And now the prize question: Everyone on the Enterprise knows that both Picard and Data are on the enemy ship. Two people. Geordi, Data and everyone else know this. And how many emergency transport units does Data get? Yes, exactly one. Although you can even see in the film that there would have been room for a second one in his forearm. Have they all stopped counting? All just to prepare for Data's heroic death. Dramatic, but totally unnecessary.

@@TheSighphiguy That's interesting; because, to me, with its action and darkness, it was actually something of a breath-of-fresh-air in the franchise. [for the record, I despise 'Nu Trek'] And, I remember reading in one of the "Shatner Verse" novels that the 'Scimitar' was the prototype of a class of ships that the Rom.s had designed specifically for use in the Gamma Quadrant, against the Dominion. The t-radiation weapon was for making quick-work of Dominion-held worlds there. [I suppose they figured that the legal repercussions from using it in the G. Quad. would be considerably lesser than those for use of it in the A. Quad.]

I know it's basically how all the star trek films work and I get it they were trying to escape and get to the federation. But why not fly off in a random direction? Assuming they got out of range of the Scimitar's sensors, dropped to impulse, and pick another random but not the way they came direction would they not be able to escape easier? Maybe do that a few times just to be sure? I mean in the shows they always took hours to figure out the direction of a warp trajectory (later on I guess it became easier to a degree) so by choosing a not direct path I feel like they would have had a better chance to get back in time to warn SF. But then again..... no movie if Shinzon died because he was too slow at getting Picard or to Earth.
