David Schultz - Steroids & Drug Use in Pro Wrestling

"Dr. D" David Schultz discusses steroids in pro wrestling and how most of the stars you see on TV are jacked to the gills.
Schultz wrestled and worked for both AWA (American Wrestling Alliance) and later WWF (World Wrestling Federation).
Dr. D says that if steroids are allowed in wrestling they should be allowed in all sports and entertainment. Schultz also talks about his own use of certain pain medication to help with injuries.

He made a really good point about steroids. You can go to the gym for 10 years, you’ll never look like someone who uses roids. I wish users and society in general was more open about it because it engenders a false image about what in-shape men are supposed to look like.

It's easy for people to get an ideal of what someone in shape should look like, it's the swimmer body thin, toned but not bulked..

I remember back in the day, almost at the end of his PW run, Schultz was a babyface in Montreal feuding with Hercules Ayala. It didn't last long, but it was sure different seeing him being cheered. Dr. D didnt' act any different. Abdullah the Butcher was also a babyface in Montreal around that time too.

I don't care if pro wrestlers do or don't do steroids. It's not a legitimate competitive sport. But they shouldn't be allowed in a competitive sport.

@granddaddyofthemall6320 But that's the point, not everyone should have to use steroids. Nobody should have an unnatural advantage over anyone else in a legitimate competitive sport. Professional athletes are literally and figuratively in a league all their own. They are extremely gifted athletes on a level most of us couldn't even hope to be on. They have intangible characteristics that most of us could only dream of having. Nobody should have to take some foreign substance which can screw your health up or kill you to be able to compete. And if one is allowed to take it, then by default, everyone else has to take it to make up for the unfair and unnatural advantage that the one guy or girl has. It shouldn't be that way.

@@FuzzyWuzzy75 First off all athletes are on steroid where steroids help in that sport only thing people are just trying to hide it and not get caught so it should be legal to avoid that. And you have those silly talking points steroids are not dangerous if you are concerned about danger you should want the NFL to be banned because football player die earlier and have more injuries 90% of all NFL players have brain damage and NFL players are 4x more likely to have ALS, NFL is way more hazardous to health than steroids. So do you want to ban the NFL?

Dr. D was a true legend. He did not take steroids like many of the steroid buffed up wrestlers. Dr. D was a bounty hunter after he left the ring. Vince McMahon and his henchmen set Dr. D up with the John Stossel interview. That destroyed Dr. D's wrestling career. He gave some of the best interviews. "What's the matter with you Gene, l wanted a woman?" Dr. D. David Schultz, one of the best.

I don't have an issue with wrestlers using steroids at all I support it 100%👍 but taking way way to much steroids is definitely not good + going way overboard cause there is definitely a big difference in taking steroids & abusing steroids

You can only get so big natural mine was 198 AT 5/4 28 inch waist did Tae bow for cardio kickboxing to but I couldn't hit 200 pound lifted heavier ate more changed my workouts got told if I wanted to get bigger I might have to take next step but I didn't.

what’s the difference between MMA and ProWrestling? When the wrestlers take steroids they end up looking impressive.

The difference is in their training. Pro wrestlers lift weights like bodybuilders to put on the mass and have the cuts. Different kind of physical training than mma. Big muscles require a lot of oxygen. That would effect cardio big time in an mma fight. Big muscles also have a negative effect on speed and flexibility.
