The weirdest thing about this subject which has always messed with my head, is that the very people who don't want definitions and labels placed upon them, are the ones who create definitions and labels for themselves and then impose them on everyone else to follow. And then, when those people don't follow those definitions and labels, the ones who have imposed them upon others get vehemently upset about it. I don't understand what that is. Does anyone? I mean really?
@chrisgould1013 жыл бұрын
Kinda. I'll tell you about how I see that. I was a pretty troubled kid, was adopted into a pharmaceutical family wit a narcissist adoptive mother. Because I was different as a child, they saw this as a problem to 'fix' . Because it wasn't in line with their standards then then starts drugging me on many psychotropics to 'control' me. This is how society sees true critical thinking people. They're terrified. These people break down everything they though they knew. The discomfort then sets in. They then need to use labels to think that they understand what they can't understand. The labels are to justify to themselves 'what' this unknown entity is to them. In the case of these sjw identity politic types, it leans much more I believe toward an inward narcissism and sense of entitlement. The labels they make seem to be consistent with a misunderstanding or failure to understand, and a heightened individual need to... vilify and justify the ends of their thoughts, which have been much influenced by the propaganda bombardment of identity politics. We're basically seeing a war of minds. And it's exposing the bad in people also which is good to identify them.

The BIGGEST problem we have here is a narcissism problem which I believe was triggered by and is being catapulted by social media and greed. People feel so invisible and so insecure that they are jumping on any bandwagon to have a voice and feel like they are a part of something important. People need likes and shares like they need air. We are an incredibly insecure society that screams “we don’t need your validation” while simultaneously demanding everyones’ validation. We used to seek validation from people we cared about and people close to us. Now we seek validation from everyone and are hurt and offended when we dont get it. Its a mess.

I think shifting the focus on sex, gender and sexual orientation completely diverts the focus away from poverty, which is almost never represented in popular culture or politics any more. @theashennamedjerry32032 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the trans issue is a gender issue not a sex issue. So you can be male but act like a woman and that would qualify you as a woman but not a female.
@davewade302 жыл бұрын
@@theashennamedjerry3203 No. That would qualify you as a TRANS woman. Male & Female, Girl & Boy, Woman and Man. These terms were well defined and easily understood for hundreds of years until about 15 minutes ago when people decided that pretending to be something is the same as being that thing. Kindergarteners know the difference. You have to go to liberal arts college to "learn" that sex and gender are unrelated. Which is of course utter nonsense. If people want to pretend to be the opposite sex because it "feels right" to them. I don't judge. Whatever makes you happy, have at it. I'll even call you whatever you want. But I won't lie to myself or anyone else by saying a trans woman is a real woman. Because the truth is what it is. The more lies they can get you to tell, the easier you become to manipulate. Literally no one was phased. She used the girls bathroom and since there was only one stall anyway, no one cared. That was 1991. In 2007 I was teaching in Phoenix and.. same thing. Again, no one was phased. Then all of a sudden in 2016 we were about to have all these new regulations where, for example, we weren’t allowed to use the students’ first names for the first two weeks - in case they happened to transition during the first two weeks and might get offended if we used the wrong name. Whaaaaa??? Whyyyy?? The transgender students I ever met don’t generally get offended. I think it was top down govt regulation.

@Ra Shaan the key well-documented gender-defined personality traits of men and women are higher neuroticism and an interest in people over things. Of course there's more differences documented in our behaviour, which moreso tend to be context-specifc, but generally speaking, yeah - a lot of 'genders' are just labels of certain personality types. personality types are nothing new either, and the entire field of gender literature is very controversial as research requires approval before publication, so rallying trans activists inhibit the publication of research against the findings they agree with, which is pretty tyrannical.
@shahtayyib2 жыл бұрын
@Ra Shaan moreover, the separation of gender and sex serves no real societal contribution. if gender is truly this entirely social construct, with no true ties to biology (although the LGBT community flips on this whenever they deem appropriate) then it's purpose has to be questioned. if it simply serves to further divide people and limit them, outlining what contributions they should and should not make, it's nothing short of discriminatory and segregating. the newly defined concept of gender promoting ideas of a 'spectrum' is utterly useless. all this would suggest is that we are each individually different to any extent: an idea which psychological literature already evidenced across several decades. tying gender into it seems to only serve the purpose of creating more labels for people to further divide themselves, and the socioethical implications of this can be pretty damning, considering how well it aligns with an early stage of a divide and conquer strategy.

