these are half truths at best. There was never a debate (or a secret) in Israel if Netanyahu aided Hamas to retain power to weaken the PLO. But Dave Smith paints it like the intention was to fund terror. Hamas is the de facto government in Gaza, the whole idea was to slowly build up and strengthen Gaza economy slowly in order to make it not worth it for Hamas to risk dissident in its rule due to people having something to lose. This was also said specifically by Hamas leaders after Oct. 7 when they bragged how they fooled him to think that. Dave Smith is using half truths with small lies to push a narrative.

I feel like there's an awkwardness around this in general, cause it's not a matter of relatively silly, easy stuff like masks or no masks, vaccinations etc., but by taking a clear stance, you're affectively calling the other side defenders (knowing or unknowingly) of genocidal actions. Although mostly unrelated, this issue gets mingled in with culture war stuff as well (the 'woke' stundents and so on, arguments of that sort) - it's clear that people on the right (whose talking points are usually echoed on JRE, although in a more empthatic, libertarian manner) are generally more sympathetic to Israel and could feel alienated. I agree with 98% of everything he said in this video except for the last part when he said, "We have a president that doesn't agree with Isreal and they still get everything they want." Biden does support Bibi Netanyahu and what he is doing because Biden bypassed congress to send billions more to Israel from the pentagon surplus, and has done nothing to stop sending billions more of US tax dollars to Israel.
