I was looking for a different food and ended up having another traditional food from Nepal called Chow Mein. I met very nice gentlemen who explained the process and showed kindness. Here are the whole experience and fist impressions of Nepali Style Chow Mein in Lalitpur.

There has been a miscommunication in the video, Davud. Chowmein (Noodles) is not a traditional nepalese food but is believed to be a recipe of China that gradually become famous in Nepal through Tibet. And if you wanna taste dal bhat with typical nepalese taste, I suggest you find some restaurant that has ‘Thakali’ written on it.

Yeah that's right chow mein is a mandarin word for noodles. It's Chinese And actually it's famous everywhere nowadays even the US it's very famous. Maybe the Nepalese guy the chef got confused when Davud asked about chow mein. 🤣🤣

Momo sauce is basically tomatoes & ground sesame seeds - some places they might add peanuts but it’s more of sesame.

Kathmandu is called “the city of temples” .. there are many many more temples than what you see on the streets - the newari people of Kathmandu have homes that opens into a courtyard in the center - each courtyard will also have a temple there .. !! So, yes, temples everywhere.. every nooks and crannies have temples 😊

Since I'm vegetarian, many locals told me that most of the Newari delicacies are non vegetarian but I still love their vege samaybaji, bara, stir fried ginger and garlic leaves, green momo, yomari and Juju dhau

Nepalese are excellent cooks. In most restaurants, the cooks and chefs are Nepalese. In top end restaurants in India, restaurants in Goa, in the middle east, in Bangkok also. Also try momo cha, the Nepal version of the Tibetan momo.

There rarely is a person who hasn’t tried momo in Nepal. Momo for Nepalese is above and beyond any snacks. And about sauce served with momo(we call it ‘Chatni’ or ‘Achar’ in Nepal), the ingredients on it varies from place to place. Somewhere, people add peanuts in the sauce but the most common one is the mixture of spices, tomatoes and sesame seeds. And you might have known by the taste, the sweet sauce presented to you with chowmein was tomato ketchup. Love your vids, can’t wait for the Pokhara series if you’re visiting.

Dhol Baat is break down (explain) to A split peas soup over rice (rich is Baath in Hindi). Dhol = split peas cook in a liquid form (if no one can tell you, then don't bother, just eat, enjoy)

If you are in Nepal, please do visit places or restaurants that says Thakali kitchen for authentic thakali daal bhaat. Some of them are Lete thakali kitchen, mantra Thakali kitchen ( they serve pork daal bhaat here), jimbu thakali, etc. Those noodles are not our traditional food, if you are in the same area then do search for honacha or nandani food court both of them are tranditional newari culture food place. You literally passed through both of these place in this places. Do visit these newari culture food restaurant and try their buff bara and buff choila they taste real good.
