If you didn’t fire the employee(s) responsible you’re not truly sorry
@sailingsolar
@sailingsolar 3 жыл бұрын
Oh they are sorry, the scam went bad. That employee is not sorry, he still has his job.. Why should he be sorry? The dealer won't fire him because he was doing his job up selling the service. The mechanic is a money maker for the dealer. Why fire him? He was doing what the dealer wants him to do. In this case turning an oil change into a $500 service bill.

The majority of successful business owners doesn’t want a dishonest and vengeful employee working for them. If they’ll steal from the customer they’ll steal from the business. If they have no respect for the customer they’ll also have no respect for your business.

Sailingsolar is right. The guy got mad in the recording because the scam didn't work. He was following orders.
@sailingsolar

@@TheRudedaddy Yep! And I'd bet his pay is likely a percentage on what he brings in (bills out). Most people have no clue how dealers work or how other scams work and it is a waste of time explaining it because there will always be people who don't know and they will get scammed. The last time I went to a dealer about 6 months ago I had to get a chipped key made for $150. While waiting I marveled at my surrounding and how much customer money it cost to create it. I understood why it cost $150 to have them make a simple key. I later found that a lock smith could make that key for $65. Less than half. Best wishes, people.

@@jphickory522 I'd like to address (question) two finer points related to your reply. 1) You said the "majority of successful business,,," So your not saying "ALL" businesses and this one might not be like "most",,, correct?? 2) Would you also say we have no way to know how this dealership operates at all and whether it operates like "the majority of successful businesses" or if it would keep an employee that is "dishonest in nature" IF it was of sufficient monetary value to the business in the future? I feel we should never assume how any business operates based on how we believe other businesses do. Certainly not beyond any direct knowledge relevant to this case at hand. What we seemingly do know about how THIS business operates is they in fact chose to not fire this employee for trying to increase the customers' bill for doing work not requested or previously authorized and when called out on it retaliated against the customer wasting at least an hour of his time more than he already did. What did the dealership do?? They said they hand words with said employee. Well, "Whoopidy do da"! Cheers.

Video shows the real side of people in every profession, job and situation. This era of video footage capturing people behaving badly is great. Just think...this guy got caught, how many other people have been screwed over at this dealership as well as many others. A reason why doing all the basic work (oil, fluid changes, brakes, battery exchanges) yourself is a good idea.

Little inside info I got from a service advisor that was there at the time he was. Basically the customer approved the battery, then was unhappy about how much it was and said he didn’t want it after the work had been done. As frustrating it was, he made the wrong move making the customer wait. When my advisors have a bad customer we get them out asap.

Had that happen to me a few years ago where I was sent a letter to bring it in for a recall when I brought it in I got the vehicle with a check engine light on and the recall part was not even installed cause they said they didn’t have the part... I then had to take it back and before I did I had my mechanic check everything and the vehicle was fine until I took it back for the recall which then again it was returned to me with a check engine light on again. They were trying to rob me for a sensor which I purchased and put on myself for $25 and they were trying to rob me for $475+ thanks to them I do my own work. Thieves!!!

He is only apologizing that they called the customer names and held the car up for an hour.... what about all the unauthorized work they performed? And all he did was counsel the employees??? They should be fired if that is their attitude...obviously there are enough employees at this dealership with this attitude that if he were to fire every one who acted like this he wouldn't have a service department, so he had to "counsel" them instead.

@@domusdebellum3042 I've never worked at a dealership that will intentionally change a part on a car and try to get the customer to pay for it. Almost always the service writer is sloppy and misunderstands the customers request or the customer misunderstands the cost and then realize they can't afford it. Sometimes customers are deliberately deceptive and try to scam the dealership. I even had a woman come in and drop off a car for repair. Then the husband came in to pick it up. He refused to pay anything because his wife wasn't on the title. And he was correct. He was a lawyer and knew how to work the system. When you've been around a dealership as long as I have you seen it all.

Accidentally did the work? Yet the dealership didn’t charge him.. now this becomes an internal deal.. management will ask why parts are being internally paid for..by who? Sales, parts, service? Now who’s going to pay the techs? They don’t work for free.. This dude probably authorized it, saw zeros in his bank account and called trying to decline the work while it was already completed. His feelings are hurt. End of story.

They probably made the poor tech undo all the work he was told to do and not pay him a dime is more than likely the case. I work in a service industry also and I can say “buyers and liars.” Why do you think signatures are so important? If that customer tried to pull the same stunt at a doctors office….
