Your reactions to the little details are so genuine that I'm able to immerse myself into thinking this is a fresh new experience for you and us viewers. I also noticed in the past the same was true with your 999 etc playthroughs with Kimmy, you never give off an air of knowing what's coming or being bored about the things you've seen before. The moment I saw this next part of the video released I made myself a cup of coffee and am now smushed into all my pillows and blankets watching this on my rainy Saturday morning. The reason why I loved Gab so much in the beginning was because she played older point and click games, some of which were a large part of my childhood because we could never afford any gaming systems so this brings back a nostalgic joy that I really just need sometimes. Even if it's a game I haven't played, this calm and cozy style of gameplay just sets my mind at ease and I really appreciate it.

I'm glad you're playing this game! It's so cool and something I never would have heard of otherwise. It's also interesting to see how the pacing works on an older game - the mysterious vibe you allude to hasn't kicked in yet in 3 hours of gameplay, and there have been several non-obvious ways to proceed. Really shows how gaming styles have evolved!! Especially as you note these used to be 'blockbusters' - love the name dropping you're giving us for the voice actors! a great series!

I don't mean to be uncouth but in that short glimpse of John's steam games I couldn't help but notice a few very interesting recently played titles. I hope some of them might show up in future recordings, or possibly a Spine Chill episode, but I'll keep my expectations tempered.

I've never heard of this game before you started playing it and I'm loving this play through. I adore point and click adventure games, but I find this one so much more charming than the Cat Lady series. Gabriel is utterly sleezy, but it's almost completely forgivable just to hear Tim Curry absolutely eat up the role. Even in other games where things might be considered "exposition dumps" the fact that everything is voice acted and performed makes it a joy to listen to. Besides this, the story is compelling and the art is beautiful. Your playthroughs of games are always my favorite because while you inject so much personality into it, you're not overwhelming or annoying in your commentary and play in a really even-keeling way that doesn't make the video frustrating or weird. I can't wait for the next upload!

Ever since John said in the first part that Gabriel Knight is voices by Tim Curry, I've been trying to hear it, but I just cant 😅 I love Tom Curry and have watched several movies with him (and watched those movies several times) but I just cant hear Tim Curry in this voice acting. But I guess thats what makes/made him such a great voice actor, he was able to change his voice so much and really embody the character he was playing ❤

It's annoying that you feel the need to roll your eyes and scold Gabriel every single time he addresses women a certain way. This isn't your first playthrough so you are familiar with his character already, as you made sure to thoroughly warn your viewers about it at the beginning of this playthrough. It is what it is, you can't do anything about it and besides, it is a good source of humor as women keep roasting him. It's very funny imo. People are so sensitive these days.

Women roasting something doesn't make it automatically ok. Gabriel's behavior is still problematic and deserves to get called out. If he gets roasted in the process, that's just another plus. Also, his lines were problematic back in the 90s too, but it was an era where women just weren't as vocal about the issues. If you think people are suddenly "sensitive" about this kind of stuff, it means you just didn't have enough women open up about their feelings about this stuff to you when you were younger.

He will keep doing it because he's programmed that way. And it's fine to have flawed characters in a videogame. It's not like he's going out of his way to force anything on anybody or touch them. He keeps doing these stupid oneliners and it backfires everytime. If anything, it shows it's not a good idea. I don't think people are suddenly sensitive. Evidently there were games that crossed the line and were called out and removed from the market, rightfully so. But I doubt they cared a whole lot about something like this. I want to see proof for the opposite. Both you and I only have opinions on how they felt about it, but we can't speak in their names.
