I feel like a lot of people don't understand how deep suicidal depression is. It doesn't just happen. Some people have chemical imbalances and other go through soul crushing traumas that make them WANT TO DIE. A common misconception is that suicidal and/or depressed people don't understand how precious life is. They do understand which is why their situation is so serious. They need to be able to heal from the trauma and let go of their pain. They don't need to be guilt tripped, shamed, or judged. I'm so glad that Boze spoke up about this.

When I was 18, I wanted to die, but I wanted it to be a random freak accident that was out of my control. I haven't felt that depressed since and now I work at a dog daycare where I just play with dogs all day (and occasionally bathe them). The clients are nice too. One lady gave me a Starbucks giftcard on behalf of her dog because I was basically spoiling him. We've had other people give us money, food, or giftcards and in return we like to give them gifts.

I don’t have a very high opinion of my self worth and I think it’s stemmed from high school and being bullied a lot, then transitioning into not being valued as an employee at my work. I’m not very high energy which makes it hard to bond friendships. I would love for this to be spoken about on your podcast and I think it could be somewhat relatable for others as well

44:10 I just wanted to remark that I also grew up watching PBS and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood but it was never instilled in me that I'm important. I know, as an individual, that I find my own self-worth in others (which is horrible). That's why I used to be such the biggest crowd/people pleaser in high school and all throughout my pre-college education. I'd suck up to teachers and study because I craved their attention and their compliments. Maybe that's why I'm not doing the best in college. Its because that affection is missing and people can see through your bullshit and don't like it when you act artificial/fake.

I really enjoyed your conversation, the whole thing!!! I relate so so much to the people pleasing and being friends with people who take but don’t give and I’m working towards changing that within myself. It honestly stems from insecurities that in order to have value I have to be useful in some way and I never ask for or get anything in return, but fuck that shit. People that are too nice get walked all over honestly and it’s sad. Thanks so much for your perspective guys!

Well isn't this title convenient. Edit: So, I finally got to finish the podcast and man, why is literally like 90% of what they're talking about all hitting home? My parents are currently in this kind of situation except with some different nuances like silent treatment and a different cause/trigger, while I'm in a very toxic friendship where me and the other friends in the group all agree that this person is really just taking and barely giving and as david had said, they only really only give some laughs and some good time here and there but nothing more... ;_; Oh my goodness. **crying in the corner**

i wish my uncle did the same thing Boze did to those dealerships agents he bought a brand new high-end Camry (under 10 mile on it) and don't even ask for a discount because he waited too long to get the car (customized) less than 10 months later he got into an accident and the car was deemed a total loss he lost $5,000 after his insurance pay him for the car's FMV, if he were to ask the dealership to give him a discount then he probably drove for "free" during those 10 months
