Ahh, yes, "the book of opinions." My favorite was when the C.O. (or whatever they're referred to as now) had a MAJOR problem with the fact that a lot of us here in Southern California had passes to Disneyland. This was the early 2000s when season passes were shockingly affordable---like, $100 for the whole year--and groups of us would go often. INCLUDING after Sunday meeting. And he just hated it "You make time for Mickey and Minnie," he literally said from the platform, "but what about your God Jehovah?"

This reminds me that time when my Father (an elder back then AND NOW) was accused by a young sister of giving her "tight hugs" everytime he greet her. These TIGHT HUGS were actually him being "touchy" with her AND I NEVER REALISED IT until I was a bit older, and he started doing the same garbage with me: Tight and uncomfortable hugs, weird looks at me and my body (specially when i was around home wearing pijamas. I started feeling so bad I decided to wear looser clothing and to sleep fully covered!

A conversation among JWs likely always comes around to (at bare minimum) “the truth”, “Armageddon”, “Paradise” , family study, meeting, public talk, having a part on the “school”,, latest original song released,, Bible study, field service, return visit, making hours for the month, circuit overseer’s visit, new light , worldly people, apostates, governing body, latest Watchtower study article, latest JW broadcast, circuit assembly, regional convention, baptism - if you want to seem spiritual … so truly exhausting

I don't like Dave's line of argumentation. He notes that Solomon married all these pagan women, and then launches into why would he hang out with all these women without modesty, kindness, other virtues, etc. That is, he is assuming that pagan women would have no good virtues at all, which doesn't really bear out.
@MariaNunes-po5rc
@MariaNunes-po5rc Жыл бұрын
I,m almost sure that Salomon was intelligent enough to pick those women because they had good manners, well educated etc. I don't think King Salomon would like to have rude, or uneducated laddies next to him. And I,m sure he chose them because they were beautiful.... The only problem was ... They had other forms of worship... Salomon remain faithful to Almighty GOD YHVH for long time.... But when he was getting older that's when he was getting involved in false worship... Almighty GOD YHVH doesn't care about if they are forgiven women... He cares about being faithful when it comes to worship....

Solomon married Pagan Princesses for their massive DOWRY (that's where he received the bulk of his wealth from), in order to make "alliances" with the surrounding Nations, because Israel was a small and militarily weak Nation prone to invasions, and marrying the daughters of the neighboring Kings was the best way to ensure Political stability and his own survival.

To be brought up in an environment where it’s ok to be judge by everyone on everything you do takes a tremendous toll on your psychy and future behaviour. This is violence and most of us who got out probably will need some professional help to get over this kind of abuse and learn how to draw limits to protect ourselves. The BIBLE is the only book in the world that can be read, studied, analyzed and interpreted by all human beings but not meant to be understood by all the great, superior, glorious, intelligent, and powerful human beings in the world. Atheists, Agnostics, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, all Religions are fully aware that all of them intentionally rejected and degraded the BIBLICAL authority and teachings of Jesus Christ about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" as worthless and useless and fill the world instead with the LIES, DECEPTIONS, and UNBIBLICAL teachings and doctrines of the enemies of Jesus Christ about "Armageddon", "Hellfire", "Trinity", "Rapture", and "Reincarnation". All the great, superior, glorious, intelligent, and powerful Atheists, Agnostics, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, all Religions will never ever KNOW and UNDERSTAND that - 1. the Creator is the Most High and Sovereign God. 2. Jesus Christ is the One given by the Creator all authority in heaven and on earth. 3. all believers of the BIBLICAL authority and teachings of Jesus Christ about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" will be honored and rewarded by the Creator with ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and deaths. 4. the "Kingdom of God'' or "God's Rulership" through his Christ will make sure that planet earth will be safe, secure, peaceful and without arrogant, cruel, and hateful atheists, agnostics, and fanatics of religions, without liars, slanderers, deceivers, hypocrites, militaries, criminals, and terrorists. 5. the BIBLICAL teaching of Jesus Christ about the "Resurrection of the Dead" is the guarantee that all loving, kind, and respectful human beings who died even thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses, King David, Jesus Christ's disciples, all the Bible Writers, and many others will be resurrected back to life by Jesus Christ in the Creator's own right time. 6. all loving, kind, and respectful human beings who honor and obey the authorities, teachings, and commandments of the Creator and his Christ will fully enjoy the eternal love, kindness, generosities, compassions, favors, and blessings of the Creator and his Christ for eternity as submissive and obedient subjects or citizens of the "Kingdom of God" under the loving rulership, guidance, and protection of the Creator's Chosen King, his Christ.

