seems top be the other way round on many videos, many Xbox players seem to think they are superior because they have the same game yet paid far less. not realising they don't quite have the same experience as PC users. I think it's great there are more flight simmers out there, but everyone just needs to get along.

My husband and I took turns playing around in the easy mode on the World Map with 4 or 5 different planes. We flew from Orlando to Tampa, flew over all the major theme parks, then our house North of Tampa and landed at MacDill AFB. We noticed the satellite images are older because we could still see the big oak tree that was once outside of our house that we cut down about 5-6 years ago. We explored San Vito dei Normanni (Italy) where my husband grew up; Shiner, TX where he went to high school; Kyoto, Japan where I lived and worked and even took the main menu tour around Giza. Then we challenged ourselves a bit by flying from Seoul to Pyongyang at night, just to see the contrast in how big and bright the lights are in South Korea vs. a nearly-dark North Korea. After I get through some basic flight training, my goals are to fly along the TransSiberian Railroad and the old Silk Road paths.

That is often the case, especially if you don’t live near a major metropolitan area- BUT, the streets and roads should be fairly accurate, even if your exact property isn’t.

I'm going to say this again and again and again. You don't NEED a flight stick, or a HOTAS, or a home cockpit to be a flight simmer. If you fly the plane with an Xbox controller, you're a flight simmer and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Your guide really helped a lot. The sensivity of ls x and ls y should be at least - 75% to get an A in flight school in the horizon maneuvre using an Xbox controller - otherwise it is way to lively. I have loved your two XBOX tutorials. I would have been lost without them. I need help setting up flying from one airport to another. Is there a way to set a flight plan for this? For instance, I want to fly from Heathrow to Gatwick. Will the sim assist with this? I honestly had to "google" directions. Please bear in mind, I'm not only new to MSFS but also Xbox as well. 3:25 this is not entirely true, for Assisted Controller Sensitivity. This is a new setting that simply dampens the inputs of the tiny joypads on your controller, so the planes arent as twitchy. Basically a faster way to set up your controls without having to go into the Sensitivity curves. Its not an "assist" or taking away control, it simply makes an xbox controller behave more like a joystick, in that each 0 to 100% input you make will be slightly delayed.

Great video for beginners! I’m a hardcore simmer, high end pc with P3D setup - however been considering X Box for this sim. Mainly for my son as he’s a console type! 😂 But if I’m honest would like this for just pleasure flying - what are other airports like? Brilliant tutorial - very clear instructions and just the right pace. Did my first ever take off following your instructions. Took off from Santos Dumont (Rio) and had a good close up look at Christ the Redeemer. Then, for a laugh, I tried to land (again first time) back at Santos Dumont. Approach wasn’t too bad but overshot the runway and landed in the sea, but just turned the plane around and came back onto the runway! Sully would have been proud! Then the plane somehow taxied itself back and parked - what a hoot! Obviously lots to learn. Great fun - thanks.

In real life, Santos Dumont is a very hard airport. Too short runway for the aircraft that lands there.

Amazing video so far (half way through). I fear the minute I see a Series X available to buy I’m just gonna do it. I need this. I have dreamt of this since I was a kid. (I know PC flight sims have existed but I could never afford a decent one and this is so much better than they ever were way back when). As a huge PlayStation guy with a PS5 this game was always going to get me on board with Xbox, and as it actually comes to fruition that has absolutely proven true. What a game. Looks incredible. Immersion to the max. Looking forward to seeing them develop this further, and carry on into future generations. Gimme this in VR in future Microsoft!

You could always build yourself a small form factor pc which is smaller than an xbox series x with far more power but with that being said, pc parts, like the xbox's, are hard to find and expensive atm. Prices should start to come down within the next year or so. Just hold out and make your choice then as the game at some point will be on sale and in much better form by then as they constantly update it. See you in the sky's someday.

Yes. When I played this first on PC, I used both a controller and the mouse/keyboard for better control.

Brand new to MSFX, never had a PC that could run it so it’s a delight having it on a console. This tutorial has really helped me get over my initial overwhelm - in particular the advice on setting the assistance options so you get the feedback of flight control while still keeping things easy.

