I just love this. Especially the way that around 7:40 Bach starts to really soar and dive in a major mode through a series of explorations of the theme, endlessly inventive but always coherent, taking the listener on a thrilling journey similar to a meditation where the mind wanders here and there. Then around 8:30 it drifts off again like a dream before eventually retuning to the C minor theme. This is what marks Bach out as special - his peregriations are never contrived or artificial.

A tour de force, performing with great precision and authenticity, one of the most exhilarating, thrilling pieces of keyboard music surely ever written?

Stunning virtuosity. We can only wonder what people must have thought of this piece 250 years ago. Bach continues to amaze. My only criticism of this brilliant performance (after hearing only Angela Hewitt's) refers to the fugue section which itself can be sub-divided in to smaller parts. I think there is a 'blurring' between the parts partly down to the tempo. Hewitt tends to 'introduce' them with a bit more space. It's a personal thing, I suppose.

I love your performance, I think it's wonderful! However, I think from 5:33 to 5:38 you could relish the harmony a little bit more. Maybe you could take your time there, slow down just a bit, because I think that moment is really importante inside the piece. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Well done! :)

I hate good pianists ... they make my renditions of Bach sound like a blind man trying to play Charles Ives with his feet.
