Really really impressed with how well that arrow shaft stood up to such abuse, and how much damage its still doing when it did explode. I was somewhat expecting with how CF tends to break so brittle when it does go that the shot that broke the arrow would look rather unimpressive (edit: well unimpressive on the target) as most of the energy of the hit goes into throwing bits of arrow shaft everywhere but it actually held together rather well still.

Theres a German guy called Jörg sprave who invented the ADDER, and other multi shot crossbows, i say invented only by design, i believe a Japanese guy also made a multi shot crossbow a few centuries ago. And Jörg had to design a arrow sproof vest, as some would stop a 9mm but not a high powered crossbow. Its fascinating to me the science that actually goes into body armor in the modern age. And i so agree with the comments about the NPCs youve added in your videos, they literally now have a life of their own. I.E i dont see them as you dressed up in a different outfit, they all have very different personalities, sense of humure, and preferred weaponary. This sent me down a history of bullet proof vests rabbit hole . It was interesting to see that as guns got better (14th-17th century), plate armour got worse. Thicker and lower quality steel was used to prevent musket penetration until they couldn't make it any thicker, and the muskets just kept getting stronger and used in larger numbers, making plate altogether ineffective by the 18th century. I couldn't find much on armour after that, aside from some groups wearing outdated steel cuirasses while others used very thick iron plates which were more or less impractical in combat. It's not until the 1960s non-metallic body armour makes an appearance, from what I looked at anyways. This would mean there's about a 350 year gap where people had no real armour. I guess even these days we have nothing close to the protection late medieval armour and renaissance plate armor provided. Even with several layers of ceramic, fibre, and plate, getting shot with a large calibre is going to really, really hurt. Never mind if some maniac in tight jeans shoots you with an arrow while playing Eye of the Tiger on his stereo.

Considering how well it appears relatively thin and soft metal in cars holds up to bullets (at least sometimes) I'd have to say you are right on what the medieval armour would do (well at least the plate stuff), might even take bigger rounds than that at least some of the time with the thickness and curvature. Now how riveted mail would handle a bullet is a really interesting one - as that would be worn on top of a gabmeson so any of the slower or more fragmentary by design bullets might just create lots of shrapnel that is largely caught by the fabric beneath, or the gaps in the rings could let through everything rather too effortlessly... The wooden shield as well is probably going to hold up pretty well to the relatively small arms. But in all of these cases I rather doubt it is going to be that effective, even if it shows some interesting results.

Ummm... I don't know what "grains" are, when it comes to units of measurement. I wonder if Edidash (the Dash who does the editing. I'm assuming that's how some of the other avatars refer to him) might be moved to start including measurements that make sense to non-'muricans?
