Not a big fan of the Leo Quan bridges either but you could put use little anti-seize on the screws. Vibra-Tite VC-3 may be another option. It’s kinda a pain to treat the saddle screws with but I’ve been experimenting with it to keep my bridge saddle screws from letting the saddles drop from vibration while still be able to easily adjust.

Hey Dave, I just recently bought a second-hand Ibanez Soundgear SR1306PM 6-string bass off of a friend of mine, I finally got it back to a playable condition yesterday when the strings I had bought for it on eBay, turned-up in the post, the 6-string bass has two active pickups on it, the string-gauges go from .130 to .032, I've got it sounding and playing great so far, nice low action on it too, the action is about 2mm for all the strings at the 12th fret, I've got it tuned B,E,A,D,G, and C.

Wow, just wow. I stumbled onto your channel and immediately subscribed. Learned more in one day than my many years of puttering around...must be because I'm really a drummer (I do play at the bass and try not to destroy my guitar). The dissimilar metals topic got my ears peaked, as I am versed in engineering and machining. I wonder if changing the bridge saddle set screws (and the intonation screws) to a non-ferrous metal, such as brass, would prevent this. Alternatively, going with stainless steel saddles, I would think, could prevent this as well. Which, if any, would you suggest?

@pedraw3 жыл бұрын
maybe try some "goof-off" or something similar.

Alcohol will get most of it off but will leave a ghost image. From there, try a very little bit of acetone, if the finish is poly. If the finish is lacquer, ask Dave.

I've used Simple Green on permanent marker on metal & plastic, it might work on wood too. After Dave recommended it for fret boards & other gooched areas, I bought a bottle. It's actually great stuff. The label suggests diluting it, but I use it full strength. Try it, it won't hurt anything.(at least it hasn't hurt any surface I've used it on.)

I had to do a similar thing. I bought a vintage bass body that was stored in bubble wrap for f*** knows how long.