The problem is within five minutes the guest has badly misrepresented what happened with Rebecca Watson, which is an indication of the pathetic nature of these two in general. A guy follows her out of a bar onto an elevator to get her alone, making her feel very uncomfortable very late in the evening after she'd been drinking. She makes a video stating as much which is impossible to fathom as a bid deal and then we went through years of harassment and hate aimed at her., with to this day, idiots like this fool in the video blaming her for an incident which no one would remember had a bunch of trash atheist trolls not blown it up and harassed her for years. That behavior destroyed the scene, as few women would take the risk of the that level of harassment for simply stating a guy made her feel uncomfortable by following her out of a bar to get her alone late in the evening. And why would somebody like me hang around to spend time with that sort of trash? I guess it's easy when you're prevarications and outright falsities aren't called out to have a "rational" conversation among two people who already agree with each other. My undergrad is biology. I also felt this complete conflation between gender and sex - even by some biology professors. It was astonishing. It’s like gender is fluid and is felt, ok fine. But why the SEX change then??? And they are insisting on being called their gender. But humans don’t see gender, they see sex because that is the biological reality. And one more thing, besides intersex being very rare, individuals almost always predominately present as closest to one sex or the other. Unfortunately, a burden of these conditions is infertility in most cases! It’s not really a sex - it is Intersex.. like the definition. They are trying to disregard definitions exactly because they have adopted postmodernism to the extreme, as the video pointed out. Doesn’t change the reality of the world.

I remember everything Colin Wright is talking about. I saw the rise and fall of the Atheist and sceptic community on KZbin back then. This whole thing is really surreal to me. I'm trans and knew I was before I even heard about the idea of "trans" as people know it now; it's just the best description I can find. I grew up in the 90s and for me it had nothing to do with all this anarcho-communist post-modern woke crazy stuff. When we were all talking about it in early KZbin, the people who were the "weird tran****", we had a very STRICT difference in our perception and definition of sex and gender. I'll put forth this idea on how that changed: I think it was lost when a new generation of kids came about and into the world where people were talking about trans issues on KZbin. I think that they heard the terms "sex" and "gender" being used and they didn't make any difference between the definition of the two as we used to do. I think it's literally because they were young. Three things I really wish the "trans community" (if there even is one) pushed harder on are: 1) These things are not reversible! (activists started lying and saying that transition was "fully reversible") 2) We should've pushed hard against when the distinction between sex and gender started happening. 3) It's not like "just a choice" as anything else is. People started calling us "Truscum", (us who said that it was all about dealing with gender-dysphoria and that people shouldn't transition unless they really had to and there was no other way for them and they wanted to basically de-alive their person.) - We should've really pushed harder against that. I think one of the main reasons we didn't push harder against those three things is because we started to grow up, and life started to get busy... we didn't have time to sit around on the internet all day, but the "new kids" did, so they took lead over us. Literally, none of this was about ideology for us at all. These kids seem to be in some sort of crazy trend and I feel so sorry for them. They will literally GIVE themselves gender-dysphoria and it's hell.

I'd like to politely disagree with your comment saying "It's no surprise that the ones who were born in economically better situations don't know what the real world is like growing up. Protected from everything and anything" I don't think it's fair to say that people of my generation don't know what the real world is like, I'd actually argue that we know a lot more about the real world than any generation before us, mostly due to the internet being around when we grew up and the debt crisis's that we are burdened with atm, However, I'd just say that I 'personally' think a lot of these problems might have come from the rampant "helicopter parenting" that we were exposed to, I'd say the way you teach people when their very young can severely effect them when they become adults and THE LACK to certain stimuli has probably done a lot of this. You can grow up in a perfect world but still be strong, I've seen it, people in their twenties juggling work, social and family life with insane debt and low pay but still soldiering on, being people. I'd argue that every generation had a problem like this, it's just different now because we use different methods.

It all stems from people being obsessed with attention from their social media addiction. People will cry and make themselves a victim to get more attention even if makes themselves look like a fool. The sad part of it really is that it's accepted and actually pushed in society to not have a back bone so that people are easily controllable.

The SJW movement started long before elevator-gate. It goes right back to the 90's, even mainstream media started pushing it in the 90's. It started with the feminist movement, then was adapted for LGBT then most recently African Americans. They all use similar themes and methods, and they are now a power bloc under the Democrats. It started when the democrats sold out the working class, they needed something to stay relevant, a platform, and social justice was born. They realized early on that accusing others of sexism/racism was very effective at shutting people up and destroying opponents. This is why social justice has become so extreme and radical today.

