Yeah it's not as much a game as it is an experience. It simulates flying anywhere on the planet with live weather, air traffic and that's really cool. MSFS has always been in a league of it's own and it'll impress anyone. I showed my dad the town he was born in and flew around the area and neighboring towns. His mind was blown and he hates video games, thinks they're a waste of time. He even flew the plane for a bit on a HOTAS setup. It's definitely not a game for everyone but those that are into it pour thousands of dollars to build the ultimate pc and install peripherals and multiple screens. It's a fantastic simulator. The fact that it's running on console and looks and performs the way it does is truly a showcase for the Series X. I always go back to this game periodically, fly and have a relaxing experience. One cool thing to do is to check out the multiple POI's. The Japan update was fantastic and they've added so much to this game since it came out.

Lately a lot of people have been exaggerating the hardware requirements to run this game. MSFS is a heavy game to render, but it's not THAT heavy. It's ridiculous to think a PC with the same raw-specs as the Series X would just run this game at 1080p Medium/High settings at 30fps. And people liking the comments responded to me, reporting an RTX 3090 running the game at 1080p20fps, are clowns 🤡.

@@TheGoncas2 as someone with a 3080 and an i9 10900k I could drop frequently into the 20s and sometimes lower before the latest patch. It was just poorly optimised on the pc which is why it has a bad reputation for being demanding. It is a lot better now though with latest update

After all in games its very hard to scales CPU dependent aspects of the game without ruining what the game is intended to be. It is alot easier to scales resolution and turn down graphics as needed. Microsoft made the right call with the series s.

This is not at all what was meant by it back then though. It's like naming the "Guess Your Location" games the best (and first) examples of "power of the cloud". While the the cloud aspect of "Crackdown" (which was what PS referred to) was meant for calculations and sync of the resulting deformation of the level. Something Flight Simulator does not even have, for obvious reasons. The equivalent here would be if it was multiplayer and the clouds looked the same to everyone, through the cloud. And it could then of course also have been used to make the game run at 60 FPS instead of 30.

@@BrianM78 no, Flight Sim actually put a lot of computation job on Azure Cloud Servers. 80% of the ground objects are AI generated on Azure servers, than steam to local pc/ consoles.

@@cvzone yes for sure, although I find 40fps in R+C less useful because it was already hitting 60fps. But the more options the better imo. The 40/120 is even more useful in games which often run under 60fps or games with very variable frame rates like this one. VRR is really ideal for regular 60+ frame rates. Look at A Plague Tale, another Asobo game with fairly variable frame rates. Here, an unlocked VRR mode worked perfectly because over 60fps, frame time differences become much harder to see. FPS doesn't scale linearly remember. The gap between 60-120fps is only 8.3ms which is the same as 40-60fps. Then you also have stutter caused by the insane LOD and draw distance in this game. probably should have turned it down on XSX. No amount of VRR is going to fix those stutters. For now I'll stick with the VRR mode, I'm sure Asobo will continue to optimize the game. It truly is a technological masterpiece but it's not easy to run by any means.

To be honest I was really underwhelmed when I upgraded to 4k. I felt like I was about to experience something truly amazing but nope, just a slightly crisper picture. The difference is only really noticeable when you go back to 1080p on someone else's TV or whatever, and all of a sudden that now looks blurry. Kind of like when you get used to 60fps and go back to a 30fps game

This really is such an impressive title, I was always bummed I couldn’t try flight sim before as I didn’t have a powerful enough pc, just trying it on the series x was amazing, this is not a game for everyone however as it’s a simulator, there’s no coins to collect or people to save etc no story, but just chilling cruising about the sky’s breathing in the awesome scenery is such an experience. The tech that goes into to streaming the data etc is just mind blowing I really take my hat off to asobo and ms here easily the best looking game on any console

Using an index (90hz) off a strix 3090 and i9-9900k actually getting closer to 60-90fps depending on where I'm flying (lowest settings). I'm also using a G7 and get anywhere between 50-120fps on pancake (ultra settings).

