Woodturning this incredible hybrid urn put of some black locust burl and epoxy resin. Using my deep pour resin with some red/wine colour mica metallic powder. The powder pigment has created some truly amazing swirly effect in the resin. Then it was time to put this blank on my Axminster woodturning lathe and began shaping this into an urn. Used brass threaded insert for easy and secure access. Sanded to 3000 grit then was polished to high gloss finish

Absolutely gorgeous urn - the beautiful black locust burl goes so well with the resin colour - looks like a fire from within - stunning work! 🤩

Cracking David !. I quite fancy having a go with resin but don't have a pressure pot. Can resin work be done without one ? Cheers mate 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Very nice David. Some video feedback- the new format you seem to be doing where everything is super speeded up is a bit distracting to watch. Personally I'd rather miss some footage and relax a bit while watching. That's just me. though. Love the content you're posting.

What would happen if there were a nail in that you didn't count on?

Depends on the angle and material really, most of the times the bit will bite through it, as most can go through wood and metal no issue due to the reinforced tips and/or forging and tempering processes, but if it's too hard a metal makes you feel the push back. Worst comes to worst (a worn out bit against a really hard nail) it will fly back, more often than not towards your face, which is why the safety mask/googles and other safety equipment are always recommended.
