The 1973 Tii motor gets resealed, mated to an e21 Five speed and reinstalled in back in the car! Then its time for its first start.

The car looks and sounds great 🤩. You put a lot of work into this car and it shows. The result is very nice 😍. If I were picky, I would say the brake booster may have deserved a bit of love. With a shiny engine, new subframe and suspension, it stands out like a sore thumb 😎.

Came here after restoring BMW 2002 in the Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 - Game. Loved to see it in real. You made it look just like the game but I can only guess the real hard work gone into it. You really have a superpower!

Lovin' your efforts, David, both with the camera and especially with the car. And sir, you know how to "burn a weld" for sure! I'm in the midst of much of the same with my '74tii. . .
@regsparkes65072 жыл бұрын
David, after all of this work, you've replaced, welded, hammered, painted and repaired almost every part but,.. the camera shows us the brake booster as NOT painted,... why not? It's a beautiful looking car, you've done really well quite apparently. Sorry that I just had to see that and question it, but hey, this is what happens when the viewer is only looking through a camera lens.

E21 5 SPEED????? You lucky guy!!!! Have been looking for one for AGES here in Europe, but the few I could find were way too pricey (they easily exceed the 1k euros, go figure!!!). E30 M10 5 speeds come ridiculously cheap, compared, will fit BUT no place for the speedo cable 😞

Hi David, I'm about to take the engine out of my 1600-2, but saw that you dropped the engine and subframe altogether. Are there any instructions you know of on how to do this? Cheers

No velocity stacks on the Webers? I put foam motor cycle filters on mine to keep the the velocity stacks. I had BBS 3 piece 6 inch wheels, Alpina intakes and throttle linkage. I had 33 chokes on the Weber's . A 74 with the ugly bumpers, turbo air dam. She was a runner.

Thank you! I don’t know the brand of exhaust. I want to say it’s an Ansa but I’m not sure. It’s an old setup. Sounds great though!

Another awesome video David ! Just curious about gearbox setup. This is not Getrag 245 with speedo cable hole, am I right ? Can you please specify your setup ? I am looking for 5 speed but maybe overlooking different setups than 245s.. thank you
@davidsgarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This is a Getrag 245, with the speedo cable hole. I believe it has a 2002 automatic speedo cable as they are longer. Hope that helps!

I’m rebuilding an m10 there is a heater hose in the back of the block I believe or a coolant line. I don’t know what it’s purpose is because it looked like it was connected to hose that went into the firewall. I was wondering if I could cap it off. I see you have a metal line that looks like it 90s off into the back of the block.
@davidsgarage8 ай бұрын
If its what I am thinking that’s a coolant hose to the heater box!
@SlowA5F8 ай бұрын
Do you know if I can cap it off or do I have to run that
@SlowA5F8 ай бұрын
Because it comes from the water pump.

Are you sure this is a tii engine? Tii means injected with a kugelfischer system. It seems as though this engine does not have an injection system but duel side draft carbs, maybe its a ti engine?

Hi David great job 👍 How much did you reduced the driveshaft ? I am about to install a 5 speed too. Thanks Farid

Thank you! The car actually had a dogleg five speed so the driveshaft was already the right length!

Sorry. To bother you but question if you have the time. Engine is all fresh rebuilt but for some reason I can’t get the engine to rev past 3500 rpm’s and it back fires like a tank.
@davidsgarage2 жыл бұрын
That will be down to ignition and carb tuning. Can’t tell you exactly what would be wrong but look at engine igntion timing first. Backfire is usually sparking at the wrong time!
