holiday van, and one of the teens, really disturbs me. I’m not saying that it was the teens fault for the accident, they may have been trying to avoid a roo, or it could’ve been entirely the other people’s fault. We won’t know until the Police investigation is done. The fact of the matter is that three people lost their lives in one incident. I have driven 1000’s of kms across QLD and the NT., (along with many others). I have driven that mileage in my car. In my time on the road, the biggest thing about staying alive is PATIENCE. Yes the caravaners can be annoying because they don’t keep up to the speed limit, and yes the semi-trailers, road-trains block your sight on the road. But it is better to be at your destination later, then not at all. And as for respect for the semi-trailer truck drivers on a highway, stay behind them about 100 metres. As for a road-train, stay behind them at least 300-500 metres, so they can see you in their side-mirrors. Never, ever attempt to overtake a truck unless you have an overtaking lane. Remember that the truck driver can see what is in front. You can’t. And remember that a truck driver on the highway (when he gets up to speed), will sit on 100kph. Keep in mind that, that if the driver has to brake suddenly, he or she has several tonnes of freight in the trailers behind them, and that could be catastrophic. Be patient with caravaners. Whether we like them or hate them, they are here to stay. To be honest, it is very annoying when a caravaner sits on 80kph when they are in a 100kph zone, and you can’t pass them. That all comes down to patience. Sit back, listen to some tunes, bight your tongue, and just wait for an opportunity to pass them safely. For all of you kids with green P plates who are becoming an Open license driver. A driver’s license is not a gift. A driver’s license is a major responsibility. Why? Because you are now responsible to be safe on the roads along with others including your family and friends. Keep that in mind.

Sadly, many of these smashes are caused by panicked over correction. The proliferation of large 4 WD’s has also meant the number of untrained and ill prepared drivers has increased also. Something to take away from this - when you are correcting the car in a slide.... be careful how fast and aggressively you correct... try and take it easy.. or you turn a slide into a roll. Also - try not to drive a truck :)

Anyone who wants to get their licence should be shown this video first to show how dangerous the roads can be. Just watching this is bloody nerve racking 😮

The crash at 2:07 has me stumped. There is no missed exit, or anything on the road, but the bloke in the Mini Convertible crash stops in the overtaking lane of a freeway? Do Mini's have AEB? I wonder if the car detected an obstacle that wasn't there? Like the sign perhaps?

From all observations in this video and the previous ones published over the years - a CB Radio Antenna mounted on the front the vehicle - visible from the drivers viewpoint - seems to protect you from collisions. I know that can't be true - but it does seem funny how they always seem to miraculously escape unscathed.

You can always tell the Aussie dashcam footage (apart from the side of the road) but the Liberal use of swearing. Bless ya lads.
