10: Back when I still had my dreamcast (I regret getting rid of it.), I owned this game. As a young child, I had no idea what I was doing in that game and thus didn't get far. 9: Saw part of a Let's Play of the PS1 version, I don't remember enough to really comment though. 8: I know nothing about it other than it being one of a small handful of JRPGs made by a Western Dev. 7: I rented this a few times as a Kid, never really wrapped my head around what I was doing though. 6: Yeah, that weird Sports RPG hybrid. What a weird idea, it payed off weirdly. 5: Ah Yes, A game that needs a Remaster, Remake, or Port DESPERATELY. Such a great game, such a unique concept, why Sega just sits on this IP I have no idea. 4: Rented this a few times as well (I think it's fairly cheap on Amazon, so if I ever want to buy it that shouldn't be a problem.), The premise was so weird and interesting (Even as a Kid I knew it was pretty different, it stood out THAT MUCH.) that I don't understand how NO ONE has tried to repeat it. Like seriously, the premise and mechanic following it is so unique, how has no one copied it? 3: I love this game, And it's one of the few on the list I own (I can't remember how I got the PS2 version, which is odd usually I have a vague idea how I got most of my games.), both the PS2 version and the PS4 version. I love the art style, the tone, the writing, I love the game. If the combat was a little better and didn't have the bullshit main character KOing being an instant game over, it'd be one of the best. 2: I used to own this as well (Gave it to a friend, I was a dumb kid.). Tony was a breath of fresh air as a JRPG protagonist (Weird fact, this game was not released in Japan............but it's Remake for the GBA was ONLY released in Japan. They Replace Tony with Dan, a Dumb Big Eater, basically replacing a somewhat nuanced character with a huge anime cliche. Because of course they did.) The setting is so friggin' WEIRD, and I LOVE that. Art was pretty good for a GBC game, I rather miss it, I'd pay Nintendo for a Remake or even just making it buyable on the Switch. Also it's cards because it's based on a card game. 1: I did not play this, I did rent (And even beat (Mostly).) the GBA game Ham Ham Heartbreak. If the game is of similar quality, it's probably a good game.
@Ash113Lynx5 жыл бұрын
Hooray, someone else that played Magi Nation! I never beat it, but I do like it a lot and the humor is amazing. How often do you feel the need to interact with every object in a house on the off chance there's colorful dialogue there? For example, a bed in a house in the lava town has blankets, and Tony says something like "Blankets?! Madness! You'd roast like a turkey!" And upon inspecting someone's chest of drawers, he says something like "Hmph, nothing! Hardly worth my effort to root around here! Inconsiderate strangers!" The dialogue alone makes this one a keeper (though I enjoyed the combat well enough too)

I dunno for japanese but the amount of letters that are there but not spoken in the French language is staggering. Like the X in "amoureux" is totally silent, or the family name "Arneault sounds like "Arno". I can literally write a dog's name Phydeault but it would still sound as Fido. There are a ton of silent E, D, T and S too yet french is "another language" compared to english. We won't even try to cover "tonal languages" from Asia like Vietnamese here either. It would be preferable to not put every languages on the same level, they are all so very different, a simple assumption based on your knowledge of maybe one or two languages max just doesn't cut it my friend.

Magi nation by the end of the game is a very satisfying challenge AND it has fantastic extras like hunting the Hyrens. These are equal to pokemon's legendaries but in magi nation you have to beat them MULTIPLE times to get their essence to make them. The bosses are all fantastically challenging and the puzzles were great too. 4 vs 4 pokemon combat AND you get to attack too.

Just a minor error, but Skies of Arcadia was NOT released on the PS2 at all. It was released for the Dreamcast in 2000, with an enhanced version subtitles “Legends” in 2003. The PS2 planned version was cancelled.

I know you made this video forever ago, but Magi Nation was a card game (I may or may not have collected them) but the company went out of business pretty quickly. They had designed a 6th expansion to the card game but went out of business before it was printed. That might be why we never got a sequel.

Magi-Nation's battle system isn't actually card-based. The cards are just an aesthetic thing for the battle screen. You summon the dream creatures from rings and you have traditional magic spells as well.

Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! was one of the first video games I ever played (as well as my introduction to the Hamtaro series). I love that game, and I've never really played another game quite like it (save for its GBA sequel, Ham-Ham Heartbreak!, which is also quite good, if a bit more linear). Oddly though, the secondhand cartridge I got as a kid was for some reason incapable of keeping a save -- if I turned off the game I had to start over from the beginning. I eventually resorted to a rom just so I could play it all the way through! The sequel, which I previously mentioned, also had the Hamchat system but had two main characters, Hamtaro and Bijou, who couldn't perform certain hamchats if separated; the goal was to stop Spat, an evil devil hamster, who wanted to destroy all the love in the world, fixing other characters' relationships and saving them from his meddling. There were two more sequels (I'm not counting "Hi! Hamtaro" because it's barely related and the less said about it the better), which were only released in Japan and Europe. These abandoned the Hamchat system and just sorta... did their own thing. Rainbow Rescue was mostly similar but you controlled ALL the Ham-Hams, there was a strong emphasis on minigames, and each character had their own unique abilities; it also introduced a lot of characters from later in the anime series, like Prince Bo. Ham-Ham Games was kind of a direct sequel to Rainbow Rescue but was a sports game based on the Olympics. Even after I lost interest in the series in general, I still consider the games to be some of the greatest games I have ever played, and wish I could find more like them.

Its an evolution based rpg where you unlock creature parts and equip them onto your creature. Another weird evolution rpg was Evo the search for Eden on the SNES. I played a bit of this one from sites online never got far. Same concept as other game but is a 2d sidescroller. Evolution and rpgs go together like chocolate and peanut butter so its strange their arent more rpg games that explore the concept mechanically and conceptually.
