Once Upon a Time in the West IS fantastic. Absolutely amazing action film. They don't make movies like that anymore. Or if they do, it's like once a decade. It's more like an opera with how well the music blends into everything. You can see in many shots how the composition has been planned with the music in mind and then cut properly for ideal emotional impact. And the storytelling, the dialogue. There's nothing extra. Everything fits.

I didn't get or like David Letterman originally. He was on too late for me, and what little I saw was so out of context it seemed meanspirited. And THEN I moved to Brooklyn/NYC for graduate school...THEN I GOT THE JOKES. Were it not for David Letterman I could not do my job as a Tour Guide in NYC. I had to develop that attitude, the NY edge, that I (from a small community outside of Pittsburgh, PA) didn't have. Unknown to him, he was a real role model to me. I regret that night when 3 of us had tickets to Les Miserables some guy offered us tickets to see Dave, and I didn't want to be the jerk that abandoned his girlfriend and another female friend. Every Christmas will include the Darlene Love Supercut of Baby, Please Come Home (Bruce Kapler on Sax!) and the late Jay Thomas "Lone Ranger" tale ("They'll believe me, Citizen!") God bless you and family!

Love @Letterman since 1981. From his Weather days a co-worker told me about, and guest hosting too. I'd get off my CNA job at 11, get home and settled and Letterman was on. Best way to wind down after work! Loved every minute of every year I've been able to watch you! Sidenote: Just Curious... Has @StephenAtHome ever acknowledged that his Questionert is basically (a copy/homage to/or rip-off of) James Lipton's (Inside the Actor's Studio) questions. "Most of the shows was a one-on-one interview conducted by the host James Lipton in the 22 seasons. It`s followed by the host submitting a questionnaire to the guest. The questionnaire concept aired on Actors Studio was originated by the French television personality Bernard Pivot on his show Apostrophes, (1975-1986) the Proust Questionnaire." PS If you've never watched them - do a search - great stuff. Glad that something similar is being carried on. Stephen should ask ALL of his guests, like Lipton did. It's good value!

I attended the David Lettermen show on the road in Chicago in the 80s. His guest was Jay Leno, who brought a bag of the Chicago classic Italian beef sandwiches (much better than fried baloney). Leno threw sandwiches into the audience. The most striking thing: during breaks Dave just sat there immersed in his own thoughts. He didn't interact with the audience or even the guest sitting next to him. The breaks were just as long as the commercials played, no edits, and the band just played the whole time.