Jewish tradition called the Pentateuch "the law of Moses". Therefore, 'it would seem reasonable' that he wrote them, especially since he was educated in Pharaoh's court. That's how the writer would know all the details such as the number of Israelites, etc. They really don't care about what scholars say, unless it agrees with what they want to believe. If it doesn't, they just say that 'historians will eventually figure it out' or that 'Jesus will explain it in the paradise'.

@@wendyh2708 a lot depends on the locality and how the elders perceive what's going on. You also have some jw rebels who'd tell the elders to get bent. In the 80s I went to jw teenager parties and sometimes worldly kids were invited and nobody thought twice about it. They always behaved appropriately .... by jw standards, and there was never a problem. I remember the jw kids telling them "see, we're not weird, we listen to music and dance and all that."

"There are no "sisters" there so he dances with worldly women" . Why aren't there any recreational activities for JW's? Don't they sometimes need a break from the constant bombardment of Jehovah,Jehovah, Jehovah, this must get very monotonous & tiring. They even can't vacation without involving the preaching. God did give us the gift of life for us to enjoy .

I enjoy you content. I watched a video a few days ago about this man David Splaine. You had a different commentary, you said that King Solomon couldn’t read Deuteronomy 17:17, because his reign as King was in the year 1037-997 BC and the book was not written yet. I ave done a little investigating myself and foun d that The book Of Deuteronomy was completed in 1406BC 330 years earlier. What says ye?

What happened to obeying the scripture "Do not judge?" First check out the log in your own eye before you pick the splinter out of someone else's. (Something to that effect) Why mention a young woman's short skirt when they themselves could be wearing over powering perfume or have shockingly bad breath for instance, are they to welcome such insulting remarks? They maybe taken aback for a bit and avoid you in future, but that only encourages divisions within a congregation

I think it's funny imaging a guy being harangued for wearing tight pants. Men usually are not judged for their choice of dress. If you can see the contours of a man's butt, as long as he's rather good-looking and has a cute ass, I might take a bit of a peek. How could I not? I like cute guys. It doesn't mean I'm going to cheat on my beloved hubby with them. I know he admires other pretty women besides me. I think it's healthy. Like I said, men are not judged for their physical appearance to the same degree as women are. It's a silly and outdated cultural standard, and one that I would say belongs in the Bronze Age.

Sorry, but I have to respond once again to this issue of when Deuteronomy was written. Are you suggesting that for hundreds of years until Deuteronomy was written, the Jews were missing out on a number of laws? Surely they had the law from the very beginning when the nation was formed, and they received the law on stone tablets. The Bible book of Deuteronomy was the law written down by a particular individual in a particular set of scrolls. Solomon would surely have known these laws even though this particular book had not been written yet. Am I missing something?
@cygnustsp

Yes. Law keeping wasn't the same when Israel was a tiny "nation" in David's and Solomon's time. The Bible exaggerates and inflates their numbers and practices. Archaeology finds very little more than a settlement in 1000bce. Most of the history of that period recorded in the bible was simply made up.

What's the JW found so attractive to change the point of view about whom really rules your teaching technique in these last days? The crystal balls, the government in place if that it's red or blue, the corp rules and help? What? When we gonna see an article about these changes in the organizations about rigids rules in what it's convient and flexible in what it's attractive? Does the new Magazine under espiritual guidance explain these teachings concepts that GB use to guide with ackwardness their sheeps?
