How do you get a hidden track w/o a CD? If somebody does it on vinyl, 'nuff respect 'cuz it would be expensive, but hardly hidden if you can see the grooves?
@in.der.welt.sein. Жыл бұрын
I've noticed a lot of the super cheap EV mics get overlooked rather often, like the nd267, bk-15, and nd767, and they're also surprisingly great. The older pl mics are pretty cool too, like the pl80.

The pzm-180 mic is incredible for drums. I'd highly recommend trying that out at some point.

A serious hidden gem that Dave has at Rancho there is a pair of Milab DC-196's. They weren't mentioned here and they're very obscure, but I threw them top/bottom of snare on a singer/songwriter record out there and they were fantastic. Possibly my new favorite snare mic.

@mannysmiclocker it's awesome man. Ditto the "show us your junk" episode you guys mentioned as well. I've seen most of that earthquake series, and before ya'll mentioned it I knew I had recognized you from somewhere - so that's cool and congrats that you're doing your own show now. So far so good and look forward to the next one. :-)

I found an old Realistic Highball 2 at a thrift store years ago for $20 and it's amazing. They were designed I think for harmonica, but sound so good on snare drums! The only drawback is the built-on cable with 1/4" jack 🤣
@johnnyresin Жыл бұрын
Just remembered I actually used it on a Queens drum cover video I did years ago for "First It Giveth". The spot I had it kind of caught the snare, rack tom, and hats all at the same time. I also used a super cheap plastic karaoke mic I got brand new for a think $3 on the floor tom, and a converted Fender Rumble bass combo as a sub mic on the kick. I feel like y'all might appreciate that 🤣

I’ll have to find one now! Thanks for sharing J 🎉

@@mannysmiclocker no problem, and thank YOU for this amazing episode, along with all of the others of course 💚 The Highball 2 reminds me a lot of a 57, with just a little more grit. I also forgot to mention that the body is a little small so it doesn't fit every mic clip. It fits my Shure clips just fine, but I have a couple of cheaper ones it slides right out of 😂
