I know it's in good nature but I think that joking about stalkerish behaviour normalizes it. I once was in a convo with my colleagues from uni and they were making jokes about hegemonic masculinity by joking about beating your wife/girlfiend and I did feel a bit uncomfortable but I didn't know I could say something about it until my female colleague (whom I always respected greatly) said that it's not ok. That it's not funny. And I do agree. I'm not holding it against you, it's not anyone's fault that society puts those ideas out there but I just hoped that i could show you a different perspective, the way my female colleague showed it to me

Advices like "wear red if you want to increase someone's attraction to you", to me, feels the same as "shave your body hair if you want to increase your performance in cycling or swimming", at the end of the day it does make a difference, but it's such a small one that it will only be significant at a high level competition, and since we shouldn't be treating dating as a competition, wearing red does not make any difference
@saraashkir57934 жыл бұрын
For real! And the way they test them is having people who have every other factor be the same or similar, and seeing if red will make a difference. Like of course but now have someone be awkward and the other be confident, then put the awkward person in red. No difference

You really break down faking it vs being real and working on yourself. The most important thing is being authentic. Thx for pointing that out.
@bbspooks4 жыл бұрын
Mirroring body image is so fake. Just be yourself! React in a genuine way, you never need to pretend to be someone you aren't. Trying new things because YOU were always interested but never had courage to do it is fine. As long as it's for YOU and not specifically to impress others! I can't stress it enough. You won't genuinely click with someone long term by faking a persona. You won't be genuinely happy with yourself. A great media representation of this very oddly via a horror tv show from SciFi is Channel Zero the Dead End House season. One character faces his mirror idealized self. It's eye opening. I'm thinking Daniel Isn't Real also broaches this topic. It's on Shudder. I can't confirm bc I haven't watched it yet but It seems to carry the same concept of being your authentic self vs an idealized self that has been influenced by what it considered stereotypically "cool" and has been wrongfully normalized towards specific genders. I.e. The idea of masculinity. The stereotype and misbelief women only like bad boys etc.

Some colour theory for yall: Red is a warm colour, it's eye catching and it holds your focus. Someone wearing red will hold your focus more than someone not wearing red, however this response is momentary. It passes in less than a second and long term it won't have any effect. Interestingly, this is a technique that many artists use. Next time you look at an art piece, look at the layout of the colours and see where your eyes fall first.

I mean... BUT, with that being said... I do see your point... Couple years back, I thought I was suffering from depression, saw a video of theirs about depression, and thought, "Yup! That's me!" At the time, I did go and get professional help, and turns out I was actually depressed. So, in a way, I'm thankful for Pshych2Go. They at least steered me in right direction to getting better help :) Though with all that being said, the whole channel is a big clickbaity mess. Theres romance and romcom movies that really harm the dating scene by fictionalizing and idealizing something that is virtually unrealistic. It seems horror is opening up more to breaking this mold and calling attention to the flaws in this and accepting your genuine self to find ones that you will genuinely end up long term with. I think things like Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and 1000 Days of Summer are red nance movies that highlight issues of media romanticized dating. Esp days of summer where Zoey portrays this mans manic pixie dream when in reality he is only seeing what he wants and not her, he is romanticizing an idealized version of her into a toxic relationship. When you soul gaze you're basically walking through the garden of their mind. When you connect with them you feel one another watering each others' flowers. They bloom, the vegetables sprout, the bees buzz, the birds chirp, the sun shines.. And all of your senses feel stimulated simply from those moments spent looking into the spectales of someone else you love.

Psychology is so hard to break down as when dealing with people, there will always be "the exception". Blanket statements do not translate well when dealing with the subject. That said, there are tests you can do to find "objective truths" about yourself. You can test for "majority answers" and usually those results can be replicated within a percent or 2. After watching many dating advice videos by many different people, I have found out several things. 1) I have extreme low self esteem. I wish I didn't, but I do. Does that mean I am thinking about ending it? No. those tendencies NEVER enter my mind, I still love life. Just don't think highly of myself. 2) At my age it seems like the dating pool is very sparse. The question when ask what I notice about women first when they walk in the room, I usually say "The left hand". Is there a ring? 3) I have found dating sites and apps useless. Not only do I rarely get matches, of the few times it does happen, it seems no one responds. From my perspective, some girls seem to have the problem of getting too many matches and never having any of them pan out, ugly guys like me get a match then a message saying "come to my website and we can chat per minute".

19:46 A lot of the psychology studies aren't necessarily "proofs", which is why you're needing to make this point. The video is passing them off as being factual. Psych is very highly based around correlation and theories, not solid facts.

