Thank you so much for making this video! I'm just now learning how to edit on an older version of DaVinci (17) in 2025. And this video is exactly what I was looking for, a basics refresher editing course, that's quick, and concise.

I use DaVinci regularly now and wooowwww was I ever overwhelmed when I first started using it - now I can't imagine creating and editing without it! It does, however, cause my computer to crash so every single time I make an edit I save my work lol. Thank you so very much for sharing your expertise with the ASMR community, it is so valued.

Great intro to Davinci Ian! I loved the "shift-delete" short cut for ripple editing. Didn't know that. I also like the "right click" to add a cross dissolve. Great tips. I'm curious about playing around with the H265 codec. Looking forward to your next tutorial!

Thank you so much! I've just started using Da Vinci Resolve yesterday after having heard about it for months now. Even without really knowing anything about the software I managed to get some nice colour grading for my next video. I just had a hard time exporting the files, at first the files size was huge, then I exported in mp4 and it was ok, but I'm sure I can find a third option in the middle to keep the best quality possible.

I keep coming back to this video to remember something and then learning something new. Like, I can use my iZotope voice de-noise from within DaVinci?!?! Game changer!! Thanks again, Ian! :)

I'm getting better at using the color wheels but man, all that node stuff gets complicated in a hurry. I could definitely use a tutorial for some of your favorite tricks.
@LisaRoseASMR4 жыл бұрын
Ooooo the nodes. Bane of my existence lol
@LisaRoseASMR4 жыл бұрын
Bearded Audio ASMR When you upload the node tutorial I will be front and center. I have yet to see a good node tutorial for beginners.
@LisaRoseASMR4 жыл бұрын
With the nodes, I'm looking to make a lower thirds similar to those found in Justin Brown's Primal Video tutorials. Just a simple colored text block with white text superimposed on it. No fancy gliding in and out or sliding lines and stuff, just a text box that appears (fades in perhaps) and then disappears. I cannot find anywhere online that teaches this! If you could include it in your next tutorial I would be so grateful. I'd even make a donation to you for this information because I've been pulling my hair out and wasting so much time trying to figure it out on my own!

Ok, back revisiting this video as I have a bit more time to edit my next video. I started trying DaVinci for the first time last night and I'm playing along at home with this video. Going back and forth editing my first video as you go along. I think I'm an hour in and just finished Fairlight section! Hi Ian! I just wanted to let you know that this video was really, really helpful for me. I wish I found you/this video sooner when I began my channel. The audio quality would have been a lot better 😓. Question: what volume dB do you usually set your limiter to? I've been setting mine to -12 dB, but I was wondering what other creators do. Thanks! Take care.

Question! Once i export the audio it sounds a *lot* different in audacity, groove music, or windows media player than it does in davinci. definitely not as much depth. is there a reason for this? Thank you so much for this though! it was INSANELY helpful!!!
@ASMRTutorialsForYou2 жыл бұрын
Do you know what audio settings you're using when you export?
@ASMRSoundWaves4 жыл бұрын
You're awesome! I've been using Audacity and then HitFilms Express for editing. There's a few things that look easier with this. I also like the idea of editing the audio within the same program rather than using Audacity first. I assume that also means that I can edit the audio within clips in case I want different setting for different triggers, which is awesome. I might just try it out and see. I'll just need to figure out how to switch the R/L channels!

@@ASMRTutorialsForYou thank you! So far, the noise reduction has been illuminating! I never noticed the learn button before ahah! Just a question: it removes any white noise or disrurbung sounds AMAZINGLY, but I notice that finger flutters, tapping and other sound triggers that are not voice related, loose a little bit of dimension. It's not a big issue, as I mostly use my voice, but I was just wondering if you had any suggestions about it 😊 anyways thank you so much 🙏
@ASMRTutorialsForYou3 жыл бұрын
That IS an issue, since it's geared toward voice. You have to listen to the sounds and think about how much dimension you want there vs noise removed and find a balance. There are also some great plugins, like RX8 by Izotope, that work even better than this.
