I remember in my late teens sitting in a stolen car with two of my childhood friends, in a car park taking heroin… this song came on the radio and we all paused in a moment of life evaluation… for those 2 minutes we shared this song and a magical moment. my two friends are no longer here… yet my life has ended up really good, great job, home, and a family that love me… I’m 40 years old on Sunday, I consider myself very lucky!

How beautiful....just a month has passed since we buried mum.....oh my God we sadly only just skim the surface of how magical our loved ones are and the time spent with them is precious. Then when they aren't with us anymore boy do we realise how unique they were and a song can bring all those memories of them back to us....and it's so bloody hard....

My brother died today.. I was working with him. He was diabetic.. He told us his blood sugar was low.. He had glucose tablets in his backpack and emergency diabetic supplies. We offered him some food not even 5 minutes before he fell. My friend we were helping with a job told me my brother was on the ground. I had just seen him a minute before that standing up. We didn't have cell service where we were at.. We carried him to the truck and drove to the nearest house. They let us come in and we began chest compressions my brother had stopped breathing. I gave my brother mouth to mouth.. I felt his hands grow cold. I watched as his face turned pale. We continued for 30 minutes before emergency vehicles showed up and continued on for another hour... Until there was nothing we could do anymore. I watched as my brother was zipped into a body bag... I cried... I couldn't cry. Then cried some more. I prayed. I pleaded. I let go. I decided to try to finish the job my brother and I started.. On the way back to unload the lumber... This song played on the radio... So beautiful. Rest in peace brother Jesus has you now. This isn't goodbye... I'll see you later... Until then I'm gonna strive to make you proud... You will be sorely missed. I love you always. I know you'll always be with me.. You wont have to suffer anymore. I'm gonna miss you. Until we meet again my friend!

my sons were messing around with my mom's old record collection that she gave me. My mom has records since the 1940s. I also have glass records from my grandmother since the late 1800's.. I had a large cassete tape collection that is gone now and a lot of my cd collection is missing which is a long story. My sons were messing with the records I had left, cassettes, and cds. they were messing with my old cds and talking about them with me and then they found David Greay. I was a dj in highschool and college. I was working on an associates in radio broadcasiting and I was working at a cafe on the campus. I was a dj on college radio for years and was an intern for a lot of stations and I remember this was one of my favorite songs to play. The entire album is so amazing and unique. Once the cafe closed and I was totally discouraged by my father and transferred to a different job I felt I was going nowhere. I gave it all up to marry my middle school sweetheart who was in the navy when we graduated highschool.. I have been with my husband my wholle life and we are very happy still, but I gave up a lot of dreams. I was a dj for a long time and this song was huge then. It's too bad that it faded away in peoples memories. It's still good. It's still a gem. Thanks David Gray for all of the good memories. You are still an idol in my heart and am icon at everything I deejayed. I have a lot of fond memories with this song, and now my sons will too.. My husband does also, God bless!

It was hilarious. 🤣 I don’t know what it was about this song but it’s the only one he ever did that to. So of course I think of him any time I hear this song. But it’s a great song from a GREAT album and I highly recommend you checking out the rest of this album for sure. It’s absolutely fantastic. Glad you found it after looking for it for so long. This song came out when I was 23, and now I'm 45. Almost half my life ago. I'm not sure what made me think of this song. Being in a place now, traveling for an extended period, where I'm contemplating everything that has ever happened in my life and the music that draws me to those memories. This song has has a special place in my timeline.

I was born in 1990 and this song could be in the background of some of the most "coming of age" moments of my life as I look back. So many people listened to it so you would hear it everywhere you went.

David Gray's music makes me feel so nostalgic. It reminds me of the bus rides into town with mum as a young kid, his music was on the radio a lot back then in the early 2000s. My town (Christchurch City, NZ) changed so much after the earthquakes and isn't the same anymore. So this music takes me back to a better time 💜

What a time the 90s were. As a child, I remember falling in love with this song and so many others and feeling nothing but optimism. I feel so lucky to have grown up in this era. No social media. Tech didn't rule our day to day lives. Truly simpler times.

This song reminds me of a time in my life with lots of turmoil. A person, Daryl, came into my life and was nothing more than a friend. A friend who was needed and always lent an ear to my chaotic life and back and forth thoughts on a love lost. Still think of this guy now as he always used to listen to this song. Thanks for all the support D - miss ya man!

Such a beautiful song, every time I hear it, it brings back the year 2000, when we had one foot still in the 20th Century, and the other in the 21st, the comfortable past was slipping away, and an unknowable future coming at us like a freight train.

When this was released I was living and working away from home. I was lonely and not very happy. I heard this on the radio, went out and bought the album and played it in my little flat. It cut through me like a knife through butter. It is, without doubt one of the best songs I have ever heard. So full of depth and melancholy and meaning. Thanks David, you're a star. BTW the live version you did at that concert in Switzerland was wonderful.

It’s great hearing how this song makes people feel nostalgic. I was born at the tail end of the 80s. Back in 2000 this song along with a few other artists was some of the first music I listened to that wasn’t my parents influence (they still think 70s music is the best). The video is a great representation of London at the end of the 90s. It’s good to relive those memories.

The love of my life left because our relationship turned toxic with jealousy & bitterness. We couldn't communicate afterwards without a screaming match. One day i just said to her that I'm not contacting her anymore & sent her this song. 2 hrs later, the door knocked & there she was with her bags. I'll always always keep this song close to my heart. ❤