‘do i really have to explain all of this stuff?’ *is his literal job* 🤣 also, i feel like i totally get where you’re coming from and came into this out of pure curiosity - but you definitely misrepresented one of their points about dominance & submission only to use it later yourself, which it kind of looked like you noticed in the video haha! of course, it sounds stodgy when approached from a purely scientific standpoint but these things have reached an almost global consensus for a reason, and a lot of the stuff you guys know colloquially came from the initial scientific and psychological consensuses reached first with which, you guys are able to adapt to actual usability in practice! tl;dr, the science does often hold weight for the most part. it’s just that it needs clarification, colloquilisation and adapting to be able to be used tangibly by the everyday person/dater. that’s all! i feel like dating coaches are basically the interpersonal science translators of our time-but we only see a handful that are actually good & that are considerate of each individual temperament, as opposed to general advice translated from even more general scientific consensus despite vast variability. science is the raw ore, it’s up to coaches and therapists to create their brand of jewellery!

At one stage I was going through a breakup and searched on KZbin for these kinds of videos... what irritated me eventually were ALL videos were from cheeky guys claiming they are experts on giving women advice how to treat a guy. ALL the advice were so one-sided, as if women were crazy and men have the right to play games and test you. Then you check the comments and you see how it made women MORE anxious and doubting themselves and taking "vows" never to date again... Women are basically not allowed to be just themselves, you are basically told you must be afraid to lose a guy. Go check, all these videos from guys are exactly the same as if they copied it from somewhere. I felt so bad eventually about myself and blamed myself for past broken relationships just because these videos told me I was not good enough and will never be...

As an ADHD/autistic person who struggles with eye contact and focusing on looking at someone directly when we're talking - I've found that my peripheral vision for noticing micro expressions has got really good, to the point that I can detect what someone's feeling, or any change in what they're feeling when I'm sat next to them and not looking at their face directly at all 😂. Or even when I can't really see someone, I can often sense their mood if I know them well. If its someone I'm close with, I get goosebumps if they're experiencing a negative emotion, and feel a kinda smooth, calmness with positive emotions (but not laughter, that's different 🤣). I do think people need to be more open and accepting regarding "eye contact" and looking directly at someone when you're talking, because I guarantee if it looks like I'm looking right at you and paying attention... I'm not 😂. That's just now how it works for me, I find it way easier to follow and be engaged in a conversation if I'm either looking off to the side or moving my gaze around the environment. I think being autistic makes it overwhelming to look directly at someone for an extended period of time, and being adhd makes it difficult to stay focused on looking at someone AND listening to what they have to say at the same time. I do personally mention this in conversations where it could seem like I'm not engaging, so the other person hopefully understands, but not everyone is confident and comfortable enough to do this! I feel like neurodivergent people have to spend most of their time trying to fit neurotypical standards, and it would be nice if people would understand why things are different for us, and meet us halfway.

Eye contact is important, especially when across the room. However, the person needs to learn how to glance/ look NOT STARE. I also think it would be a good idea to provide an example of across the room and conversational. I'm a STARER when in conversation since I'm a lip reader bc I can't hear well but it doesn't come across as crazy, too intense. I think a combination of what both you said is a great idea. However, again I think a visual example of this would be best so that people know how to make great eye contact that isn't creepy and also isn't examining the persons body language so they can try to read that

I really love your advice on paying attention to the person of interest. Actually caring about that person can never be faked, especially if the individual is focused on what they are doing to influence their interest rather than actually listening and caring about their interest. The real difference between wanting to be with a specific person and actually caring about them will go far in how long and fulfilling the relationship is.

Be your best self! Don't fake interest or knowledge in something. Ask about things that you don't know about if your interested in something they know. Don't just quickly blow them off if not interested. State why you don't like it them gently steer the conversation into something you know. Share your interests and knowledge when someone shows they wanna know about it. Don't force your views. Dating is about happiness with yourself and the other person and while sometimes it may be something new and slight uncomfortable it's not about being fake and forcing something that's totally outside your wheelhouse

