Bloody hell, what a fly. A pain in the neck to tie, but by god, how realistic is that.

All the best to you and yours. God Bless. It's the birthday of the U.S.A. tonight. I didn't think anyone would post, glad you did. Always love to see what's coming off your vise next. Sean

Terrific fly and technique. This is basically a Hexagenia or Burrower? I don't believe these are very well represented on youtube or even in flyshops in the States so I really appreciate the instruction.

Dear Davie, Very ingenious design to get the bug to travel upside down. I believe this could alleviate some of the frustrations of getting hung up on the bottom. And having to check your flies every few casts for muck on the hook . My question is. What are your thoughts on bead headed jig hooks for nymphs. I noticed you haven't tied any. And also haven't tied many bead heads in general. I know you are in UK and you guys have strong ideals. it considered not pure to use bead heads or jigs? Kind regards from Lappland. Colbee
@DavieMcPhail9 жыл бұрын
Hi Colbee, I'm glad you liked the mayfly nymph...I do fish with bead headed flies but as you said I don't have many videos on youtube showing how to tye them which I should have as they are fished a lot here in the UK especially for Grayling..I have fished and tyed a few flies using the jig hooks but I've ran out at the moment.. All the very best Davie

Davie where can i buy really good quality CDC? All the cdc products ive bought have been rubbish 🙁 its always too small when it comes and struggle to get 2 turns around a body on a fly? Price is not an option will pay anything for quality cdc😀 thanks in advance

Hi memmnock, I am always looking for good CDC feathers and the best I have bought came from a gentleman in Ireland called Pat Nolan of Premier Angling as this is where I got the cdc I used it the video. He can be hard to contact as he does have a Facebook page as this is the best way...Another good source and who I have got some excellent natural grey CDC this year was form a gentleman called David Jedlicka but again he can only be contacted through Facebook..I wish I could be of more help to you.. All the very best Davie..

+Davie McPhail I found some on ebay, I believe it is used to weight/balance golf clubs, tennis rackets, and the like. It is expensive, though. If you look around, you may find 1/4" width; even that seemed too wide, so I split it lengthwise with a pair of old scissors (don't use Your best). Great video!
