David was listening to Alex with the facial expression of an upset father

Dude listening to Alex's struggles with his own self esteem, him perceiving himself on a lower pedestal, being timid around women, and not catching onto those cues is very relatable to me. And seeing all the pain and shit he went through, and all the unresolved things he still has yet to sort through and come to peace with. Reminds me that I'm really not ready for to be in a relationship yet emotionally, mentally, and physically. As I too still need to learn how to love myself, build up my own confidence, and practice more self compassion and gratitude, before I'm even ready to begin to take that step towards building something with someone.

This episode with Alex really helped me realize a few things. My last relationship ended badly. Many of my friends told me it was abusive and toxic. I 100% denied it thinking it was all my fault. Until recently with the quarantine I’ve had time to think. Just hearing Alex about his experience and David clarifying things helped me realize I was %100 in an abusive relationship. Thank you I really appreciate it.

Man, my heart was breaking listening to Alex's story :( I never went through his situation, but the little details about someone hiding you from everyone when you're obviously together, being called jealous when you say something, and especially having low self esteem and not believing that this person is actually with you was so relatable. I'm glad he's in a better place now, I know someone great will come his way in the right time 💛

One time this guy that was hanging out with my friends and I ordered a drink and then went to use the bathroom. Long story short, I ended up paying for the drink because he was still in the bathroom and a line was forming. Not only did he not thank me, he turned his lip at me. Later that night, told me that he enjoyed the date. It wasn't even a date, we didn't even invite each other we were invited by different friends. However, instead of telling him off and throwing the drink in his face or something, I was just like haha me too... he would also constantly guilt trip me and make up crazy accusations. I didn't realize he was manipulative and abusive until about 2 months later when my brain did a complete 180. One time I had a dream he died and had one of the best sleeps of my life lmao.

I just got out of an abusive relationship just like that. I was really insecure and thought this guy was the world. He was older had kids and while he’s using me getting me to purchase his parents old house he was seeing his ex wife and using her. Left me a month after I put a final down payment on what was supposed to be our house. Now I’m out here starting over again while he’s trying to get his name on her house 😂 but the struggle is so much better than being worried if he’s cheating on me 24/7. Same thing happened to me. I got played so bad. Lesson that I learn is not to give your trust people entirely. And always think about yourself cuz people take advantage of other for their selfishness. And to add up about Alex's problem with girls. Man! Just have fun and if you like a girl try to ask them out ASAP and if they're in a relationship. Just move on. And tell yourself .. ON TO THE NEXT ONE! And btw I'm an immigrant so I'm having a hard time looking for GF cuz of my communication skills. But I just told myself that even if I'm not born here in the US and talking to people is harder . I I just need to adapt and adjust myself. and be myself. Pretty girls are often have issues about themselves. I HATE THE GIRL THAT PLAYED! But I just need to move on and be happy of what I havfe right now. MYSELF PEACE.

Goddamn. I've literally been seeing Alex's story happening in irl in my life but with my ex-roommate. Almost the same thing happening - he started flirting with this "perfect" girl last summer who was in a relationship at his work, came back into his life months later, she was living with her now ex, started dating right after she broke up but still "friends" ex, then moved in together after a month of dating, and now the rest of us waiting to see if a similar end happens lol

Damn, I have the same problem. Just dumb to situations; no experience. I grew up a chubby husky kid, so my confidence was low so thinking that anyone like me was impossible to me So later in life, that same confidence is still low. My only confidence comes from me putting my head down and put in work on grades or sports, basically shot I could control. recently I have this weird uninterested in approaching someone cause of that thought of instant denial
@hollywood4994 жыл бұрын
This guy is literally the male version of me. Except I think I'm pretty attractive and have had long term relationships but also have put up with a lot of BS because of my inability to communicate my needs. Always worried about how the other person feels (Esp if they leave because of your standards). You may feel like you are communicating but even then it's sugar coated because of that internal fear. It's called fear of abandonment. Where i got it from, idk. But it's that self fulfilling prophecy/negative thinking/not being able to handle the natural phenomenon of rejection. People will treat you how you let them. And if you communicate your needs and they bounce, it's a good thing. It sucks but it's the "rejection" you needed. Why go on being with someone or pursuing someone when it's not good for you, it doesn't necessarily mean the other person is an asshat or that you're needy. You just don't vibe that way. I also got out of a 3yr toxic relationship that I wasn't ready for even at the start..and the lying and criticisms did a number to my self esteem. So even if you want to date other people after a few months of breaking up, you know deep down it's not good for you. No matter how much you try to cover up your insecurities and play it vool, they will show. You really need to work on your shit and forget about that kind of companionship. Anything you try to build at a low point will likely suffer from your own unresolved issues. I hoped that the right person would work with me through it, if someone I liked with relationship potential came around, but you can't expect it, they have needs to. I'm still working on this and writing it out helps. Thx for the upload David lol

Yo 100 if guys are reading this coming from a girl!! When girls date you there's no secret what you look like under your shirt so most likely she's into you. There are girls who find guys attractive who aren't super fit or even have some weight on them! Be confident own who you are its attractive af There going to be someone who's into you just be yourself.

I'm not sure what school David went to that girls would only ever did class to meet guys ever into. The school I went to girls would skip class to skip class, hang out with her boyfriend, or hang out with a friend who is either a guy or a girl regardless if they're interested in them or not. So I could definitely see how he can misread that situation.

I'm glad I'm black, we don't blush 😄 Men are a lot easier than you think (except me, I'm terrible). Lip licking, puffed chest, we move closer, we sometimes tilt our head. Something I find that works with men who are on their own that you're interested in is "may I sit next to you?" Or something adjacent. You both can get a bit comfortable that way (unless the dude is me, in which case I'll just be confused).

Let's be honest real quick, and if any ladies out their come up on this comment go ahead and give your personal opinion and whether or not you would agree or disagree with this, BUT what if women were to actually dressed, oh I don't know, use their words and just tell the guy that's interested then maybe it just might be a little bit easier on them? I mean if you want to go for the hint hint first then find go for it, but if you just doesn't get the hint and you really why can't do that how about you just tell him. And you'll probably see is just how much easier it is for you just to get him to notice you that way or to see if he's interested in you at all. Just a suggestion.