The problem isn't necessarily the advice itself. The issue is that, while these are presented as psychological tactics for flirting, there is little instruction on use of the tactic itself to help the viewer understand that using said tactic requires some thought and, occasionally, practice. Tbh, it feels intellectually dishonest for him to have bashed the video, albeit very lightly, without mentioning this fact, especially in light of the fact that he admits to not knowing if some things that are stated are true. As someone who studies psychology, it seems to me like he's just saying the same things in a more long-winded fashion while putting up a bit of a straw-man. The whole "eye contact" spiel is literally him just describing using body language while in a conversation. Instead of saying "soulgazing," try just saying "read their body language." And of course just staring into a person's eyes non-stop is creepy. This is that "intellectual honesty" bit I was talking about. He said he doesn't know, therefore he is not qualified to say they are wrong. He also does not remotely acknowledge the fact that he's putting his own spin on their words in order to make them seem absurd. Not once do they say "stare into their eyes and never stop." They simply state that it is a scientific fact that eye contact (literal eye contact. not body language) can have an effect on attraction and suggest it GENERALLY. HE is a "dating expert." Of course they aren't going to be giving specific tips on how to get a date. THEY are a psychological self-help channel, ffs. His own advice may be good, but criticizing something by creating your own narrative is, for lack of a better term, again, intellectually dishonest. My curiosity was piqued when I saw that he didn't act like the douchey pick-up artists, but he's being very dishonest his representation of these people. Everything they said has some scientific backing, and they're simply sharing. Just because something is statistically proven does not mean it is the answer to a dating formula. This man is being incredibly dishonest by presenting this information to you as if Psych2Go is telling you that it will 100% get you a date. Psych2Go is simply sharing facts you may find interesting, and that's it. This video is clickbait that worked on everyone here, myself included. If he were to be honest and not use this as clickbait, he wouldn't be calling it crappy advice and would instead be saying that he's expanding on the topic for people that need it. As an addendum, I find it disgusting when they present a POSSIBLE explanation for one of the findings and he treats it, again, as if they think it's fact. They are sharing science tidbits and adding their own opinions at the end, man. Calm the fuck down, and understand that not a single thing in science is ever taken as 100% fact, not even gravity, which I'm sure you know. You can't claim to be superior when you charge people 1k a month for your coaching and are just a psychologist without a degree. You obviously have a very good grasp on the knowledge of psychology and manipulation. I'm even willing to say that you aren't a relationship/behavioral therapist because the title of "dating expert" gets you more money. Better 1k a month from one desperate, rich guy than having to do weekly sessions for multiple people with more than just confidence issues to get the same amount, right? Depending on the therapist, you can book one for as low at $35 per session. With one session per week, that's roughly $150 a month. Go to a therapist that studies behavioral psychology for about a tenth of the price instead of hiring this guy.

Hey Anthony! I don't know if the comment section would be the right place for this but I'm in a phase of total confusion and doubt. There's this one girl that I've been best friends with for atleast 3 to 4 years. And we get along pretty well. We've had moments where we would have a sort of "cry session" where we both console each other and give advice to one another bringing each other up. We always try to support and if no such "support" is needed, we still try and communicate with each other and hang out alot. So, Last year, she confessed to me at our village (we live in the same village lol) telling me that she really liked me and all and decided to hide that feeling because she was so scared of making things awkward. She knew that I was with another girl at that time but was so tired of hiding what she really felt about me. I proved it to her that it wouldn't be awkward and spent more time with her. Nothing changed and we would still have such a great time with each other. The "confession event" was brought 2 weeks later on accident in a conversation and so we decided and agreed upon each other that we wouldn't start a romantic relationship. Reason being that we fear of loosing each other. In present time, I decided to go to her house regularly (with social distancing of course) and we would talk alot about what's been going on through our lives. She's been with another guy which she's been dating only this 2020. I knew of it and actually helped him with his shyness and confess to her and all that "wingman" stuff. My question is this, Why do I suddenly feel attracted to her years later by just remembering our times together and such? Why do I feel sadness all of a sudden remembering that she has a relationship with another guy currently? I mean as I mentioned I helped the guy ALOT and became the messenger of these two people. I remember being so excited and happy knowing that they got together, But why now? Why do I feel a certain hint of sadness? Why of all times I suddenly became attracted to her even though I knew that she's with another guy? I support them alot but I still feel sad inside. And should I still confess to her? Right now or maybe when she's single again? Even if we agreed to not enter a romantic relationship a year ago? Thanks, and keep up the great content Anthony! I apologize if the story and or my question is a bit messy😅

I love that Anthony is always talking about concepts that work to be the best that you can be and it really clears up the mist behind these clickbait videos. I think most clickbait get at these concepts indirectly but our focus should not be on doing things like mirroring, pitch changing our voice, etc. but instead to focus on being our best selves and things like that will come along which I never thought about. I also love that Anthony gives guidance to achieve this life style quality. Amazing work and I'll make sure to pass along your teachings if people talk about this clickbait stuff!
