Dave Grohl: **breathes** Interviewer: So let's talk about Kurt Cobain

Let's face it. In every interview that he will ever do, Nirvana and Kurt Cobain will most likely be mentioned. Nirvana was one of the biggest and best rock bands of all time. They made history with the grunge movement and Kurt's tragic death at the height of their fame will never be forgotten. Dave knows this. It comes with the territory. After the 20th anniversary of Nevermind, the 30th anniversary of In Utero, plus the 2014 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dave is more open to answering about Nirvana now.

Same. Nirvana is my favourite band, but I don’t really like the Foo Fighters. I don’t hate them, though. Without Kurt’s death, I doubt the Foo Fighters would have been as successful, but who knows?Kurt was the sole musical genius behind Nirvana.

The Foo's first two albums are good. But to me Foo Fighters is really Dave Grohl with a band, just like The Cure was really just Robert Smith who has a band. I don't think Dave is as much a stand up guy as he was long ago ... just another multimillionaire now.

I dont understand why theres so many hate comments. To be fair, Dave did the right thing. He tried to be there for Taylor coz he learned already what it feels like to lose a friend, a band member to a heroin addiction. Frankly, this is just him to not want the same thing happen over again and then having to go through another dark period. Gosh, imagine that! As a kid who grew up in the 80’s and hated the music nirvana was a colossal shock because it was exactly what I had been looking for. Those 4 years (1990-94) were my college years and I cherish them because of bands like this.
@ajbeard2444
@ajbeard2444 2 жыл бұрын
I had the exact same experience. As a music lover, it was an extremely tortuous period before Nirvana and the others came along. In fact, I got heavily into The Beatles during the late 80s because hair metal was so annoying and meaningless to me. “Grunge” was so fresh and melodic- like a shot in the arm. I love the Seattle grunge bands and will always fondly associate them with my college days.

I could never shake him talking about Kurts death and saying how he felt like he gets to wake up everyday and Kurt doesn't and how it effects him then all of a sudden he was saying "like after awhile.... like I just lied. why would I tell you how I really feel about something so personal? you're a journalist and this is going on the radio. You aren't entitled to know my real feelings" I mean I'm sure he is really upset to at least some extent about someone he knew passing away... particularly how he did, but I feel like there is so much more to it that he would never ever ever say where we all would hear it based off that statement. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but idk, maybe its partly bc it would make him look bad to say what he really thought about the guy or the way he died or maybe it's anger or idk what exactly, but I can't help but wonder unfiltered what his thoughts really are

Uncanny, considering the gun had no fingerprints from Kurt, and had a different pen colour and type on the four paragraphs, take in to account that she also had a piece of paper in her possession practicing his exact note. To ignore evidence like this makes you delusional.

This is why almost everyone only makes one or two great records early in their career. Fame & touring do foster creativity. It’s also why those who are able to continue making great music, are often completely sheltered from the madness (Eminem for instance).

I’ve always believed she killed him or had it done. I lived in Washington and had taken a boat cruise with family and friends when you could see a peek of the house/ greenhouse from the boat. It was haunting.
