What a beautiful interview. Rodigan has nothing to prove .. a humbleness in the pursuit of what he loves doing ‘turning on’ people to good music. In the mid 80’s his shows were instrumental in opening the eyes of this white boy from Essex. He introduced me to conscious lyrics; and the plight of black folk. A real bridge to understanding for me. I’ll be ever thankful. ‘Brand new crisp biscuit’

+yorkshire rose Seriously, you want these guys? I don't want to insult you or your taste in music but surely they are the most boring in all of english music, plus they have been interviewed so many times over scores of years that aren't over interviewed by now? Let's hear interviews by unknowns, by the avant-garde, by those who have given so much but are still unknown... Anyway as I said no insult to you is meant, cheers James

Mr Rodogan is a legend. Not liking the interviewer though! His expressions and manner even the background music being played throughout the interview feels like a man who is living in a constant state of depression, which is not what reggae music and culture is about. It often feels like his trying to paint a negative view of the music and culture. The legend that is Rodigan shines a light in this interview by his relaxed nature and genuine love and appreciation of not only Jamaican music and culture but most of all black people. Where as the interviewer seems to want to play on the sterotypes and dismiss what is an international phenomenon that Jamaica and its people brought to the world. He frequently describes the music as dark whereas he comes across as very dark and dull, so that must be the darkness his trying to ascribe to the uplifting and undeniable genre that is Reggae.

When a white boy latch onto black music he gets knighted, but the originators don't even get a mention.
@solfergav4 жыл бұрын
@Derek Brome Latches on to black music? Seriously? The man was and is obsessed with reggae and has nothing more than good to say about the artists whose music he's shared. Why do people feel the need to make that an issue..?

I don't think that is Rodigan's fault, but the interviewer's.
