Dual Survival REALLY sucks without you on there.Your food looks pretty good there though I have to say. There is just something special about cooking your food over hot wood coals that adds a whole new element of flavors with the smoke and stuff that just cannot be duplicated in a regular kitchen. - Stay frosty, stay safe Dave.

Dave, I have just got to say this; What you teach and promote is basic stuff, I grew up with it, for those our age raised by elders who KNEW these skills and taught us. The way you bring it to ALL is what puts you above the rest, IN this generation(21st Century). I commend you SIR!!! Who else agrees?

05:00 that was actually one of the viking secrets to travel fast and light. No handles for axes, spears and other tools. Also sometimes no boards for the shields. They'd get the ship to shore and make them. Great video Dave

I seen you were making the handle on the tomahawk out of Maple. I just wanted to clear up the soft/hard wood maple thing. I have "soft maple" trees in my yard. These are big leaf maples which are fast growing to provide shade and are not found in my area. Natural maples east of the Mississippi are normally hard woods.

Another great squirrel vid. One related thing I never hear anyone talk about is the lack of game as compared to the days of Boone and the others. In the day duck migrations blotted out the sun, turkeys and other game were underfoot and the rivers and streams were bursting with fish. Game can still be had, for sure, but we should not base our food ideas too closely on what they did in the past. Things are different now.

Dried rice and beans go with just about anything. Looks like all you were missing to make a nice comfort meal there would be a piece of bread of some kind to help clean out the pot after you were done or nearly done to sop up the rest with. a trick I use sometimes if there is a stream nearby I hold the pot in the cool water as I stir to cool it down to a comfortable eating temp if I don't want to wait for it to cool or constantly blow it cool. works to get you back to other tasks a lot sooner.

Hey Brother, I'm subscribed and watch all of your videos but this is my first comment. I just wanted to say thanks for all the informative videos and wish that more people would learn the skills of self sufficiency and pass it along to their children. I see the need more and more everyday for us to be self reliant. I just did a trapping demo for the boy scouts last weekend and it really shocked me when I asked them " who has ever trapped before" only 3 or 4 out of 50-60 had ever done so, thanks