I'm actually impressed with how well it runs on a Series S. The controls are a different matter, but still, I've had a blast so far. Tho to my surprise, it was not marked as an "Xbox play anywhere" title. But still did appear on my MS PC store for download after I bought the Xbox version.

Weird. I can confirm it's included in Gamepass PC. I'm downloading it right now through Gamepass PC. The MS Store had been acting weird for me recently though. For about 2 weeks recently I couldn't see the reviews "tab" on any app in the MS Store but could in the Xbox app for the games in there. I'm kinda disappointed they capped it at 30fps. My laptop with a massive cpu bottleneck and a relatively weak GPU (with only 1 stick of RAM) still runs the game at ~30fps at 1080p med/high. Im always saddened by MS games's optimizations because I feel like they never take full advantage of the hardware. I mean, the unlocked mode showed that there is enough power to spare... There is probably a RAM bottleneck on the Series S but that's not really that important on a console like this. I feel like 1440 30 and 1080 60 could've been done with further optimizations. I mean the series x runs at 1440p, I know it looks great (even my mediocre laptop looks decent) but that is pretty underwhelming. I mean a 2080 can average about 30fps at NATIVE 4k on high settings...

@@xerogue I'm impressed, Series S doesn't have that much in the gpu and ram department, I'm not suprised at all it's 1080p 30. Even lower end mobile gpus like the 3050ti are almost double the tflops of the S and you'd be getting about 40 fps with high settings at 1080p there. So yea, medium settings 1080p 30 fps sounds about right on the S. I'm more surprised it's not 900p upscaled. Also whatever your point is about your laptop, I have zero frame of reference as you did not include a single measurable spec about it. Even the "one stick of ram" how much ram? 4gb? 8gb? 16?? How does your laptop have a cpu bottleneck? What on earth is this configuration you're running??

And don't forget PC rigs were struggling way more with this game earlier on, the only reason they perform better now is BECAUSE they did so much optimization for the Series X and S. Extremely impressed by the port of Flight Simulator on X BOX SERIES X but even more impressed by the Series S Honnestly! This little console is amazing and still surprise me over and over again! Microsoft Flight Simulator is my personal first true Next Gen experience on next Gen consoles ! I mean R&C is a good Next Gen game but not even close on the Flight Simulator 's level tbh. The French Studio 🇫🇷ASOBO🇫🇷 did an excellent job with Flight Simulator, this is insane! I can' t wait to play on the second Plage Tale game made by ASOBO! Thank you very much for all ASOBO's devs and their phenomenal job! A tons of talent from ASOBO. Peace ✌️

That long loading only happens the 1st time you play, after that it's still there but doesn't take 2 min to load usually a min or less, in game loads to the different cities on the globe happens in seconds. Impressive is an understatement being able to take off from your hometown airport and recognize not only landmarks but house's, gas stations, hospitals etc is mind blowing!

Besides its a goregous game and fun to play; I also find it very soothing when I work on my laptop or read while Im inflight. And ajust when I need to adjust and than go back to what Im doing. Asobo and Xbox really deliverd (playing it on Series X and on a 120 hertz with VRR tv)), its simply stunning. I also like (mods) market and find them to be priced fair as well and Im looking forward for more mods being added. I really want that KLM plane we saw in the E3 trailer and F-18's. The music is beautiful, which alslo has that typical "sad emotion" good travel music often has, making you miss your loved one(s who live abroad/country; making you instantly wanting to get on a plane. Perhaps I perceived it wrong but to my feeling it didnt took 2 minutes to start up.

This is why i will always love console's. Games like this can be perfectly fined tuned to the console to get a great gaming experience like this since all consoles are the same. PC tho have a range from $500 to $10k so u can't fine tune a game for every PC not to mention PC's have to do other stuff in the background that keeps it from utilizing all it's power solely to play games like a console. @@Longlostpuss I doubt it. It's pretty common knowledge that consoles doesn't show off its full potential until its late lifecycle. Add it to the fact that the devs behind this game was not able to utilize velocity architecture at its best.

