WOW! This chair caught my eye because I have that exact same chair. A lovely elderly gentleman who was a Holocaust survivor gifted it to me shortly before his death. I keep it to remember him by, but it isn't structurally sound and I can't use it. Now I know how to fix it! Thank you so very much for posting this video. I really like your calm voice, good filming angles and lighting supporting the deceptively simple step-by-step process. Your demonstration has inspired me! What is Remembered, Lives. What is Restored, Lasts.

I love your channel...My parents had this chair for 50 years and all 6 were like new after 6 kids. They called them Danish modern in solid teak. Even had the same black naugahyde seat originally. Watching this made me cry. They are both gone but my nephew now cares for them and the table they came with. What a joy seeing it look amazing!

You are right about made by Lane. I have the exact same chair, purchased in 1962 and still have it at age 79. It's still in perfect shape. No scratches or any loose joints. I loaned the accompanying desk to nephew who destroyed it by standing on its top. I will never sell as it is the first piece of good furniture I bought. Love your show.

I love your videos. They are informative, relaxing and tranquillising. The background sounds remind me of a summer vacation when I was 12 where I restored a lounger (under my grandfathers instructions) in the village where he lived. The laughter in the background, the occasional car driving by and the chirping birds. Your videos reminds me of good, basic values and the joy of repairing something and be happy with the result.

I have a round table with four chairs, UK made by McIntosh. The chairs fit into the table saving space. Originally I owned an oval table and chairs in 1969, bought when I married, still in use today, still in immaculate condition. There is also a square table with chairs fitting beneath, regrettably, living in Northern Ireland, I was never able to get Sellers to agree to delivery. The round one was bought to save space and had been owned from mid 60's by the same family. Thankfully, their son was more than helpful in it being shipped to me. The shipping cost more than my table and chairs, considering its quality, I couldn't have afforded to buy anything to equal it. The round table is brilliant as it takes up much less space in my small living area. It still has the original dralon seat covering which I keep meaning to recover. Unlike your chair, mine are still in perfect condition as is the table

I had also found a chair in my street last year. It was completely apart, but all the parts were still in pretty good condition. I found a brand name and after some research on the internet it turned out to be a design from 1964 [also my year of birth!]. However, this was a copy. Unfortunately. It appeared to be a brand from much later a year. I tried to restore it and glue it back together, but because I had no clamps I had to do it with rope. The end result was satisfactory, but after using the chair for a while, some glued spots loosen again. Probably because I had no clamps to do it properly. It's been sitting in the corner of the room for a year now. I'm going to fix it soon. I promissed it to myself. It's a nice chair.

When removing a flush plug, I always drill a centered hole slightly larger than my screwdriver, then removing the screw lifts out the plug without damaging the hole. It works great and I've never needed putty. I can't imagining trying to exactly center a drill bit the size of the hole and not expecting to drill into the leg.

I've learnt a lot from your channel and restored several old furniture I had on my garage. It felt great and now they're looking good in my room. Thank you. (The hardest part was re-aplying veneer son some parts that had completely lost it. That type of veneer that comes preglued , which you apply with a hot iron didn't work. Contact cement neither, don't know why. I had to glue it with Titebond... After the 4th atempt it worked.)

My family had a set of these dining room chairs when I was a small boy. The design is compelling, but from what I am reading in these comments from others who know the same chairs, structural issues appear to be common with these. In fact, One of the chairs suddenly collapsed under the weight of my Uncle Page while he was sitting in it back in the very early 1970s. Although Uncle Page was a huge bear like man, the sudden collapse of the chair was enough to scare my family into taking these out of general use as dining room furniture. I think they may have been demoted to use by us children, given our small size and light weight. They were gone by the mid to late 1970’s. I still like that design though. Very Danish modern...

Thank you for your well done video. You did a perfect job of every step. It's heartwarming to see the care you take with the little touch up brush with the gel stain; I can really appreciate your patience and labour of love. (Curious, why not just gel stain the plug too?) PS - I also like that particular gel stain, but I find that it's impossible to get a proper seal on the can once it's been opened and it goes dry on me between use.

I had the entire set -- chairs and table -- until 2014 when I gouged the table top and out of uncertainty of how to fix it I put it out for the trash. I rehomed the chairs to a woman looking for them on Marketplace in Mpls. My dad had this as our dining set from the '80s until 2014 when I saved it from the dumpster. At least the chairs lived on...*sigh*.