I tried flying through New York and the graphics were absolutely terrible. Couldn't even make out a building. I'm playing on a series x 4k 120 hz TV as well so I'm not sure what the issue could be

Hi very helpful video just remember that a lot of people who have game pass will have the standard edition which will have less planes ✈️ than in the early access edition which you showed so it might have been helpful just to mentioned that but having said that you explained everything else very well and helpful so I will be watching many more video’s 👍

I love your channel! I have a question for you, I just started msfs on my Xbox. In the training and on the Cessna 152 or 172 when I use rudder instead of deflecting and returning to center it acts more like trim. If I give left rudder it deflects and stays in that position. Curious if you or anyone else has dealt with this. I have reset my Xbox and started msfs again with the same result.

I certainly tried with your settings and though enjoyable flying round Christ the redeemer I tried an important near my home but the high cross winds made it nearly impossible to take of and fly, I will keep trying them though

It's early days for me, but I can't wait to get into this sim. Already purchased a wheel stand and suitable attachment for all three honeycomb flight controls when they come out(hopefully in Autumn) I want to experience this as a full blown flight sim with all the bells and whistles and flight controls. Trouble is......can't get a series X for love or money(without paying scummy scalper prices!!) but I will be patient. Great video Squirrel. I am having real problems adjusting trim for stable flight! Plane always seems to lose altitude when let go of the stick. So I look down and slowly adjust trim down while watching Altitude gauge. The next thing I know, my plane is flapping around and I’m facing the ground

Use the dpad for trim adjustment. Trim wheel spin backwards to go nose up forward for nose down. Trim effect changes with airspeed. You should be able to trim it to fly level with no input on the stick. Get to a set speed and adjust the trim a little at a time until you dont need to touch the stick to stay level.

I did this initial fight myself tonight and really enjoyed it but one thing I don’t get is the HUD when I’m the external view. I have my settings exactly the same as shown in this tutorial but all I get is the plane on screen and not the displays as we see in the video. Very difficult to fly like that which is a shame because I enjoy the greater views you have from this camera. Anyone else have this problem?

Squirrel’s video was a year ago, so it doesn’t exactly match the more current MSFS settings. Someone else explained: “One note, the option for the HUD in chase mode has now moved into the User Experience section in the Assistance options. So don't set them all to off as it says in this video, set the HUD option to on.”. So go into USER EXPERIENCE under ASSISTANCE OPTIONS instead to do the HUD adjustment. Hope that helps.

Hello Squirrel, I wanted to learn to play MSFS for a long time and I finally got an opportunity to learn it, and I must say, these videos are life savers. I wanted to confirm my understanding about what you said at the 15 minutes of this video, that the left stick usually controls the plane, and the right stick controls the camera. However, in my case, the camera movers around when I handle the left stick, and the Yoke moves when I move the right stick. Is it correct? How can I change this to other-way-around as per your video? This is very important and I am finding this very annoying. Thank-you again!

Just got mine 1 hour ago the Xbox x was out of stock for the past 2 months ,I picked it up with Flight Simulator and went home , I don’t want any other game …my journey flying an airplane started back in 2010 when I was running away from airport as much as I was scared flying 😁 not any more though as I challenged my situation by learning everything related to flying .. and I felt in love … I was almost ready to spend $7000 and more to start playing this game ,i feel so lucky when my son informed me about it ..I have already subscribed to your channel , I’m willing to watch your videos as I’m sure I will benefit from it . I see all these people that have fs2020 on their PC all excited for it on the xbox, why is this? isnt it just the same game, but on a console with seemingly less Modularity? im very confused, what am I missing?

I have to say I've been waiting for mfs to co.e to xbox for ages just bought the series x for that reason I've been watching your tutorials for a year and enjoy all your content. Great as always. I've bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS One( official Xbox flight stick and throttle) for this so will you be doing tutorials about that as I've never used a HOTAS before

Great video, it was interesting to see how the Xbox performs. One general question regarding the throttle and the HUD display. When the triangle is fully clockwise the rpm indicator shows 2400 ish. If the triangle at set to 0, the rpm is 774, if the triangle is set to 8, the rpm is 1800. Seems to me that it would be more logical if the pointer is set to a number, the rpm would go to that speed. It wouldn’t have to exactly the same as that is unimportant, and I’m ignoring the effect mixture control has.