@@goldensperm7182 That's not true at all. The best looking games come out early in the cycle in the debut line ups and then the quality slowly tails off. Towards the end, they try to develop the really high quality stuff, but end up having to cut back on visuals and performance dramatically. You'll get better CGI cut scenes, but not better in game visuals. The devs start turning the default gamma up and the brightness down so the shadow detail is crushed and you can't see the low res texture maps. The resolution also starts to suffer. That's why they're constantly doing remasters of previous gen games when the new machine comes out - it's almost as if the developers were burning to do the games the justice they couldn't on the previous machines. Just look at Cyberpunk as the only evidence you'll need of consoles being out of their depth when you claim they should be at their peak. Technically, Cyberpunk is an 8th gen game, but look at the state of it on the 8th gen consoles. I have it on PC and the consoles aren't anywhere near it, not even the same part of the solar system let alone planet.

Tlou2, GoW, Spiderman, Rdr 2, Death Stranding, Doom Eternal, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 and many more.... Please don't ever, I mean ever provide Cyberpunk as an example.

The TAA they're using must be really good, you can barely even notice it while in motion. There's a bit of pop in in some instances, but it's actually quite challenging to notice it while casually flying around, taking in the sights so it's all good.

Nice stuff DF. Flight Simulator I have been waiting for and I am so glad it's on Game Pass. I only have the Series S but I am impressed at how smoothly it Runs, I would take the Graphical Hit for Smoother Frames but I wonder if the Series X should have a 1080p Upscaling too 1440p Mode, just too see if if can Smooth out the Frame Rate issues and the Series S can have that same Graphics Mode aswell, just too tank the Frame Rate lol.

the magic of this game is it gives you real ideas of places. i remember a flight to tokyo and its..... insanely dense and packed, then to saudi arbaia, literally a desert kingdom.... i know that sounds like the most obvious thing to say, but doing it in a plane is so much fun.

Oh FFS I could scream. 🤣 For months I have asked for DLSS support to be added to the PC version for my RTX 2060 gaming laptop a sin Saint Denis performance while still ok, it suffers a bit. They just happen to drop the patch the same week I get a Series X and gamepass ultimate. I will be back playing RdR2 next Julember. 🤦‍♂️ Still there are definitely worse problems to have.

Wat een mooie game is dit. Het geeft zoveel rust om deze game te spelen. Het is eens iets volledig anders dan welke game dan ook. Ik ben al over mijn eigen huis gevlogen, in de game heeft mijn huis opeens een puntdak, terwijl ik toch echt een plat dak heb, maar de straten en de opbouw van de wijk waar ik woon is wel goed weergegeven. Je kunt letterlijk overal ter wereld vliegen, dat is leuk. Sommige plaatsen zijn extra gedetailleerd. De game loopt als een zonnetje op mijn XSX (met extra 1TB SSD). Een echte aanrader.

This is the power of temperal injection. The devs were able to save 720p worth of resolution and refocus that extra power into the visuals to match near ultra settings. Would not be possible if the devs focused on native 4k. No excuse for every single developer in the industry to not use temperal injection.

Another great analysis video of a great looking game, but does anybody else wish devs would drop the res slightly on Series X to allow a flat line 30fps (or 60fps), where applicable? There seems to be numerous games recently where the Series S holds a flat frame rate due to the devs going lower with the res, whereas the same game on Series X, with higher res, isn't holding a stable 30 (or 60). I'm not sure what people's preferences are, but I would defo prefer this game to run at, for example, 1296P on the Series X and hold a flat 30, than 1440P and have fairly significant drops in some places...

Not tried the Series X version yet but it does look very impressive on the Series S. There are some quite noticeable pop in/pop out/pop in (very much noticeable in Cairo) and my home city of London seriously lacked in detail compared to New York. However, it really is a graphical showcase for the Series S so really looking forward to the Series X version 👍
