+AKABoondock19 For me, this Cover of that legendary Song was actually one of the best Covers of any Song i have ever heard in my Life. That Performance kinda starts very calm and smooth, but then turns into something very raw, raspy and powerful. And for me who has to admit that i haven`t even heard of "Disturbed" before, i found a new very beautiful Voice. A Voice i want to hear more of, a Voice that especially in this Sound of Silence Performance gave me some serious Goosebumps. And when that happens, you know and feel its what good Music is all about.
@kenpoguy91048 жыл бұрын
+Kitebuggy I actually heard Disturbed's version first and the original about ten minutes ago. I love the vocal harmony ( in the same breath as the Eagles) in S&G but the difference really shows up in the last verse. S&G are sad but D'ed is ANGRY about seeing people worship a "neon god." It's cool to see a heavy metal singer bring such gravitas. Kinda confirms my faith in metal. That said, let nothing be taken from Simon and Garfunkel for standing the test of time. Reply

+kennedymeow Heavy metal has some truly talentuous people among its ranks. David Draiman (Disturbed) has incredible vocal control, Maynard James Keenan (Tool) has incredible songwriting skills, Zack De La Rocha (Rage Against The Machine) has an incredible ability to whip up frenzied crowds, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) has awesome emotional influence on his fans, the list goes on and on. Its an extremely complex genre which should not be perceived as merely loud hard guitar music.

I am a faithful Simon & Garfield fan, their music touched the souls and resonated for generations with their music, David Draiman, you, Sir, have recreated a traditional sing and owned it! Not many covers are done that bring emotions to a boiling point, as done with 'Sounds of Silence'. I was overwhelmed by your version, I was riding my Harley , going nowhere, when this song came on. +TheChazaqingdude - Where? Everyone I see loves Disturbed or is talking about the guy's awkward arm move. Please don't use the word "hater"when trying to defend Disturbed. It devalues the band and the fans. Leave the "ur all juss h8in" comments to the stupid 12 year old shits who listen to nicki minaj and justin bieber.
@TheChazaqingdude8 жыл бұрын
+ First of all, I am not the kind to just call out haters without looking through the comments. In my defense, there seemed to be a 70/30 split on bad to good comments when I made this comment last week. I am not sure if people deleted or what...the one that stood out to me was a troll talking about them ruining a classic and "missing the point behind the original song". That was the main reason for the comment. In retrospect, the term "many" might have been an exaggeration. Anyway, thanks for the constructive criticism. As I said, I am not a true fan, so I have not damaged the band or the fandom's reputation in any way. Cheers!
@shoopoop218 жыл бұрын
+TheChazaqingdude You should still show respect for discourse. "You dislike because you hate" is a logical fallacy called a non-sequitur, and indulging in it is disrespectful to everyone, but mostly to the people who want to have an honest debate on merits. You're not a fuckup, so I know that wasn't your intention, but still, keep in mind that when you post "So many haters" you're talking to everyone. It makes you look stupid too, by association like the other anon pointed out.

I have to be honest here: It was by accident that I clicked on the Conan show with the "Disturbed" version of the Simon & Garfunkel (S&G) classic; only because I like and have their music on Vinyl. Also I'm a Rock fan and I've been looking for alternative Rock music as opposed to the 1950/ 60/70s stuff I grew up with. I was blown away with David Draimans awesome voice & performance. Starting off gentle and building up to such a powerful finish; absolutely Brilliant! Hope "Disturbed" do similar stuff in the future. Betcha there's lots of people who think Rock Musicians aren't talented in the voice department, only screaming out notes! David put that notion to bed with his, and the "Disturbed" performance that night! I mainly listen to Rock where the words and wordings actually mean something, not just a jumbled-up 'mess' to make it 'fit'! This usually encompasses most Disco and POP that record companies produce; not for the individuals or bands, but for the record companies to make Loadsa-money! Ever wondered why there's sooo many "One-Hit" wonders? Record companies "Use" people to make the company money, not the musicians, who are used, abused, then "Dumped"! There's exceptions to this rule of course, but some of them only last a limited time. So I'd like to say Thank you to David and "Disturbed" for opening my eyes. I give them top marks and a big 👍😎😀 keep on Rocking. "Disturbed" have joined my list of best-Ever Rock Bands, alongside the likes of Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, dIRE sTRaits, Queen, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, RHCPeppers and many many more, too numerous to mention, so many Superb Bands from Yesteryear. Y'all Have a Nice Day😀
