He needed to be able to accept help. In the end he would not or could not do that. He was in the denial that a lot of addicts live in. And until they are able to let go of that denial, no one can help them. Very sad and painful for everyone.

I met David back in 2000 at the Saratoga Racetrack. He looked great! I was so in love with David and still am. Nervous on line I could barely keep my head up. I had dreamt of this moment all my life and it was finally here. He signed my pamphlet which has his photo on it and I said thank you. Really I thought in my head? He politely said you are welcome with his whispering voice. He shortly thereafter walked away with his wife Sue. I should have followed them, but I decided not to. I sure miss David! There will never be another handsome guy like himself again!

I love this song! So sad about his diagnosis of dementia. I have great empathy for him, the way his father ridiculed him and his true desire 2 be a rockstar.
@andypandy4078 Жыл бұрын
That dementia would have been Korsakoff's Syndrome which strikes down certain long term alcoholics when it depletes vital chemicals in their brain. It's why diagnosed alcoholics are prescribed thiamine and vitamins to protect them from it. Once it starts it can destroy a person's brain very quickly. In my job I've seen a 39/40 year old with it living on an elderly person's dementia ward - a very tragic way to go. And as a male appreciator of DC's voice (George Michael was another David Cassidy fan hence his involvement in his career at one point in the late 80s) I just hope his end wasn't too prolonged.

This is from kathy casey. David Cassidy was my first love as a teenager. I grew up with the Patridge Family. Loved the show! He had such a beautiful smile and twinkling eyes when he was truly happy as in this video. He was a natural as a performer and had more charisma than Elvis. He was absolutely gorgeous on the outside but more importantly he had a beautiful soul on the INSIDE. In my opinion, he was genuine, real, down to earth, kind, not stuck up, had morals and values, and had integrity on a personal level and in his work ethic. Although I did not agree with his posing nude I understood why he did it. I did not live with him so I cannot say how he changed when he drank if he did change on the inside. Only his family and spouses can attest to that. Anyway, what you saw is what you got. I would like to say to him that he did not have to worry about what his father thought about him or try so hard to get his approval because he had superior and tremendous talent as an actor, singer, songwriter, etc. He was truly one of a kind and his fans miss him alot and still love him many many years later. I have most of his cd's and records and still love listening to his sweet beautiful voice. I only wish he had not been so emotional and sensitive so he could had beaten his demons and alcohol addiction. He took after his father as his father was a great actor also and had a beautiful voice also. I hope David is at peace now and with Jesus.

This is such a cool song! Yes Molly I understand how you feel. I for one, moved on from him musically many years ago and now, just rediscovered him, when it's too late. Sad and feel so angry with myself. He really was a rare talent. Something I wasn't aware of at 14. Just watched the David Cassidy Story, which I understand he was happy with the portrayal of himself. And also watching so many interviews with him over the years here on KZbin now. He was a lovely soul. Treated dreadfully in various ways. But he kind of just disappeared right in the middle of his hey day in the mid-70s and everything kind of moved on for us down under here. He had explained that. But one thing I'm not clear on from the biographical story, is what happened to everything he lost, where he ended up with nothing, around the time of the ending of the Partridge Family?
