I liked this little short. I know its a bit on the nose with its metaphor, but I think it works. The society in the short cannot have romantic connections without people becoming damaged, so they take a suppressant. Some people can't take the loneliness in the safety and risk everything for human connection. Its pretty telling how valuable it is when he doesn't seem to regret what he lost.

He's not alone: he has a loving animal companion. The human-animal connection is seen as a second-rate substitute, but animals don't let you down or disappoint you the way humans do. There's none of the ambivalence present in even the happiest relationship. They can't talk, but that's not always a negative--they communicate in other ways. Appreciate that cat.
@obseed30414 жыл бұрын
Yeah but sooner or later we will all crave another person's companionships. We will eventually want to have meaningful relationship with a person that can understand our feelings. But if dating is this risky, well yeah I understand just sticking with cats and dogs too lmao.
@kjell1594 жыл бұрын
You actually believe a pet gives a damn about you? A dog is just a predatory pack animal, stray packs of dogs in India attack their 'fellow' humans on a daily basis. Thousands of biting incidents reported, even more remain unreported, single owners who die in their house get eaten face up by their dog etc. I can keep going on. A dog might seem to care a bit about their owner, why?, because you provide it with food. It sees you as it's pack leader, nothing more. 'Trained dogs' are trained with food, nothing special about it. According to studies pigs are about 3 times as smart as dogs, which definitely doesn't come as a surprise. The behavior of a dog is all but intelligent. It's purely based on instincts. That's why they pee in the same spots as other dogs, eat feces grabbed out of the litter box of cats, bark incessantly at nothing or things they see on a daily basis, attack their owners (pack leaders) themselves, attack children that are playing on the street, ... Bring up the oxytocin myth all you want, that 1 single neurotransmitter, keep on mind oxytocin gets released when firing a gun as well... Only humans can be people. I'm vegan and even I don't buy into this pet crap. I see these beings for what they are. Pets do more harm then good. And if it stays with rabbits, goldfish, guppies, parakeets, parrots, turtles or something, ok. But the harm dogs, and even cats, cause to innocent humans & the environment (dog ownership is responsible for a fourth as much greenhouse gas emissions as all traffic worldwide combined, also numerous species die because of dogs, especially the situation in South America is staggering to think about) is unagreeable. That is, if you life in reality at least. Not an Omeleto based fantasy world where an inbred grey wolf or a feline is 'man's best friend'. The cortex regions of our brains are so complexly adapted, not even other great apes come close enough. There is no animal on Earth that can replace a human being. We need our own kind. Maybe some people are the exception but I'm almost certain +95% of all human beings need other human beings at some times in their existence, in order to be able to be healthy.

You don't know what is life and what is living if you thing that relationship defines it. To some extent you are correct, because human animals are divided into male and female but it is not everything, be-all, end-all. Some people like solitude. Some can have relationship and still feel lonely or empty inside. Anyway, life is crap, be it poor or rich. But rich at least can afford to live life on easy mode and they die like everyone else.

@@303machine A life lived alone is not a life. We are defined and enriched by the relationships we have with each other and the world around us. That's just how it is. You can like solitude, sure. @@steamywalnut6300 - Sorry for the language but I would have said more but KZbin keeps banning me from saying too much. Not about swear words, but because I live in the States and 'share' too much against CNN and Democrats. Democrats own Google, who owns KZbin, so they don't like that. *Anyway....

14:54 The best scene because it shows everyone's in it together... even the 'superior' wants to gain the experience of the person under her wing. Great film, well done! :)

The moral of the story is that they don't want you to be in a relationship because there a chance you'll become hurt and never be able to recover from it