@vinnieriley72273 жыл бұрын
Calling something a slippery slope fallacy is just an easy way to avoid legitimate arguments.
@DisI3oss3 жыл бұрын
Well I'm not using it as an argument, more of an illustration. My argument would be that not all love is equal nor valid, therefore should not be equally protected. For example, the love a parent exudes towards their child is not the same a boyfriend or girlfriend would give. Similarly, someone may love all dogs but the love for their own dog is different. Lastly, one could love to inflict pain on themselves or others, doesn't mean it should then be permissible.
@scartissuefilms3 жыл бұрын
Slippery slope is a logical fallacy in that just because one thing happens doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean that the next thing will happen. However in real life and in political issues there are groups with agendas who are looking to push things in an extreme direction and it's part of their process to start small and gradually mission creep outwards. So, it's a logical fallacy, but it's also exactly what happens in real world social situations.
@BB-yh5rd2 жыл бұрын
Went to law school with some people that held a variety of positions on issues. Legalize marijuana, gay rights, white supremacy, list goes on. The problem with activists is they tend to base every aspect of their life on that little tiny issue that most people spend a small fraction of their time thinking or worrying about. To an activist, every conversation has to center on that one thing and really just want an argument to prove that you're racist or whatever. Even changing the subject offends them so deeply that every one in your family tree is part of the problem and somehow evil. It's not good enough to never do anything racist, or sexist, or homophobic, or say yeah I respect your opinion, you have to match their level of passion on a subject. I'll take climate change for example. I'm a bit of an environmentalist, I love to scuba and during my lifetime I have been to a reef or a place when I was far younger and second time sometimes decades later gone back to the same place and have seen noticeable and significant decline. I find that sad and disturbing, something must be going on. But turns out overfishing has messed up the food chain so badly that it trickles down to coral reefs, etc. Sure carbon emissions play a part but it's fractional compared to fishing practices in my opinion. However, you have to so badly hate human produced pollution that you are willing to endure wars, genocide, bankrupt people who can't afford an electric car or put gas in their tank to meet their expectation. Anything lower than that you are not just stupid but the absolute enemy.
@1thank2you3 Жыл бұрын
I could totally understand the situation. I had a similar experience, I was abroad, staying in an apartment(airbnb), and as I was waiting for the elevator, this guy who looked around mid-40ish to early 50 started a conversation saying that he is separated from his wife and moved to this apartment. He asked me if I wanted to come over. No hello, or proper introduction, or small talk at all. I was 26 at the time. Even though we weren't in the elevator, it was more than enough to get scared and, to be honest, creeped out. I smiled and politely declined. The elevator came and he asked me why I wasn't getting on, and I acted like I got a phone call and told him I was gonna take the next one. The guy in the video says the man didn't do anything and was polite, but I don't think he fully understand how scary the situation could turn out. To be pursued in small tight, isolated place? I highly discourage anyone to do that.

@msi83112 жыл бұрын
Most of the gay and lesbian people I know do not want LGBTQ to include the T. I can see that because being trans isn’t about sexuality, it’s about gender. For example, GiGi Gorgeous I thought was a MTF without bottom surgery, so biological male but gendered as female. GiGi’s long time partner is a butch lesbian looking heiress, biological female but gendered somewhat ambiguous to male. So they’re bio man and woman but their genders are switched. Maybe this makes no sense but it’s interesting - point is, are you gay if you are a biological male who falls in love with a biological female?

Americans have really lost their minds. In the 30 years I’ve lived in the US I’ve witnessed this fascinating phenomenon of people getting so entrenched in their beliefs that they completely lose touch with reality. It’s quite entertaining but in a very disturbing way.

Its not fascinating, its not entertaining, its horrifying. Its intellectual barbarism. Those cops down in Atlanta got charged with murder by the far left DA for doing their job exactly as they'd been trained. Other far left DAs have dismissed charges on violent criminals on purely partisan political grounds. The FBIs being blatantly used as political police for the democrat party. Decent, clear thinking people should be horrified by all this and quietly planning things to do about it.

The demand that you must conform to someone else's constantly changing identity to remain an accepted member of society is a child's game. It reminds me of three year olds who are infamous for demanding to control the big people in their lives or suffer montrous tantrums. Then it evolved into a competition where the only way the participants can gain any attention (going viral) is to find some new person, word, obscure historical fact, photo to get offended over. Carried to the extreme, they get offended by things people MIGHT say or do. Next comes the inevitable mob jumping on an unending list of new offense sthat must be obliterated. Pursued to its inevitable end they will find a gray, angry world that is void of the diversity they tout so loudly.
