@@acidoblivion Yeah it is about Layne. He was the heart of the band; every latter formation and cover simply pales in comparison. This is coming from a guy who likes Jerry's solo work and knows he wrote most of material; however, Layne simply took the band the next level with his raw talent and writing contributions. I agree with you. Layne has such an unique style, his vibratos were so good, his range and drive too. If you listen to the early AIC demos it's clear that his producers helped Layne to develop his singing style a lot, a great example is the demo of Bleed the freak.

For being a man of such small stature physically speaking, Layne had an incredibly powerful voice. Corey's only mistake here is he's going for (feeeeeeeed) on the chorus instead of (faaaaaaaayyyyyd) which gives it more power and oumph, the way that Layne used to do, and the way William is doing it, if you watch other videos of this song by Layne or William, you'll know what i'm talking about .

That's due to his vocal range. Some singers tend to change certain vowels to keep themseleves in the right pitch. Something like Faayeedd will take more efforts than feeed if one doesnt have the right vocal range. But I sure do agree the fact that Faayed sounds a lot better and that Corey did a great job.

Whats with all of these AiC covers coming out lately? Saw this and the Mastodon cover - just wondering. Love AiC but I'm not the best at keeping up with rock news lately.
