I'm 27 and my parents just told me the truth about themselves. They thought I couldn't handle the truth. I had already figured out there was something going on, despite learning about their very sketchy past, my view of them hasn't changed

I love that she is stressing that it takes time years to heal. I did feel the loss of something I could have had but didn’t. My mother remarried when I was 13. When she did remarry my stepfather represented hope of having a father and a family. He was very nice to me when she dated him but once they were married he became mean and abusive. That relationship was cut off in my heart. When my mother called me to his bedside that he had died when I got to their home I busted out crying and it shocked me. I was baffled as to why at 26 I cried like that and then I realized I was grieving the loss of something that could have been But wasn’t. As David said before there are all kinds of grief.

To say that affairs happen in good relationships is totally insane. Unfaithfulness and betrayal is the very definition of a bad relationship.
