I've listened to many big preachers for years and none of them ever mentioned David Pawson. I stumbled on this wonderful Bible teacher just two months ago on KZbin and my life has never been the same. It's rather strange that most of my favourite preahers are those I stumbled upon by myself. It's now clear to me that some of God's most faithful and greatest servants may never get mentioned on the pulpits of this world.
@DavidPawsonMinistry9 ай бұрын
Amen There is a reason why many faithful and great servants do not get a mention - these teachings may not be ''popular' with today's woke 'opinions' ......... Whilst sadly many good teachers will do not always promote those that influenced their thinking I know for a fact many of the great preachers in Asia today, fed on and were very influenced by this mans teaching in their early years - to God be the glory for providing us with such teachers who were prepared to defend the truth .....no matter how popular or unpopular that made them

I agree with many of the teachings of the late David Pawson. but in the 28th minute of this video, he claimed that Romans does not mention repentance. This makes no sense when reading Romans 2:4-5. He mentioned how some Christians like to gloss over chapters 9-11, but he himself seemed to be glossing over part of Romans 2.

This is the third or fourth time I have heard someone give a testimony of their own or of someone else with the words from Jesus “Follow Me”. I had precisely the same call one night after I had been singing all day without a care in the world. I must admit that, when Jesus first called me to follow him, I asked him about those behind me (meaning my family), and He simply said “Don’t worry admit them. You just follow me”. I committed myself to following Him no matter what, even if it cost me my life. I haven’t been perfect, and I have messed up since and had to repent a number of times, but I have found that, once you follow Jesus, nothing else satisfies at all.

The difference is that He experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit and was filled with the wisdom and understanding with such humility that makes his teaching such edifying lectures to those who seek Him.
Actually , according to my understanding, every preacher has been used and is being used by our Father and our Lord Jesus for each generation. The only different gift of our late preacher David Pawson was his thorough and profound study of the background of his topic, which makes it a real life and real people living at ----THAT TIME

Phi 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, cultivate your own salvation with fear and trembling. Notice first, however, that the apostle did not speak of working for salvation. He spoke of working it out, which is very different. I am reminded of a little girl who listened to a legalistic sermon preached on this text. The minister insisted that no one could be saved by grace alone; each person must work out his own salvation. At the close of the service she innocently asked, “Mother, how can you work it out if you haven’t got it in?” If salvation of the individual were being contemplated here, it might be enough of an explanation to say, “It is your own; therefore manifest it-work it out.” But more than individual salvation is being contemplated. Taken in context, verse 12 refers to assembly salvation. That is, Paul was giving direction to an assembly of Christians. They were exposed to difficulties from without and from within; they were passing through a world totally opposed to the testimony committed to them. Paul was showing them how to continue in fellowship together in spite of the fact that each individual had within him a corrupt nature that could surface-to the detriment of the whole church-if given the opportunity. We have already noticed that there was some difficulty in the Philippian assembly between two sisters of prominence, Euodias and Syntyche. This disagreement could easily cause distressing quarrels and even division if not judged in the presence of the Lord. Similar misunderstandings could arise from time to time and would need to be carefully watched for. When the apostle himself was with the Philippians, they could refer all such matters to him and he would, so to speak, work out their salvation from these perplexities. He would advise and guide as needed. But at the time he was writing to them, he was far away. He was a prisoner for the gospel’s sake and could not personally give the help he wanted to provide. Since he was absent, he directed them as obedient children to work out their own salvation in godly fear and with exercise of soul, so that they would not depart from the right path or stray out of the will of God. Ironside

I don't disagree with what you say in the last paragraph, but I think it still refers to our overall salvation. The bible is to be understood in many levels , not just one. Kaytey

Hab 2:4 quoted in Rom 1:17 is probably better translated "the just shall live by his faithfulness." Also, in the Greek NT, the word "faith" can also be translated as "faithfulness" (3 out of 100 places in the NT). Because of this I suggest that a possible (and I think better) translation of v 17 could be "...from faith to faithfulness, as it is written: the just shall live by his faithfulness." God receives people by faith alone, but brings them to a place of where that faith is acted out in faithfulness (otherwise we don't have saving faith; faith without works is dead). Abraham is the forerunner of this process. This translation/interpretation also expresses the "power" of the Gospel mentioned in v16 in making us faithful. Further, v18 gives us the negative contrast to faithfulness in showing us what lack of faith, leading to unfaithfulness, looks like. "Suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" is an expressed lack of faith in a righteous and just God because we want to behave unrighteously.
@rgnold2517 Жыл бұрын
I enjoy his teaching very much, don't agree with everything he says but he is very good at conveying the "essence" of scripture. And personally I don't believe there's anyone who gets it 100%, except Jesus. However I am kind of perplexed that he does not know, nor realize, that many of the epistles of the New Testament were actually what is called "responsa," meaning it is an "answer letter" to questions having been posed by a congregation to a figure of authority in areas that require further clarification. This tradition has to do with what's called halakhah, "the walk of the path." This is a rabbinical practice from Judaism. It was some years into this practice before these letters were accumulated and archived. There's now over 1,700 years of history of the rabbinic responsa. Paul, having been a devout Jew would be quite familiar with this practice. Many rely on this resource to clarify appropriate attitudes and actions. Our Bible is a Jewish/Middle Eastern document, one who studies this document should have some idea of the culture and it's history before approaching an understanding of the material.

27:20 "there is nothing about repentance in the whole letter to the Romans". What about Rom 2:4? "There is nothing about the future, about the second coming of the Lord" - well not in so many words but there are certainly elements of eschatology throughout eg. Rom. 2:1-11. Perhaps I misunderstood or it's hyperbole but I think it is not "nothing".
